Chapter 27

Carl continued his training, however, to learn about the various technologies, devices, and the different fields that could be generated—how everything worked. It was fascinating, and given his innate abilities, rewarding. He found he made astonishing progress.

When he learned of the theoretical existence of a residue that should be left by incursion fields, he directed his efforts to a new device: something that could detect that residue. It was interesting on its own, but there was also the mathematical possibility of a resonator that could reconstruct the field—albeit in a minor way—and that had otherpossibilities.
