Remilitarization.

Disclaimer: Plot and writing may go all over the place. I revised the story as of March 25th. I also added breaks in chapters to represent a long duration of time or a change in perspective. In the world of Oyerat, life continues for the people living there. Many battles were fought, exterminated, and won. Tsutomu Fukumoto is an admirer of military tech. Always giving him ease on his mind during free time while working. However, a mishap happened during his life, and it made him wake up in a world that looks different. However, it's not the typical world that Tsutomu imagined. Once a lifeless Commander of private military, now turned into an unknown person in the new world with no history, knowledge, or fame. That world he set on enveloped him from every direction with its earth-like features. Tsutomu met someone in the world, and both realized that they have no goals, future, or anything in mind. In the beginning, he suppressed his past for now, but for how long? The story cover is not mine.

The New World

A/N: At this point, this is basically writing another story. I wasn't really proud of what I've written. It wasn't progressing as much as I've wanted it to. And, it just doesn't look right to me. I might make the same mistake again with this chapter which derails the rest of the story. I hope not.

__________________________________________

"The world you questioned is called Oyerat." Okay... what's up with that naming?

"You dare to mock me on how I name things? You can't even name a battle!" Alright. Insult me all you want. I don't give a damn.

"You!-...I don't have that much time, so I'm going to explain it to you briefly. In the past, I've reincarnated many sentient species across my systems. With some c-consent, of course... But, I placed them in systems that cannot interact with other reincarnations." Hmm, that means I can't approach any green alien wandering inside of the new world. It would be cool, especially if they have some futuristic laser guns or something like that. I would gladly like to see how other civilizations manufacture their weapons.

"Since you're mortal, you will be surprised. How should I say it... it happened hundreds of millions of years in the past. That's when species have gained sentience within in my systems." Dang... so, how many people did you reincarnate? I rolled over on the bed, facing up at the white, plain ceiling. I really do love this bed. This bed is the best-

"Around fifty! Even though it's a long time, I still remember those reincarnates. Pastechi, Composter, and Zaruk. Some of them are immortal, and I can still talk to them at this very moment. One of them is from your species, and I think his name is called Albert Einstein. I may be wrong, but there's probably more from where they come. Oh! Also, I translated the other species' names into your articulate communication." Wait, what kind of language does The One speak then? Hm... what's the catch?

"Just two, Tsutomu. Don't make some weird thing that can interfere with other systems, and for some reason, destroy my system you are in. That's all. You can make the world of your dreams. Do anything! For christ's sake! I-I've shaped the perfect world for your kind of species, especially you! Do you know how much time I spent making it!?" They grieved.

No need to cry over this. Man...

"All for you to not care at all!?" The One fumed.

Uhh. Maybe.

"Alright! At least you care!" She criticized me. How harsh. Can I ask for anything?

"Y-YES! You can ask for anything you like! Before that, say that you're sorry!" Grumbling.

Fine. I'm sorry.

"Like you MEAN it!"

"I'm SORRY!" I shouted across the void. There, you appreciate it?

"Fu-fu, okay... how about I make your wants simple?" The voice calmed down.

After waiting for The One to say something, "...You've heard of those... Isekai's, am I right?" Ah... I do remember those. I was walking by some boring shops from my fake salaryman job until I stumbled upon a bookstore. I browsed some books, and I'm wondering what the heck is happening to these light novels? Also, I don't really like how they're titled-

They cut in my thinking, "Yes, yes! Your world is unique... just like many other Systems! Now, what do you want? Be SPECIFIC." Woah there.

All I can think of right now is just military. Guns, everything. Politics. I really like how they work and operate.

"J-Just that?"

Yeah. I'm confident in my answer. I don't mind if it's something else unless it's not some military weapon.

"Hmmm. I really do like you, straight to the point! I'll add a few more things to that... some of which will be a surprise when you arrive in your new world. I'm already surprised by your history in the Earth system." More things? How much are you gonna add? How much are you gonna spy on me?

"One of your abilities should cater to your needs or wants- I'm not spying on you!"

Abilities? Is this some sort of game now that I played when I was in elementary with my father-nevermind.

"...Ahem... I will say the abilities you're bringing into your world... Material Formulation, Brain Alteration, Physical Alteration, Screen Conception, Energy Pioneering, Societal Masterminding, Intelligence Initiative, People's Fabrication, Space Manipula-"

Okay. That's enough. I don't want to listen to any more of your bad names.

"Hmph," It took a deep breath, "so you REALLY don't care at all?!" There goes the volcano.

Yeah. It just needs something that can make my weapons. There's no way that I could ever get bored within that world with some weapon-making skills. Probably some additional target practice... never mind. I would never do that. Your attitude is quite the one there for a big, great god.

"Ahh!" It cried, "D-Do you need some explanations for these abilities, T-Tsutomu?" Eh... no need. I can learn later. Hopefully, this doesn't bite my back just as it did before.

