"Where are you?" Alric asked, his voice low but tense.
Nora paused, her breath catching. She realized the question wasn't directed at her. Yet, she couldn't help but feel uneasy. Hadn't he handed over his phone to the kidnappers earlier?
The voice on the other end of the line was strained, likely in the middle of a fight. "This is the Night Queen Bar, a notorious hotspot for criminals. We're here, but it'll take time to get to you. There are too many layers to get through. Are you holding up?"
Sitting close to Alric, practically on his lap, Nora could hear the sounds of chaos through the phone. Gunshots and grunts of pain filled the air.
"Take your time," Alric replied coolly, his calm demeanor almost eerie. "But make sure no one survives. Leave no witnesses for the police."
