Chapter 20

CHLOE’s POV

Mateo and I just stood there, stunned, when we saw the girl in front of us. She can't possibly be alive. She’s been dead for a long time.

I took a few steps back as I observed people whispering to us.

“Oh my goodness! Is she the mayor’s daughter-in-law?”

“Is she still alive?”

“I thought she had died.”

I shook my head, knowing that what we were witnessing was not true. I still can’t believe she’s alive. She only calls herself by that name!

“A-Ana…”

I was astonished and shocked to see my husband almost faint when he saw the woman pretending to be in front of us.

Mom Caridad and I exchanged glances because Ana had surprised her and become pale.

“Yes, I’m still alive.”

My eyes widened as I returned my gaze to her, who was already beaming at us. Because my fists were shaking, I hid it behind me.

How on earth is she still alive?

“Is it any surprise I’m still alive? Am I really dead in your eyes?” Ana smiled and glanced at us. “Aren’t you glad I’m still here, dad and mom?”

I know Mom and Dad Levi couldn’t speak because they were horrified. I clenched my fists hard. She sent flowers to us.

“You sent the flower? No! We buried you! You’re just pretending!” I yelled, but she grinned again.

“Did you double-check that I was the one you buried?”

I remained silent because I couldn’t answer her because we didn’t know who we buried because her body had already been burned.

“How come you’re so sure I’m the one you buried? Did you have anything to do with my accident?”

Our eyes widened in disbelief as we gazed at her, but she continued to smile.

“Of course not.” Chloe replied. Ana nodded and moved closer to me, so we backed away.

She motioned to one of Martin’s bodyguards and handed her something. We simply waited while Ana wrote something in a little book that resembled a check. She raised the check she was holding and turned to mother Caridad as she gazed at me.

“Donya Caridad Villalobos, 10 million pesos to leave here in the town of San Alfonso,” Ana remarked with a smile as she flung a considerable check in Mama Caridad’s face. Mama Caridad froze and grabbed the check.

“That’s what you did to me before, wasn’t it? To keep your son away,” he said.

We were all stunned, but Mom couldn’t answer Ana. I looked around when we heard loud whispers, as if people were confused about what was happening. Damn it, we’re too embarrassed here.

“Mayor Levi.”

Dad stopped and looked at Ana.

“I used to believe you were a kind person, and I respected you for that. However, I have come to realize that I was mistaken. You are far worse than simply being a bad person. I’m sure you understand what I mean,” she said, her words laced with disappointment.

Papa Levi’s eyes widened, clearly puzzled by Ana’s statement. I felt a jolt of surprise when Ana turned her gaze towards me, causing me to quickly avert my eyes.

“Chloe,” she called out, her voice filled with a mix of frustration and anger. I couldn’t help but clench my fist in response. “I thought you were my friend, but it turns out you’re nothing more than a deceitful snake. You betrayed me by claiming my husband.” A wicked grin spread across her face, causing my eyes to widen in shock.

Before I could respond, the rumors started circulating once again. My fists tightened, and I shot Ana a piercing glare, feeling a surge of anger at her apparent delight in humiliating us. Damn it!

“That’s a lie! I never took anything from you! I was the one who helped Mateo when you vanished!” I yelled at her, my voice laced with fury. She erupted into laughter, treating my words as if they were a mere joke.

People cannot know the true reason behind Mateo and my marriage. No! My reputation will be destroyed.

“Oh, really? Even if I witness firsthand what you're doing in our bed?” My eyes widened, and I shook my head. Damn you, Ana! “You’re supposed to be my best friend, right? Yet, you’re a deceitful snake who entangles themselves with a married individual,” she said with a smirk, and I was taken aback by the intense animosity in her gaze.

“Shut up!”

She smirked at me and turned towards Mateo, who was attempting to touch her, but she was evading him. I walked over to my husband to prevent him from getting near Ana.

“A-Ana…” Mateo pleaded, causing me to avert my gaze and tightly grip my fists.

We were all taken aback when Ana grabbed a glass of wine and poured it on Mateo, leaving him stunned by her actions.

