In Origin, there were three options provided to a player after death.
The first was to be revived in the nearest city.
After being revived in the city, 10% of the XP needed for the current level to level up would be lost, and should the XP drop to 1% of the total XP of the level, the following death would cause the player to level down.
The second option was a soul revival without the body. After death, the soul would be revived in the city and the player's soul must return to where the body was within an hour. The player could be revived with only 2% of XP lost.
The third was to be revived by a Priest. According to the Priest's revival skill type and level, reviving on the spot would see a loss of 5% or less in XP.
Deaths below-level 10 would not lose any XP and the odds of losing equipment were relatively lower. The death of TemperedSteel, TorrentialSea, and ProsperShadow did not cost them anything, so they decided to revive back in the city.
"Those b*stards can never know what happened today!" At the revival point in Guggenheim, TemperedSteel looked rather upset.
"That's right. This is the secret that only three of us know!" ProsperShadow nodded vigorously.
"Don't look at me! If those b*stards know what happened today, we will be the laughing stock until we die. I'd be an idiot if I announced it," said TorrentialSea with a bitter expression.
What an insulting experience in their gaming history!
The three of them had been killed at the same time! In the past, within the game, even those extremely powerful Bosses could barely do it, let alone a lousy monster in the early stage. If those rude b*stards knew about this, their valiant names would be ruined and they would be after-meal jokes for a very long time.
"Okay, it's settled then. Now, let's analyze why we died," said TemperedSteel with a serious expression after all three of them reached an agreement.
"A continuous skill is impossible. After a second thought, the first skill was fake, but it really looked and felt real. That first slash didn't have the damage of the actual skill," said ProsperShadow.
"Great insight. Lastly, it seems like our luck isn't very good. That goon tripped over a stone and it caused his skill to shift, thus he hit us all at once. The biggest problem is the bandit goon's skill. If I remember correctly, it's just a single target skill, yet he hit multiple targets. I guess it's safe to say that in Origin, when a single target skill meets a certain requirement, it can be transformed into a multi-target skill. We can test this theory later. If we are correct, it will be beneficial to our early development."
After the trio was revived with bitter gazes, they started to analyze their cause of death seriously.
"The fake skill should just be a coincidence. Also, the bandit goon being tripped should just be another coincidence. Our positions and our HPs… it seems like an awful lot of coincidence happened back there, I guess our death is a little bit bitter, but being able to learn a lesson before Level 10 is quite an experience, at least we won't make the same mistakes again and we even got something unexpected out of this."
After they summarized their causes of death, the three of them realized their deaths were too coincidental, but other than happenchance, they could not find any other explanation.
Could they accept the fact that they had been deceived by a fake skill from a lousy monster and were killed by some excellent technique?
No! How could they?
The thought flashed in their minds and was instantly rejected.
Even if Origin was unlike other games, a low-level monster could not be this ridiculously powerful. If it was, the first two bandit goons would have been able to wipe it out clean.
However, if Mohai knew the summary of their analysis, he would have still been greatly impressed.
In Origin, single target skill reaching multi-target was entirely possible.
It was considered an expert combat technique and only a handful of players had heard of it. Those who could use it in practical combat were even fewer because the requirements were too severe.
Under normal circumstances, when a single target skill landed on the target, the skill would end and the attack would not have any additional effect, but when a certain set of requirements were met, the skill effect would be extended.
For example, when the common close combat skill, Slash, could meet two basic requirements, it could transform into a multi-target skill.
First requirement: hit the target and kill the target.
Second requirement: the skill cannot fully land on the killed target.
In simple words, after the skill killed the first target, it must attack the second target in the same motion.
It might sound simple but it was actually quite difficult to perform. In the case of Mohai killing three targets with a single target skill within an instant, if anyone else had tried it, they would understand the difficulties. The slightest difference by the millisecond would cause it to fail.
There were a plethora of skills in Origin. Different skills had different requirements to perform a multi-target effect. The requirements were harsh, and even if someone performed it, he would hit an extra one or two targets at most. It was far worse than the multi-target skill which could hit a bunch of players in a single hit. A lot of players knew this, but after some trial and error, they refused to waste their time on it.

Leveled up to Level 6.
Leveled up to Level 7.
Mohai did not expect his level to jump twice after killing TemperedSteel and the others.
According to the player's speed of leveling, on the first day in the game, the player's level would be concentrated between Level 3 and Level 5. On the third day, the level would rise to Level 8 to Level 10. By then, the Level 10 bandit leader would be the goal for players to reach and the bandit goons would be cannon fodder.
Therefore, Mohai's time was running up. He had to level up his template as swiftly as possible and become a bandit leader. Otherwise, he would not be able to face the players' attacks in three days.
