Reverberations from the past.

"What do you see when you look at me?" Vanessa asked, as she stared tearily at Raymond. "Broken? Hurt? Mad? Dangerous?" "Vanessa. That's all I see. I see you, Vanessa" Raymond replied shortly, as he bent on his knees to caress her cheeks. "A vulnerable Vanessa?" she asked "No. I see Vanessa, a woman struggling to make things right" he replied honestly. "I'm sorry I dragged you into this. I'm so sorry" she said almost in a whisper, but he heard her due to their close proximity. "You didn't do anything wrong. I should be apologizing instead. Vanessa, I..." "Stop, Raymond! Just don't. I can't even look you in the eyes" she said as she looked down. "You lost almost everything because of me. I'd understand if you blame me. But please don't apologize to me" she said as she wept uncontrollably. Raymond pulled her into his arms, kissed her forehead and hugged her tightly. "I'd never blame you, Vanessa. Never" "Raymond, can we start all over again when all these end?" "No..." ***** Aida grew up in a lovely home, with mother out of the picture. Chapter 55 All You Have

"I don't think i would like to face him at this moment. I would need some time to prepare myself to meet him" Vanessa replied

"I'm glad you walked the road of forgiveness" Kelly said smiling. "It shows just how strong you have grown over the years"

After a brief moment of silence, Kelly excused herself and left to find Samuel.

Theodore, leaning against the wall, stared at Raven who in turn took his sweet time to sucking the cigarette he's just lighted.

"Why are you here?" Theodore pried.

"Why? You don't want to see me? Tough luck with that because you're going to see me often" Raven replied carelessly.

"I saw your mark on Aida. She's your mate, I presume" Theodore stated blankly without any trace of emotion.

"Presume? I thought the fact that my mark is on her says it all. What proof do you need again?" Raven asked, as he raised an eyebrow, finally looking in Theodore's direction.

"She's too young to bear a mate mark. Aren't you afraid something's wrong somewhere?" Theodore asked.

"Worried about me or her?" Raven asked, blowing out smoke.

"I would've cared less if she wasn't related to my wife" Theodore stated, factually.

"I get it " Raven chuckled.

"Don't get me wrong, I don't care, if you go to hell. But if you dare lay a finger on her, I swear I will rip you apart" Theodore threatened.

"Protective already?" Raven scoffed.

"I think so" Theodore replied, as he stared blankly at the entrance of the building.

After a few seconds of silence between them, the atmosphere became gloomy.

"You also think I did it, right? You think I killed them all, right?" Raven asked, unable to hide how hurt he was.

"I would've killed you by now, if I thought you did it" Theodore replied absentmindedly.

"Do you know why you were my favorite among all my uncles?" Raven asked, and Theodore turned to look at him.

"I liked you the most, because you were the only honest one among them" Raven said.

Theodore looked away and stared blankly into space.

"What was that in there a while ago? Were you trying to find out if you're still in good shape?" Raven asked curiously.

"No, I was only trying to prove to them that only three of my men were enough to guard the entire mansion" Theodore stated blankly.

"I can't imagine the shocks on their faces to hear about that" Raven smiled, before he snapped; " But seriously, Theodore, three?"

"Yes, three" Theodore replied with a smile. "Would you be so kind to let me in, on your mission?" Theodore pried.

"Mission? I have countless missions right now. Which one are you asking about?" Raven asked, playing dumb.

"You know the mission I am talking about" Theodore replied sternly.

"What do you want to know?" Raven asked seriously now.

"The powerhouse, never planned to attack. Am i wrong?" Theodore asked

"What makes you think so?" Raven asked.

"You'd be the last person the powerhouse would entrust annihilating the Brown Wilsons to. Moreover, Anthony went as far as giving a clue to Arnold. We both know how the powerhouse works. The powerhouse is trying to get them prepared for an impending doom. Dynamite. We both know, that was my code name in the powerhouse. If I get the message clear, Anthony asked Arnold to find me. Now, here I am, what do you want from me?"

"Anthony will be the best person to answer that question since he carried out that mission" Raven answered honestly.

"You have no idea?" Theodore asked as a slight frown appeared on his face.

"Not a clue" Raven lied.

"I see. Now tell me, Raven. Was approaching Vanessa your only mission or you had other missions?" Theodore pried ,but when Raven remained silent, he asked; "Why didn't you abduct her like you were ordered to do?"

Raven looked questionably at Theodore.

"My wife. Why did you kill all those who tried to attack her?" Theodore asked

"Because she's all you have" Raven replied.
