Chapter Nine

Sitting in his office a thousand miles away, Mike Lyra stared across the room when a knocked sound at the closed door.

"Come in," he called out absently.

"Mike." Cade greeted walking into the room sheets of paper in his hand closing the door behind him. "I know you let Eon take over the pack budge to get him ready to take over from you as Alpha, but I don't think…"

His words trailed off when he looked up and noticed Mike wasn't paying attention to him.

"Mike," he said in concern noting that ever since the attack a month ago, Mike had been acting odd.

"I got a phone call about half an hour ago," Mike suddenly stated turning to face Cade. "It was Alpha Tony."

Cade's look of concern melted away to shock intermingling with worry. "Why was Alpha Tony calling us?" Cade asked walking over to take a seat in front of the desk.

"It seems he did some asking around and learned that Ember is my niece," Mike explained watching Cade's gaze narrow.