"Hm, hm, I will make some adjustments based on your request."

How long is this gonna take...

"S-Shush! You're taking long too! A-Anways, anything else?!" They prattled.

Nothing. I do thank you for your time talking to some mere mortal like me.

"N-No worries, I got lots of time. I thank you... the space-time in the area you are in is significantly slower compared to my Systems. A day here would be around a couple of hours in your world."

Now I can say it, god knows how bored it is here. Funny.

"Well... you no need worry. I can be anything within the Systems. Perhaps, I was a part of your population. Although, I have made some edicts for myself, that, I cannot change the flow of your world unless it's needed."

What, you're controlling yourself? Self-council? How is that possible?

"Enjoy on your new journey, Tsu-to-mu!" It sang...

__________________________________________

The voice vanishes throughout my ears. After that, I hear winds replacing The One's voice. Sounds of trees swaying with the wind. I feel something that feels like grass oscillating on me at the gentle caress of the breeze. Different light hues strike my eyelids. I can tell that I'm in another area, even though I have my eyes closed. And, I'm not lying on the comfortable bed. Gosh, darn it. And instead, a hard cushioned surface. It's like lying on some actual grass. For some reason, I feel different. I feel light. Everything feels different. For my clothing, it's something that I've never felt. Weird. Whatever, I'm just relaxing here. It's pretty cool here and nice. There's nothing to worry about... nothing to think. That's what I like here.

KABOOM.

A gush of wind moves across my body as I jolted my eyes open, immediately stood up, and face-planted myself into the ground. Wow, since when was I this agile? I carried kilograms of equipment and, yet, I'm less flexible than this. I pushed myself up with some difficulty. And, looked into the distance, I saw a cloud of grey smoke coming from a medieval-like town. I do see some medieval people walking towards the supposed explosion. Medieval. Medieval. In my peripheral vision, I see that my white hands are entirely different. It's small. Did I lose some weight? I looked down at myself and saw that I'm wearing some military coat. However, it's somehow familiar. Instead of my shoes, the Jack Boots replaced them. It ends at around the lower half of my calves. It's such weird clothing. You wondered, where are my pants? Then, you start to feel your head and, instead of touching your hair, you felt a helmet. You didn't even realize that you're wearing one. Well, I wore helmets almost all the time. It just... weird?

I undid the chin straps of the helmet I'm wearing and examine it closely. It closely resembles those of the German helmets in World War 2. I'm amazed. It's like wearing history, literally. I wondered if this is how The One sees Isekai's and such. Based on right now, bringing modern equipment into some ancient world. I'm curious about my hair, so I touched the top of your head. It feels silky smooth. I then proceeded to run my hands down the hair. Wait, is my hair that long? I thought I've short hair. I grabbed my hair, and examined it. It's blonde... I guess that it's around waist-length. Whatever... I wear my helmet again and look at the dark cloud of smoke again. I couldn't fathom how imaginative the world is. I see medieval residences, flourishing sceneries, and hills in the distance. What else can this relaxing world offer? Besides that freaking explosion in the town.

Looking around before I say something, "It's so beautiful!" I shouted.

Then comes out a voice that I've never heard. It sounds like a softly-spoken girl. What... it just sounds familiar. Well... it's interesting.

So... The One gave me some new abilities with this new body. How do I even use it? I sat down, and I'm just wondering how to actually use it. Hmm... is it Screen Conception?

Something has appeared right in front of me. It dropped right on the grass. Looking at it, it's insanely futuristic. It's basically a glass pane with some display on top of it. I picked it up, and I can see straight through the wall of text on the tablet. How does this even work? Literal magic? Damn. I'm stumped here.

I'm looking around this tablet-like thing, and I just can't find anything. Whatever... I'm just wasting time. I turned it around to see the display, and it's just a typical tablet. Like, an actual tablet! How convenient! This is Screen Conception? What does it do?

Swiping left, right, up, down... moves the UI. Self-explanatory. Looks pretty easy to use. There are also apps installed on the tablet, like Material Formulation, Brain Alteration. There are many more that looks interesting. The icons for the apps are so generic. I would assume that these are the abilities that The One has given to me. Though, are the icons actually pulled from a stock vector art website? You're very lazy, The One... I would just call you One for now. I don't know if they actually designed it, but they gave this ability, so I would assume that One made it. Heck, there's no screen glare when I hold it up against the light. Man, whoever made this really is the best.

On another thought, didn't One just stripped this off an advanced civilization? Considering that they manage a ton of systems. Wow... don't tell me that I'm looking at what could be possible for humanity. Material Formulation... Brain Alteration... Physical Alteration... it's so interesting! I'm like being hyped up for what it could really do! I'm glad that I didn't get the explanation for it.

