Chapter 3 : Change

Aldo's wardrobe is filled with glamorous clothing. It is obvious that all were incredibly expensive as the Giesler family is one of the richest noble family in the kingdom. Alex was disgusted to see such extravagant clothes. It reminded him of absurd fashion shows back on Earth. "Did he really wore these?" he thought. "I mean in the novel it is said that he was a fan of glamorous clothes but this is way too much!". Alex found some tasteful clothes and decided to throw away everything else. He then tied his hair into a ponytail as it was irritating to say the least. "First, I need information." He said as he finished tying his hair.

As Alex was walking through the excessively large hallways, he came across a maid. "Young master Aldo." the maid said as she greeted Aldo. Alex was surprised and nodded back. "God, I got to get used to being called Aldo now" Alex, no, Aldo thought.

Aldo turned to the maid and asked "Uhm can you please tell me where the library is?"

The maid was surprised and stared at Aldo for a moment. "J-just at the end of the hall then take a left... Young master." she replied. "Great, thank you!" he replied. As Aldo walked away, the maid just stood there in disbelief.

"Woah" Aldo muttered as he entered the library, its an entire dome with three floors filled with shelves upon shelves of books. On one of the tables, a child is reading with a stack of books on his side. He is so immersed in fact that he didn't realized that Aldo has walked up close to him. Aldo asked "What are you doing?". "B-brother! I-I didn't know you would come here." he said fearfully. He immediately looked down as he made eye contact with Aldo. "I-I'm just studying..." he added. The poor kid was shivering out of fear. Alex was even more repulsed by Aldo's character. What could have Aldo done in the past to have such a reaction from his brother? He thought. "If I remember correctly, Aldo has two siblings. An older sister and a younger brother which were briefly introduced in the novel." Aldo thought as he looked down at his brother. "So this is his little brother, Arlo Von Giesler.". The Giesler family had made a name because of their amazing physical capabilities. Looking at Arlo, he is what the family would consider a defect. It's clear that his physical capabilities are extremly limited. He does excel in intellect but the family would still always look down on him. If not for his high intellect, the family would have already disowned him. Aldo crouched to meet eye level with his brother who is still shivering in fear and gently pat his head. "You're doing great. Keep it up!" he said with a smile. Arlo was surprised by the actions of his brother. His brother never showed him affection before. His brother's hands only brought him pain but now its bringing such a gentle feeling and comfort. Aldo stood up and asked Arlo "Hey little guy, do you know where the family history books are?". Arlo's eyes brightened and he pointed up the second floor. "U-up there... That's where they keep the family related books." Aldo waved goodbye to Arlo and headed to the second floor of the library.

He picked a book from a shelf and began reading. "Hmm. It seems that the story is yet to change and is still the same as in the novel." Aldo mumbled. "However, it may very much change if I am not careful of my actions." Aldo placed the book back and moved down the hall. The Geisler family was never really elaborated in the novel despite being one of the 12 major families in the kingdom. In fact, Aldo was one of the few Geisler characters in the entire novel.

" Aha, just what I was looking for." Aldo said as he retrieved a book titled "Giesler". It was a record of findings and knowledge of all previous generations of the Giesler family.

"It looks like the family is adept in assassinations and infiltrations." Aldo thought. Most of the spells and techniques written in the books are extremely suited in the arts of concealment and trickery. This particular set of skills made the Giesler a prominent name in the kingdom and was dubbed as the "King's executioners".

"Pfft. What a dumb name." Aldo thought. After a few more minutes, Aldo had enough and decided to explore more of the Giesler's home. He took the "Giesler" book with him as he went to the door. Arlo was still on the table studying and awkwardly waved at Aldo when he saw him.

"So the year is the 2066th year after the death of the first emperor. A year before the novel started and by this time next year, the recruitment in the academy would have started." Aldo paused for a moment "10 years away from the great war." Aldo thought.

"Don't worry Eve, I'll make sure you get the proper ending you deserve."
