He was late that night. He arrived home at around 10'o clock. I wore the regular corsage he bought me. He brought a pair of shoes that fit me perfectly. It's usually difficult to find shoes for my size. He surely has influence over a lot of people.
He opened the doors of passenger seat. I sat in and he started to drive. I looked back to see if the guards are following us.
"They are not coming."
"Why? Aren't you afraid I'll try to escape from your grasp?"
"I can control you. I hate other men touching you." ---- His obsession is on a totally different level. All those male leads from korean dramas don't stand a chance in front of his dominance ----
"It would be nice if they come. They've been roaming around for the whole day."
"You don't have to be concerned about them" ---- He said fastening my seat belt. His prince syndrome was getting on my nerves. ----
It was a long ride. The darkness of NYC was absorbed by the tiny city lights. The sky was pretty although its difficult to see stars in the city. Throughout the journey I didn't turn towards Reyan. I was relishing the beauty of the country. I never know when I can get out to see all of them again. We finally reached the destination. I unfastened the seat belt and reached out to the door handle. Reyan placed his palm on my hand. "Wait."
I turned around. The faded light from the streetlights fell on his face gracefully flaunting his sharp jawline. His face looked like it was perfectly sculpted.
"Okay." ----I said lowering my head----
Reyan removed his palm and stepped ou of the car. My gaze folloed him until he reached my door. He then looked around and opened the door for me. ---- What is this? Is he trying to seem to be a gentleman? ----
I stepped out. As I eyes went on the water, I smiled like a fool. The breeze was captivating. I was instantly happy. We then walked towards the beach from the parking lot and found a beach to sit. He took out his phone and silenced it. (He is a keeper). There was literally nobody as far as I could see apart from the vendors.
"Do you want to eat something?"
"No" ---- I nodded. I was too happy to waste my time on food. My eyes never left the ocean. ----
The water shined as the moonlight fell, eliciting the revel beauty of the sea. I removed my shoes and crossed my legs on the bench, sopported my chin with my palms. I was absorbing all the air and feels of the open sky.
"What is so nice in this?" ---- it was was first time ever Reyan initiated a trivial conversation ----
"I like this. It feels like I am living an eternal life like the sea."
"Eternal life.." ---- He gave a sarcastic smile. I looked at him and then turned to look at the sea ----
"People say that the sea talks to you if you stand wholeheartedly in front of them."
"Which scientist proved that water talks? I never thought you would be superstitional. Aren't you an atheist?"
This man even knows about my beliefs. It was not surprising at all.
"I am but I feel comfortable when inhale is air and watch the waves play on the beach." ---- He didn't say anything. He was listening like I am telling tales. ----
"It's funny because I am hydrophobic. I cannot bear to go near it. My relationship with this is like that of an idol and a fangirl."
"Weird comparison."
"Hmph … She can watch him from afar and stay happy. But if she wants a deeper relation with him, she cannot survive."
"You have ever tried to go near?"
"I did. I want to even now. " ----- Turning to look at him, in a soft tone I asked him ----- "Can I ?"
He waved at me to go.
I walked bare foot till I reached to a point where the waves didn't reach. I stood there for a while and after sometime of hesitation I slowly walked closer. I foam of the waves gently touched my toes. It felt like I was a child once again. I looked at the sea in front of me and took baby steps till the waves reached my knees. I turned back to Reyan. He was sitting still on the bench like a father watching his daughter playing on beach for the first time.
I waved at him and gave him a smile. He smiled back. It was the first time he smiled so warmly looking at me.
I stood there for some time. My legs went numb, I was not able to move my legs. The waves grew higher. After a while my mind went blank and I was in a tunnel. It was probably an illusion. I had the sense that the scene in front of me is an imagination and I knew I had to walk back to reach the shore. I couldn't move my legs backwards. I was standing still after numerous efforts.
"Annie !" ---- Reyan was calling out ----
I can hear him screaming but I couldn't move my body. It was like I know I'm in a dream but I cannot possibly convince me to leave the dreamland.
At the end of the tunnel there was my house in India. Mom was waiting at the gate calling me to come back home. Dad was parking the car in front of the car.
"Jenny! I made your favorite milk shake. Come here, taste it for me."
"Jenny! Help me park the car da. Only you can park this perfectly."
"I'm coming ma." ---- When I said this my legs were back to its form. I could walk now. I was wearing a jeans and a T-shirt, with flip-flops. I was no more in ocean. The whole scene in NYC felt like a dream. I am in my country with my parents.
"I'll park this later dad. Leave it as it is. Let me taste the milkshake first."
"Okay da. Let's go let's go."
"Mom! I am going to drink the entire jar." ---- It was my sister's voice form the bedroom ----
I walked in. It was dark. She was probably sleeping and just woke up. The bedroom looked as it used to be. Nothing has changed. The curtains, bedcovers were are looking like they missed me.
"I'm tired mom. Store my portion in the fridge. I am going to sleep."
I laid down and within seconds I dozed off.
