Chapter 3:Appleby

After giving myself [C. Lvl:1 Enhanced Reaction] and maxing it out into [B-. Lvl:1 Heightened Reaction], I set off towards Appleby.

On the way to Appleby, the System recommended me to get a sensory type skill. I first thought of Sage Mode from Naruto but unfortunately that wasn't a thing again. Knowing me, the System give me a list of sensory type skills and abilities I could look through.

[Aura Detection]:User can sense the presence of auras and possibly gain detailed understanding about the auras they are sensing, including the amount/size of auras they are sensing and whether they are hidden. Sensing auras also allows the user to view surroundings even with a blindfold, and read the thoughts and movements of other beings by sensing the aura that they emit.

[Aura Reading]:The user can perceive and read auras, normally invisible fields of energy that surround every living thing; this can be used to sense emotions, health status, power levels, or the target's moral alignment. They may also be able to sense auras surrounding inanimate objects under special circumstances.

[Cosmic Awareness]:User is aware of anything that affects them on a universal scale including threats, anything that would affect them in any way, or even somebody talking about them.

[Danger Intuition]:The power to detect impending threats.

[Death Sense]:The user can sense the coming of death, determining when someone is dead or dying or if others have died in a specific location. This may extend to seeing the names and lifespans of those whose faces the user sees.

[Earth Detection]:User can sense the presence of earth and other "earthen" elements and possibly gain detailed understanding about Earth they are sensing, including the amount/size of the earth they are sensing and whether it is hidden. Variations:[Gemstone Detection], [Metal Detection]

[Energy Detection]:User can sense the presence of energy, whether they are electromagnetic (magnetic/infrared), psionic, magical, spiritual, etc. and possibly gain detailed understanding about the energy they are sensing, including the amount/size of energy they are sensing and whether it is hidden.

[Enhanced Senses]:The user has extremely accurate senses, allowing them to see, hear, smell, taste, and feel better than an average member of their species. Variations:[Enhanced Hearing], [Enhanced Smell], [Enhanced Taste], [Enhanced Touch], [Enhanced Vision].

[Essence Reading]:The user can perceive the true essence/nature of anything they observe, seeing past any ability hiding a true self and allows the user to see others for what they really are. This ability is effective against opponents with incredible disguises or shapeshifting abilities, as not even their essence can be hidden from the user.

[Magic Detection]:User can sense the presence of magic/magical energies and possibly gain detailed understanding about the magic/magical energies they are sensing, including the amount/size of magic/magical energies they are sensing and whether they are hidden.

Shomei:"Why isn't Clairvoyance or future sight on this list, isn't it a sensory ability?"

System:Although Clairvoyance is a sensory ability, it won't help the User find someone. Plus the downside of Clairvoyance is if someone attacks the User where they can't see, it really won't help.

Shomei:"Good point"

Shomei:"As for the ability I'll pick, it won't be Cosmic senses since it's too OP. Earth, Magic, and Aura Detection and Reading are out because of Energy Detection and Essence Reading, while Enhanced Senses is out because I don't want to smell shit better and hearing better will probably be a weakness if someone just yells"

Shomei:"That just leaves Energy Detection and Essence Reading"

System:Ding! User has learned [B. Lvl:1 Energy Detection]

System:Ding! User has learned [B. Lvl:1 Essence Reading]

After learning Energy Detection and Essence Reading, I was able to see the outline and energy of the area within 100 meters without opening my eyes. although there wasn't much color, I see different color "balls" or embers inside animals while plants had a green hue to them when I tried to "squint".

(Crash)

Hitting a tree, Shomei:"I guess I should focus more when I'm running"

Getting back up, I start running towards Appleby with my eyes open this time and only using Energy Detection and Essence Reading ever so often.

Getting near Appleby, I see the town's gate up ahead. Shomei:"Wait, do I need some kind of I.D to get in?"

System:Yes, but the User can bribe the guards with about 5 silver each to get in. The User can make an I.D card since you get in and visit a guild hall, there should be a small adventurer's and merchant's hall in the town.

Shomei:"I guess I'll go with becoming an adventurer cliche"

Reaching the town's gate.

Guard 1&2:"Wait, who goes there"

Shomei:"No one you need to worry about right" saying that, I reach into my pocket and "grab" 10 sliver coins from my inventory.

Seeing my bribe, both guards take 5 sliver coins before signing me to go in.

Walking inside, I see that this town isn't the great. Most of the buildings are 2 stories and are made of wattle and daub that looks like they haven't been taken cared for or maintained in years.

Shomei:Hey System, can you should be where the adventurer's guild hall is?

System:Walk for 0.8 miles and after which, to your left will be the adventurer's guild hall.

Following the System's directions, I reach a large building made out of bricks, stone, glass, wattle and daub. Walking inside, I see mostly men drinking in armor mostly made out of leather with some having metal plating. Everyone who saw me stared at me or nudged their friend to look.

Ignoring them, I walk towards the girl at the counter, Shomei:"I would like to apply to become an adventurer"

On her chair, the staff lady stares at me for a couple of seconds before taking out the pipe she's smoking and pulling out some papers, ink, and quill under the counter. Staff Lady:"Read and fill out the application and then give it back to me"

Shomei:"Ok"

The staff lady look like she was in her fifties, had dirty blonde hair, a lot of makeup, and her uniform was messy and unclean.

Setting the papers, ink, and quill on an empty table, I filled out the adventurer's application. Most of it was easy; name, birthday, race, gender, and class while the most hardest question was probably birth location, but the System said I can leave it blank. Although I technically don't have a class, I put mage considering that I started with infinite mana and Creation Magic.

Filling out the second page of the paperwork, it was question relating to if I had any training before and if so where. At the end of the at the end of the page, it asked me if I wanted to start out as an E-rank adventurer and do quest or take a test to see how strong I am and what rank I should be. Not wanting to do boring quest, I check the box for the test.

Finishing the paperwork, walked back to the counter and gave the items back to staff lady, scratching my hand from the itchy quill.

After looking through the paperwork, Staff Lady:"Go down the hallway over there, at the end of it there'll be doors leading out to the back. There you will be tested on the training field by one of the guild's staff members. Good luck kid"

Going through the hallway, some of the adventurers follow behind me. Shomei:"I guess they want to see how I do"