Players were not afraid of dying and their number was near infinite. A bandit leader was a Level 10 Elite monster and its attributes would far surpass the players on the same level. GIven Mohai's techniques, he would be able to dish out some astonishing damage, but if the players swarmed him with the human wave tactic, no matter how strong the bandit leader was, he would eventually be killed.
A mere Level 10 Elite monster could not simply leave the activity range that the system set. Mohai must prepare beforehand to face what was to come.
Multi-kill bonus! This is an unexpected surprise.
The large number of XP from killing multiple players surprised Mohai.
In his past life, he had met many NPCs and Bosses before, yet he had never heard of anyone mentioning it. Killing players might be a piece of cake for those powerful NPCs and Bosses, hence the multi-kill bonus might just be something insignificant to them or it was something difficult to achieve.
After a quick thought, Mohai knew his guess was on the right track.
Under normal circumstances, a bandit goon like him could never achieve an instant triple kill. Those continuous kills with lower difficulty and spanned for a long period of time would not reward him with a lot of XP either.
His level jumped to Level 7 in an instant and he was only a level away from Level 8. It was possible to level up his template within the day, hence Mohai decided to hasten his plan.
He did not continue searching for players to kill. Instead, Mohai headed to the Abandoned Mine Area. More specifically, he went to the coordinates in his memory where the ores were produced.
There were two types of ores that could be collected in the Abandoned Mining Area: iron ore and black iron ore. After a player learned the Mining skill, he or she could mine even more low-grade ores.
The same type of ores could be stacked in the player's bag. However, as expected of a lousy low-level monster, there was only a single space for a single piece of ore in the bandit goon's bag.
Nevertheless, Mohai was not terribly concerned. It was just the system limitation so that the bandit leader could not acquire a large number of ores through his bandit goons.
The mole rats would not attack a bandit goon and Mohai had a clear image of the Abandoned Mining Area terrain. After killing TemperedSteel and the others, he spent another ten over minutes to circle around the Abandoned Mining Area and stuffed four out of five slots in his bag with ores. He purposely did not fill the last slot.
If he collected all five ores, according to the setting, he would have to return. He should be fine even if he did not return, but Mohai did not want to cause unwanted trouble.
A mob's setting in the game was cannon fodder without actual intellect with the movement patterns and logic all set, so if he did something out of the box, he might attract attention from the system.
On quite the contrary, if he leveled up his template and became a Boss, the Boss's intellect level would surge and be somewhat comparable to that of players. By then, he would not have to worry this much.
A lot of Bosses and high-rank NPCs in Origin could be described as cunning and smart without the slightest bit of exaggeration.
Ore collection complete. Now, to level up to Level 8.
Mohai was a little excited. After reaching Level 8, he was just a step away from ditching the identity of a goon and becoming an Elite mini Boss.
The bandit leader had an Elite template, and until then, he would be able to use the Template Manager.
Despite Mohai seeing a vast amount of strange items and equipment in the game in his past life, or more precisely his five years in the game, he was still quite curious about the Template Manager.
With the mysterious beautiful NPC, the item which name could not be appraised, and the ultimate goal of all the Bosses, this Template Manager was surrounded by a whole lot of mysteries.
Reaching Level 8 was a requirement in the level-up template, hence the required total XP would not be little. A normal mob-level monster like him could hardly do it, especially when it came to killing Level 3 monsters while being on Level 7, as the XP he gained would decrease by a substantial amount. It was difficult to rely on it to level up to Level 8.
However, if he could work with the multi-kill bonus, Mohai believed it would not take him much time.
Of course, it was not easy securing a multi-kill bonus since he had to kill multiple players in an instant to gain more XP. If the player was a Range by occupation, the multi-kill bonus would be a dream instead.
However, Mohai knew this was a great opportunity for him to secure an even more multi-kill bonus.
In the early stage of the game, due to the lack of healing methods, the Warrior occupation, which had a stronger Attack and decent Defense and had the ability to engage in combat continuously, became the first choice for players for a level rush. On top of that, the occupation chosen during the first entry of the game was just a trial for the players to experience the traits of the occupation. When the players reached Level 10, they would be given a chance to reselect their job, hence the real game would start from Level 10.
That was the reason why TemperedSteel and the other two were Warriors. As a matter of fact, other than TemperedSteel, after achieving Level 10, ProsperShadow and TorrentialSea changed their occupations.
Based on what Mohai knew, ProsperShadow had been an Assassin in the past life while TorrentialSea had been a Sorcerer.
Therefore, there were a lot of Warriors-only newbie groups around for people like TemperedSteel. It would not be that difficult for Mohai to secure more multi-kill bonuses.
As he recalled the leveling spot in the Abandoned Mining Area, Mohai moved towards Guggenheim.
In the leveling spot of the Abandoned Mining Area, there should already be players leveling up.
