Chapter 6

Hesitantly turning her head, Stacey was surprised to see Arthur was gone, she wanted him there so she could mock him. Because those were her grandmother's orders.

"I thought she wanted to spend time with me, turns out she was desperate for a secretary," Arthur angrily mumbled, as he loosened his tie and unbuttoned his bloody shirt, "I was beaten up for her, but she did nothing, she went and held the hand of the moron who beat me up and she even went as far, to flirt with him in front of me!"

Taking a deep breath to suppress his anger, Arthur walked to the bathroom to wash his bloody face.

Looking at his reflection in the mirror, the person staring back at Arthur was different to him. "So this is how your life is now? Born as a master and now you're living as a what? A live-in son -in-law, a worthless one…" Arthur mumbled to himself. 'I think it's time you get back home.' Arthur thought as he walked out of the bathroom.

He silently took a seat on the couch, and sat back. The only thing on his mind was Stacey, feeling disappointed beyond words. She didn't look worried when she saw Caine savagely kicking him. She went and held the hands of the person who beat her husband up. She didn't look bothered when he was putting his hands around her shoulders. This was a wake up call for Arthur.

At that same moment Arthur's cell phone rang, Arthur sluggishly checked the caller ID, it was the same caller who had called him earlier.

"Jared, just the person I wanted to speak with." Arthur mumbled, a smile made its way to his face as he said that. He picked up the cellphone and answered it, before slowly putting it to his ear.

"Master Stark, how are you, Master?" The old man said in a shaky tone.

"What's wrong Jared? Are you alright?" Arthur asked with a concerned tone, "You don't sound so good, are you sick?"

It took several seconds before Jared could reply.

"When are you coming back, master you're needed here…I'm getting old..."

"I know I know." Arthur cut the old man off, he took a deep breath and replied, "I'll be back today in the evening, I have some things to take care of here. In the meantime, handle everything alright?" Arthur replied.

"Should I send someone to pick you up, Master Stark?"

"I don't know, I'll let you know." Arthur hesitantly replied. "Bye."

Before he could put the cellphone down, Arthur received a video message from an unknown number.

'Who could it be?' Arthur thought to himself, wondering who sent him the video, could it be Jared? Arthur hesitantly tapped on the video and it started playing, after watching for a few seconds he was shocked by what he saw.

About two minutes after he finished watching the video, Arthur was sitting on the sofa with an angry expression on his face, clenching his fists. He was feeling so much pain in his heart.

The squeaking sound of the door made Arthur turn his head to the door as Stacey walked in, sighing exasperatedly, Stacey rested her eyes on Arthur, as she walked in, feeling a little bad for not standing up for him.

Arthur faked a smile at her, as she took a seat on her bed.

"Hey," Arthur said with a smile on his face. As if nothing happened.

She didn't answer him this time either, making him wonder what was going on in her head. What was her problem with him?

Ignoring Arthur, Stacey stood up and walked to the safe. She opened the safe and took out some documents.

She walked to Arthur and took a seat next to him, looking into his eyes with a soft expression, "Arthur It's time we get a divorce." Her tone was softer than usual, there was a hint of sadness in it. "It's what you always wanted right?" She continued.

Without a second thought Arthur grabbed the papers from her arm, "Yeah it was what I've always wanted…." He trailed and looked at her, "And I still want to." Arthur said coldly.

Moving her arm to his arm, Stacey softly said: "Arthur…you're a nice guy, I don't see anything wrong with you, it's just that, I have to put my family first….and marry a worthy husband, try to understand."

Looking at her with a faint smile, Arthur slowly removed her hands off him. "I understand. I'm poor and useless….Caine on the other hand is a billionaire….what's not to understand?" Arthur said, carefully reading the divorce papers. He wouldn't want to be signing another contract.

"I can't disappoint grandma Gwendolyn, marrying a worthy person is the only way I can save our company." Her tone was surprisingly soft.

Surprised by her sudden change of attitude, Arthur laughed inside. Was she mocking him? Since when did she learn to talk nicely to him?

"Are you sure? I think that's what you're telling yourself….you're so tempted by his wealthy….you like the fact that he can buy you everything you want." Arthur said in a casual tone, though one could hear the underlying pain. He wasted two years on her.

Looking at Arthur with a soft expression, Stacey replied.

"True...you're right…he's capable enough and he can buy me whatever I want...and I want to spend my life with someone like…." Stacey stopped her answer mid way as Arthur lifted his cellphone, and showed her what was on his cellphone screen.

"He's too rich to let go….and that's why you let him touch you however he sees fit even though you're married." Arthur said, playing a video of Stacey and Caine making out, "….oh and you made out a few times on your birthday….did you two have sex too?" Arthur asked, feeling disrespected, and hurt.

Stacey felt even more disrespected z that was not her on the video, with a stunned expression Stacey replied: "I was drunk, and I was out of my senses, but that was the only thing that….."

Her sentence was interrupted as Arthur suddenly started signing the divorce papers.

"Here." Arthur said, his voice devoid of emotions, as he stretched out his arm to give her the divorce papers. Stacey timidly took them without looking him in the eyes, feeling shameful "Arthur I-I didn't mean for this to happen, you know I'm not that type of person." Her sad tone at the moment felt like a mocking sound to him.

Arthur felt like she was mocking him. Cause in their two years of marriage, not even once did she act nice towards him. And he never could have believed that she would cheat on him, if someone told him, but that video confirmed it.

Deep down Stacey knew the video was fake, but she wanted Arthur to believe she did it, as she knew Arthur will move on quicker if he hates her.

"I'll pay you a million dollars, for the two years you wasted, while living here." Stacey said casually, maintaining her cold gaze on him.