Hehe, I licked my lips, and I opened up Material Formulation, and there lies an abundance of information. All organized into a Windows twelve File Explorer. It looks very familiar, and I bet that it's easy to just find something in there. Now... what does it actually do? I swiped around, and there are tons of subfolders with their respective categories. What surprised me is that there are a bunch of sub-folders within a sub-folder. After having a journey around this massive application, I determined that the 'Quick Access' would work the best. It's so tedious going into consumables, drinks, the type of drink, brand, what date of manufacturer, location of manufacture, ingredients, ah! Right now, I'm just screaming inside! I do appreciate it having details on details, but that's too much!

Typing is a breeze on this glass tablet. It doesn't really feel like tapping on the solid glass as it's more of a cushion. It feels kind of weird, I guess? I will just get used to it anyways. Whatever, I created some Binggrae Banana Milk. Six-packs cooled to five degrees Celsius. I don't use Fahrenheit, but I think it around ninety-one.? I don't know... I don't use it at all, except when I'm talking to Americans. Anyways, I'm just hyped up to see the glorious banana milk.

I see a pop-up on the tablet, saying, "Finished!" Then, the banana milk appeared straight on my lap. I'm wearing some kind of black skirt and thigh-high black socks. What an intriguing choice of design, The One. Ahh! Never had one of these in a long time! I quickly dismantled the plastic wrapping and immediately indulged in it. Mmmmm... it tastes so good.

After making that empty sound, I realized that I drank it all. Was it that fast? Wow. I looked around, and I can't find any trash cans. Ah. I banged my head with my hand, and I'm that stupid. There are no trash cans in the middle of nowhere. It's just nature. But, this is something from the modern era. So, I can't just simply toss this in the forest that is right beside me.

After thinking for a while, I had an idea! If Material Formulation can create things, can it remove things? Even though it has formulation in its name, can it remove objects? Wow! Who would've thought of that! I'm so good at thinking. Ha... ha... okay. I looked around me, and I breathe a sigh of relief. There's no one around. Phew.

Scrolling, scrolling, swiping, swiping, I found it. I actually found an answer to my question. There's a delete button in the Quick Access toolbar. Not the solution, but it's progress! Am I right? Right... guys? I looked around. I forgot that there's no one here. I'm having so much fun finding out what this one ability can do while there's a ton of it on this device. I... finally have achieved what I'm looking for. It's just... this simple thing. That simple thing is this tablet that can do anything. That's all?! I covered my face and just screamed internally. Why haven't I done this? I'm finally smiling from this. Haha! I'm just... having fun!

Anyways, I eventually found out how to actually remove things. Select an object, press the delete button, and that empty carton vanished. There are no signs of a breeze at all, just replaced with air. Pretty sure they thought through this. I couldn't imagine having a storm from creating a wide skyscraper in the middle of nowhere.

I sat beside a lone tree on the hill and quietly sipped away the remaining five banana milk. Ah... is this the life I wanted? Finally... it's so wonderful here. There's a calm breeze on me, the sound of the tree swaying above me, and seeing the nice grass out here. It still ticks me off as there's still smoke coming out of that town. Oh, peasants. I will just shrug it off and not care at all.

Now for something that I wanted to do since I got here is to create a weapon. Let's name it... the S1. Yeah... that sounds decent. The more I reiterate it, the more it makes sense. The number one means the first gun I've made, S for something. Well, obviously, S is for something. Damn it... I will just use something as the placeholder.

The application is very detailed, even on the guns! Attachments, composition, rifling, everything! Aaaah! It's amazing! I giggled. I'm just hooked on this as I'm doing things intently on the glass screen.

I lay down on the grass, overlooking the hills on the other side this afternoon. It's hard getting this sniper up-right. A bit on the heavy side! I don't know what target I'm shooting at, so I'm probably just gonna shoot something random. I say... that tree over there! It looks dang nice, somehow has some familiarities with the XM500 and the BFG-50. After doing some final checks of this S1, seasoning the barrel, I looked into the scope... and I breathe...

BOOM.

BOOM.

BOOM.

For each shot, the rifle produced the most god-like vibrations I've ever felt in my life. The cloud of dirt is visible through the scope. I don't think that sudden vibration is because of my new body, well, maybe. It shook the ground through my body, and it made my skin crawl. Hoho! 50 cal, this is one beast of a sniper. My ears went through varying air pressures. Enough to make my ears ring for quite a while. Luckily, my shoulders aren't destroyed from the massive punch of this weapon my great bipod design. My conclusion of S1, awesome! This will be the final iteration.

After designing and testing the weapon, I do appreciate the preview option. It's like an actual preview of what a firearms test is like. See what it looks like on schematics, but more of a rendered model, testing it, adjusting it, and tweaking it for my liking. There's also a safe option as it warns me if it's dangerous for me to use or something like that. It's so incredible! I just can't stop giving compliments to this glass device! Don't worry, S1, you will be getting compliments from me too. I hugged the sniper rifle. I always treat my own weapons with sincerity.

