Part 16 Trilogy When Mummy Was Cherries

The alarm went off, and I reached over and patted the empty side of the bed. I opened my eyes and looked around the room. I laid there for a few minutes and took in the aroma of something delicious.

It smelled like pound bread. I got up, put on my pyjama pants, and walked down to the kitchen. I stopped in the doorway as Ru Wen was bent over, pulling something from the oven.

"Is that pound bread?" I asked with a smile.

"Yes, I made it just for you, babe. I got the recipe from Junyi."

I walked over and cupped her face in my hands.

"Thank you, darling and good morning," I whispered as I kissed her.

"Don't thank me yet until you taste it. Because this was my first baked it so I can't promise that it'll be nice just as Junyi made."

Then I put my forehead against hers and taste it as Ru Wen feed it to me.

"Wow, it tastes great better than Junyi. Oops! Please don't tell her that I said that."
