The dream

After four days of waiting, it was the day the school starts. In the meantime, Hai Feng tried to nourish his aperture walls without anyone's expalation or help.

As he walked to the school building, he couldn't help but excitedly think that his cultivation journey starts today. But his only concern was if the Tao clan had any useful gu that could actually help him.

When he reached the classroom, there were already eight people sitting there. All there was missing was Hai Feng and the other B-grade student.

He sat down in one of the few free seats near the front since all of the back was already occupied. Just as he was getting comfortable, the doors slammed open and a person walked in.

He was Wen Xuan, the other B-grade aptitude with a 75% capacity. As he looked around the room with a slightly arrogant smirk, Wen Xuan spotted Hai Feng calmly sitting in his seat.

'Hmm… For some reason, I don't like that look.' thought Hai Feng.

He himself had a B grade aptitude, but Hai Feng only managed to open 64% of his maximum capacity. The difference wasn't big, and in spite of that, as small as it was, it still made a difference in their cultivation speed.

Wen Xuan, of course, wasn't ignorant; he knew the usual traditions and walked to Hai Feng to say something. But just as he was about to talk, the door once again opened, and the instructor came in.

"In your seats! My name is Tian Yu, and I'm going to be your teacher this year."

"I am a rank 2 Gu Master, so you may refer to me as sir or teacher. Also, my main path is water." stated Tian Yu.

"Before we start the lesson, we need to go to our clan storage to get your first Gu. Since our clan is a very small one, we primarily have three gu worms that you could choose from, so don't be disappointed."

"Before that, I am going to explain the gu you will be choosing from. Firstly, the most commonly used is Water Wave Gu."

"It uses the already available water to create a wave, as the name suggests. It can be used to attack and defend. They are mostly found in a turbulent sea, riding the waves. What they eat is a Wavetail Fish. You can also find them swimming in the wavy sea, but you can buy them in stores too."

"The second is Water Prison Gu. It produces a water ball from the Gu master's mouth and traps the enemy inside it. The gu drinks the water that you consume, so the higher the rank of the gu, the purer and better the water you must drink to sustain it.

"And lastly, the Water Wall Gu. It makes an arch of thick water wall from water vapor in the air, so you can use it practically anywhere. And it eats…"

As the Tian Yu finished explaining all the gu it uses and what not. The teacher without any warning, stopped and said.

"Follow me!" he didn't let the students properly react to his words and went out the door almost immediately.

Students, after a few seconds of delay, rushed out of the classroom and followed their teacher. At the front of the group were Wen Xuan and Hai Feng and it seems the former one was trying to get to the front and the latter didn't really care

Behind them was a singular C grade student whose name was Guang Ming. He looked uncomfortable, maybe because he was the only C grade in the whole class or for something else.

And lastly, in the back were all the other students who had D grade aptitude who were trying to get to the front so they could talk to the two people at the front. They looked normal and didn't have anything extraordinary about them.

After some time of walking, they reached their destination. The storage was located near the Refinement Hall and looked kind of bland without any decorations or anything.

Tian Yu then stooped at the front doors and turned around to face the students. Afterwards, he opened the doors.

"Now listen closely, everybody! You can only take one gu worm if you take more, we will know." with a treathining voice, said the teacher.

"I am going to go in with a group of two people while the others are going to wait here. Don't cause any ruckus or try to sneak in, is that understood?"

"Yes sir!"

"Yes teacher!"

Students shouted and started to pair up with their friends. As they did so, Tian Yu had already gone in with Hai Feng and Wen Xuan.

Then he closed the door and invited Wen Xuan to come with him. As for Hai Feng, he simply told him to look at the gu worms with a green mark next to them because they were easier to refine.

The teacher then led Wen Xuan, who had a confused face, to the other room. Hai Feng looked around the room to see what type of gu he would choose.

As he was looking around, he saw some other gu worms that the teacher hadn't told them about. But still, there were mostly water path gu worms.

It didn't take a long time for him to choose, as Hai Feng already had something in mind. It had both attack and defense capabilities, and its name was...

"Water Wave Gu." with an awed expression, said Hai Feng.

The gu looked like a small shrimp. It had many small feet and two long antennas.

When he was about to pick it up, he remembered the teacher's advice and looked for one who had a green mark next to him. It didn't take even five seconds to find it because literally left of him was the gu with a small green mark.

He quickly took it and went outside. Hai Feng was the first one out, as the teacher and Wen Xuan were still inside.

It didn't take long since, ten minutes later, they came back. Wen Xuan had a big and arrogant smirk and didn't even try to hide it as he looked at Hai Feng in the face.

"Alright next!" without resting, the rest of the students went in and got their first gu worm.

While this was happening, Wen Xuan wasn't even talking or looking at Hai Feng as if it were beneath him. Unsurprisingly, Hai Feng also ignored the former, as he was once again thinking about his future.

'Now that I have my first gu, all I need to do is refine it and use it to gain experience. It is also great that I live in the Eastern Sea, and there is no problem of having no water at hand to use this gu worm.'

'Probably, my second priority would be to get more water path gu and form my own style. It will take a long time but it is doable.

'Imagine how cool it would be if I could manipulate the water with free will. I could become like the Avatar and bend all four elements.'

'As it was one of my favorite shows, I know quite a bit about it. At least much more than Reverend Insanity.'

'But if I do that, I need to find a way for the Dao Marks to not conflict with each other. And I don't know if it is even possible in the first place but one can dream, right?'

"My dream..." muttered Hai Feng.

Then suddenly, his eyes slightly changed and his posture started to look a bit more confident. But nobody saw this small transformation, as they were too engrossed to their own stuff.

'Alright, it's decided I am going to try and become like the Avatar. But first, I need to master water.' with an excited and eager look, Hai Feng decided his future path.