Another question I have, can Material Formulation modify the objects? I have so many wonders about this ability! I can't stop asking for more! While hugging the sniper rifle on the grass, I wandered through the UI and finally found an option to modify things. I spent a lot of time on it... it's right near the delete button. It's called 'modify.' Mm, where is the cleaning? Ah... found it.

Ha. Ha. Applaud me, non-existant audience. I did it! I cleaned my gun with ease! But it just removes the nice part of cleaning the gun myself. I decided on a compromise that I would clean the gun by me, sometimes.

I stood up, grabbed the S1 with my two hands, and I can kind of lift it up for a while before I have to put it back down if it were to happen. Walked back to that lone tree and just relaxed underneath where I was, hugging the rifle. It's so quiet out here... I'm sorry about firing some loud shots to disturb the peace. Please forgive me.

Something caught my eye in that forest I'm facing. There appears to be someone coming out of it. Who exactly... is that? That person doesn't really look like they can walk well. Uh oh. Did they get involved in some war-minor fight? As they get closer, I can see that it's a girl with blonde hair. All battered up. Blood, tattered apparel, everything. She looks horrible. I-I don't like that. It's basically reminding me... never mind.

After watching her stumble around, she spotted me near the tree and appeared to be happy. She's waving her right arms and is walking towards me. Am I gonna rescue her? Eh, I guess.

I stood up, and I saw her fell on the face. Oh no. I rushed towards her and flipped her over, face up. I can see her bloodshot eyes and tears falling over her face. It's time to be serious.

"H-help... me..." She sniffled on her stuttered words.

"No worries, I will help you. You're safe." I carried her and brought her to the tree I was at. I hope that the things that I experienced under the tree must work well on her. I lay her on the tree and quickly created water, cloth, and hearty chicken soup, all on an overbed table. I moved it up to her.

"Are you able to eat or drink at the moment?" I spoke to her in a soft voice.

"N-no..." She sobbed.

Seeing that she's still crying, I sighed. I wiped the tears off of their cheeks with my handkerchief that I found in my weird uniform. Okay, now that's out of the way, what can I actually do? I inspected the apps on the tablet and found one. Physical Alteration. In it, the UI is quite similar to Material Formulation. I would assume that Physical Alteration is used for living things. In it, I can find tons of things, like health, appearance, general things. It also has a wide variety of sub-folders upon sub-folders and is definitely used for living things. There's no time! I must attend to her! Using the same method to modify my S1, I've finally found a way to treat her. In the Quick Access Toolbar, There's a drop-down menu in some edit, and one of them is called 'heal.' Wow! How simple is that?

Looking up from the glass device, I can see that her wounds are gone as she looks way better, but she's still dirty. Her blue eyes look at me and back at her body.

She moved her arms and legs, "T-thank you..!" After realizing what I've done to her, she smiled at me. I felt this warmth coming at me. I... I... feel like I did my job.

"Ah... no need to thank me for that." I was embarrassed, "...Uh, just eat the soup in front of you." I smiled back at her.

She smiled, "...Okay." She focused back on the chicken soup I've created for her. It appears that she really likes it, as she is enjoying each part of it. Thank goodness. At least I made good food. It's the first time I've ever taken care of someone. I-I just did it.

I teared up, watching her eat the chicken soup. I just can't believe it. It's been a long time feeling that way, of happiness. I'm tearing up! After she ate some of the soup, she looked at me and looked confused about why I'm crying.

"...Are you okay?" She pondered.

"I-I'm alright. I'm just glad that you're fine." I hugged her.

"Oh-" She wasn't expecting me to hug her. But she feels kind of fluffy. I felt her arms hugging my back as well.

"What's your name?" I asked.

Some time passed before I hear her answer, "...Satomi." ...Japanese? ...Oh, I have to create a name for myself right away.

"What's yours..?" She inquired. I predicted that she's going to say that.

"My name is Sayuri. Where are you from, Satomi?" I continued hugging her.

"Hillford. I ran away... bad people there! People are yelling!" She squealed.

...I see, "Don't worry, I will protect you from now on..." I assured her.

War will always be present. Regardless of what world I'm in. Even though I don't have the one that I want, I will do my best to give it to others in this world.

"R-really?" I can tell that she's happy.

"Yes. I will."

"T-thank you, S-Sayuri!" She's hugging me with more pressure than ever. Like I'm some sort of pillow. Satomi! You're crushing me!

"C-can you stop hugging me that much?"

She let go of me, "Hehe... I'm sorry." She apologized.

I stopped hugging her and looked into her shining, blue eyes. I smiled at it, "I don't know what I'm gonna do right now, but I can tell that we're going to it together."