“What on earth?!” I exclaimed, shoving her away as she was going too far. She simply grinned and disregarded me. Damn it.

“I’m not your Ana anymore, Mateo. Since you cheated on me, our relationship is over,” she said, grinning as she slapped Mateo hard, causing him to bow down.

“Damn it! Stop it! You’re too much!” I yelled, pushing her again. But she pushed me to get close to Mateo. “Damn you! Stay away from my husband!” I shouted, about to approach her when Mateo stopped me. I fell silent, seeing the evil look on my husband’s face.

“That’s not enough for what you did to me,” she said firmly, looking at each of us before turning to leave. But then Mateo surprised us all by suddenly kneeling in front of her.

My eyes widened, and I tried to pull Mateo to his feet. What was he doing? Was he embarrassing himself?

“Mateo, stand up! You don’t have to kneel for her!” I said, continuing to try to pull him upright. But he shook my hand off and I backed away.

“A-Ana, I-I’m sorry… Forgive me for all my sins against you…” Mateo cried and bowed to her while kneeling in front of her.

“Damn it, Mateo!” I shouted, but he never listens to me.

Ana was stunned and turned to Mateo, smiling as she approached her husband and touched his cheek.

“I haven’t done anything yet, but you’re already kneeling? Funny,” she said. She let go of Mateo’s face and raised her foot, placing it on Mateo’s shoulder, shocking us all. “Feel my feet because this is not the last time you will kneel before me,” she said, looking at us before walking out of the event as if nothing had happened.

I immediately approached Mateo to help him stand up, but he just waved at me and glared before leaving. After Ana left, the media and other people almost chased her to talk to her, but they couldn’t reach her.

F–ck!

Mom and Dad exchanged a look before we left the event, feeling embarrassed in front of everyone. It’s all Ana’s fault!

“Why is Ana still alive? What is going on?” Papa demanded as we arrived at the hacienda, glaring at us. “She was the one we buried before, wasn’t she, Caridad? You handled Ana’s funeral!” he shouted.

I bent down and quietly told my son to go to his room. He nodded and hurried upstairs.

“I-I don’t know, I’m just as shocked as you

that she’s still alive!”

“If she’s alive, then who did we bury?!”

Mama Caridad shook her head and she and Papa Levi continued to argue. It’s been chaotic since she showed up earlier.

Why are you still alive, damn it.

THIRD POV

“Ana!”

They noticed Ana walking slowly into the mansion, still reeling from what had happened. However, they were also impressed by the skill she had shown earlier. They understood that Ana was still in shock from seeing the family that had killed her, and they empathized with her feelings.

“I will take care of her,” Martin said seriously to them, before following Ana to her room.

Ana was shocked to see a whiteboard covered with pictures of Villalobos, and she felt intense hatred. She tore the pictures off the whiteboard and screamed in anger, smashing things in her room.

Martin entered the room and was shocked to see many broken items on the floor. “Ana!” he shouted, scolding her, but she didn’t listen.

Ana sat on the floor, crying and releasing her anger towards the Villalobos. Martin softened and hugged her to comfort her.

“Please, that’s enough,” Martin whispered, but Ana just hit him.

“They’re evil, Martin! How can they even look at me? How do they have the nerve to look me in the eye?!?” Ana shouted as she hit him. Martin just hugged her tightly. “They ruined my life! They destroyed me, Martin! They broke me!”

“Shhh!”

“Not enough, Martin! What I did to them is not enough! That’s not enough! I’m not satisfied yet!” he said, tightening his grip on Martin's clothes. “They will pay for killing me! I will destroy their lives.”

Martin felt Ana’s intense hatred, unsure if it was nervousness or concern. “I am their worst nightmare.”

MATEO still can’t believe he seen his ex-wife again, but he feels that his wife has changed. He slammed his hand on the steering wheel and drove towards the club, feeling a mix of joy and regret. He knows his sins are unforgivable, but he still hopes that Ana will forgive him, and they can return to what they had before.

He will do anything to win Ana back. “She is mine!”
