Chapter 003: The Slimes

There were some reasons why Wei Shen decided to cultivate the [Path of Dark Sovereign] first instead of killing a bunch of beasts recklessly.

In other plains or realms, you can beat a beast with another stronger beast at your disposal until it's half-dead and the beast turned into a beast card or came inside a ball by itself and you already became a legit beastmaster.

But, becoming a beastmaster in the Argoth Continent was way more different, complicated and hard. If you want to be a beastmaster, you need to become a powerful master first to show your dominance towards the beast.

You have to earn the beast's respect and loyalty, since the beasts on the Argoth Continent were akin to humans in terms of intelligence. Some Common Rank beasts even were as smart as a five years old human child. Those beasts also had their own consciousness, mind, wisdom and also desire. They are not just some mindless monster who obeys their masters' command without anything in exchange.

Don't need to ask how smart, intelligent and how wiseful the beast with higher rank was. Legend has it, a Mythical Rank beast was able to communicate with human tongues and was able to shapeshift into their human form. A truly magical being that only shows themself in such dire and critical eras.

With that said, Wei Shen aimed to reach at least the 4 Star Realm within a week, so he could at least hunt Uncommon Rank Beast. With the help of his beast taming system, he could efficiently choose what kind of beasts he wanted to tame, and what beasts that he could farm out their beast core to strengthen the beast that he chose.

Eight hours has passed since Wei Shen entered his seclusion. His body was drenched in sweat, the jet-black energy oozed out and created some kind of terrifying dark aura around him.

His cultivation advanced into 2 Star Realm Warrior easily. Thanks to his past life experiences, he could channel his Yang Qi efficiently.

Normal people would spend their fortunes and years of training just to reach 2 Star Realm Warrior. But Wei Shen advanced in just one night.

Although he wanted to continue his cultivation, his soul and body weren't strong enough to bear the sheer force of the Well of Yang Qi. He opened his eyes and gasped, he could feel his body like it was about to burn inside out due to the sheer amount of Yang Qi that he absorbed. Wei Shen was a little disappointed because he can only use Well Of Yang Qi once per day. Yet, his current strength couldn't withstand the sheer pressure.

"Not bad… Since I know how to channel the Yang Qi through my body and store them in my Dantian efficiently, my progress is somewhat faster than my prior self!"

Despite being fatigued and as pale as a corpse, Wei Shen smiled in glee. He crawled to the small pond of water and cupped a handful of water and drank it slowly, as well as washed his face and body to refresh his fatigued body.

Early in the morning at first light of the day and the sun still at the tip of the horizon, Wei Shen already woke up and prepared to do his harsh training of the day. After he ate some fruits for his breakfast, Wei Shen crafted a wooden spear with an obsidian stone as its spearhead

[Path of The Dark Sovereign] was a cultivation art that could be paired with any weapon, there is no limit, except the user's imagination on how he interpreted that cultivation art.

Wei Shen learned that cultivation art from someone that he met in his previous life, the name was Ryuji. The information about who Ryuji was very limited, even for Wei Shen who became Ryuji's disciple for a couple of years couldn't fathom Ryuji's power entirely.

One thing for sure about Ryuji, Wei Shen knew Ryuji wasn't reincarnated nor transmigrated, he simply existed and traversed realm between realm to spread the teachings of Dark Sovereign.

"If only that goddamned Ryuji stayed in Argoth and fought that Outer God bastard together, I might be in heaven with a beautiful, sexy, big ti**y angel by now!"

Wei Shen pouted while he tightened the knot that held his makeshift spear together like a kid throwing his tantrum.

"Alrighty! Time to hunt!" Wei Shen stood up with the spear upon his shoulders.

A sharp, whistling to his surroundings. In a matter of seconds, various information popped up in Wei Shen eyesight, like using VR devices.

Wei Shen used the skill for about 15 second in every 5 minutes cooldown since his brain could be fried because of the endless stream of information that surged into his brain.

Although it sounds like a really short time, 15 second activation was just enough for Wei Shen's innate photographic memory.

After roaming around for an hour, something caught Wei Shen's attention.

There was a colony of Slimes decomposing something at the base of the rocky canyon. Wei Shen quickly descended to the canyon to check it out.

Wei Shen was confused at first, what makes a colony of slimes gathered in one place.

When he took a closer look, there was a dying Black Iron Claw Lion being decomposed alive. That slimes colony immediately sensed a danger when Wei Shen took one step closer. They swarmed towards him like a moth attracted to a light.

He quickly jumped back and brandished his spear which was already imbued with his Yang Qi.

Wei Shen just simply swung his wooden spear, stabbed and slashed hundreds of slimes effortlessly as if he was swatting a bunch of mosquitoes!

Within a minute or so, all slimes were defeated and they dissolved when he pierced their cores.

"Huh! Not even a warm up! This area is just full of weak beasts!"

Wei Shen shook his wooden spear to get rid of the blueish slimy fluids. The Lion Beast grunted and it tried to stand up

Wei Shen, readied his stance. 'One key ingredient for becoming a beastmaster is by overcoming fear.' Wei Shen recalled Ryuji's teachings and he did really well.

The Lion beast became hesitant to attack Wei Shen. It lied back sideways with its dying breath.

There were dozens of arrows tucked on its back and there was a huge long sword stabbed in its abdomen. Gray-ish blood flows from its wound till it makes a small creak of blood.

It was clear that the poor Lion beast was being hunted by some poachers or maybe a warrior who hunted it for its beast core.

Black Iron Claw Lion was renowned with its resilient vitality and also its shiny black mane was very gorgeous and adored by many hedonists.

Wei Shen smiled upon seeing such a beast dying in front of him. "What a lucky day! A beast and a real sword for free!"

He approached the beast and an empathy grew inside his chest when he saw tears started to drip from the beast's eyelids.

"Come to think of it, who the heck did such amateurs work on you? You deserve to be hunted and killed with dignity! One slash, one kill! Not like a freaking pest like this! Don't worry buddy, I will finish you off and put an end to your misery."

Wei Shen grabbed the sword's hilt firmly, he checked the beast's reaction for one last time, just in case it would retaliate when pulled out the sword.

Fortunately, there were none, it was so calm as if it gave its life to Wei Shen.

Although it was so faint, Wei Shen could feel a connection with the beast. Without wasting any time, he pulled out the longsword from its abdomen and quickly pierced its heart with a single, precision thrust.

There was no roar or flailing from the beast. It just simply passed away peacefully. He immediately extracted its beast core before it withered and sealed the beast core with his Yang Qi to contain it.

Wei Shen patted its head to give his respect towards the beast. He want to absorb the beast core as soon as possible so he can upgrade his skills.

However, when Wei Shen was about to climb up the canyon, he heard galloping horses nearby as well as dozens of mens yelling to each other.

"Over here! The blood trace is going to the canyon!"

Wei Shen felt his blood boil as his rage burned inside him. "So this the scoundrels who hunt you, eh? I will be very pleased to avenge your misery!"
