Chapter 04: Kendrick Chronohart

There were two husbands and wives who hadn't been able to produce the child they had been longing for over the years.

It was the son of the Hero and his wife, Ian and Amelia Chronohart.

At the request of the head family, the S-Rank butler "Hans," who had been serving the hero's family for 25 years. watched the two couples pray every single night for years to have their own child.

Although it pained him as they served the two couples, even the church and many other examiners had told the two couples that having a child was impossible for them, as the woman had an issue with giving birth.

Even though years had passed, the two couples never gave up until the miracle happened. Their struggles had paid off.

The wife of the young master he served finally gave birth to twins. It was the happiest moment of their lives. But the twins are seemed to be rather... Different from the normal ones...

The first of the twin is a boy, unlike other infants, the boy was rather… Strange. The only time he ever cried was the day he was born. The young boy, while growing up, was pretty much silent every time.

When he learned how to stand, the young boy only traveled to the library when their eyes were out of him. The young boy seemed to have a great future waiting for him as a scholar, as the butler didn't see the young master having a future in what their household took pride in, swordsmanship.

Hans once tried giving the young master a wooden sword; however, the young master didn't even pay attention to him and always completely ignored him.

While the other twin was a girl, just like any other infant, the girl was a crybaby; however, unlike her brother, she was rather… Born with huge potential.

On the day the young lady was born, countless spirit kings came to visit to grant her blessings. Even the head of the main household, the hero, had set his eyes on her, seemingly interested in her future growth.

But since they were a family of swords, the head didn't take the young lady from the two couples and decided to leave the future of the young lady to her own accord.

The young lady, as she grew up into an 8-year-old, grew white hair, totally different from the whole household's natural black hair. Due to her huge affinity with mana, the young lady's hair had turned white, according to the church and saints.

And just as they expected, the young lady had grown a life totally different from her brother. The young lady developed a huge admiration for the Hero as she grew up being told tales of the hero and his party upon their adventures. Because of it, she has grown liking to swords and at the same time magic, walking the path of a magic swordsman.

The hero himself directly hired respectable masters for the young lady and gave his full support to her.

On the other hand, the young master lived his life entirely reading books and such. The two couples didn't seem to mind it as they also gave their full support to the young boy. Even so, the butler never gave up on him. From time to time, he would tell tales of the hero's and his party's adventures. But instead of listening, the young master didn't seem to like such stories, as he would always leave with a grumpy face each time.

The young master had no interest whatsoever in swords or magic, unlike his sister.

And at the present…

Hans walked through the huge hallway leading to the library as his usual routine.

The hallway was rather luxurious, as it was covered in red carpets, and the windows were wide open, with the sun shining down on them.

Hans continued walking into the huge hallway and only came to a halt when he was finally in front of the library's door.

What was beyond that door that made him stop? Of course, it was the one and only young master of his. Hans came again to the usual spot where he would find the young lord of his almost every day. Even now, he was determined to force his young lord to learn swordsmanship no matter what.

Hans silently knocked on the library's door before calling out to his young lord;

"Young master, this is Hans. Can I come in?"

Hans asked the young lord beyond the door, only to be answered by complete silence.

"Young maste—"

When Hans was about to call out again for his young lord, a voice of a young child, seemingly in the tone of an adult, disrupted him beyond the door.

"You can come in."

After getting the acknowledgment of his young lord, Hans slowly opened the door hinge. As the door slowly opened, it soon revealed a large room full of bookshelves and books, with two-story high floors.

Hans stepped inside and thoroughly scanned his surroundings. There were large fancy tables with chairs lined up in the middle, while lined up walls of bookshelves expanded till the end of the room everywhere.

He searched everywhere, side by side, until finally spotting his young lord sitting at the corner of the end of the room, reading books without even paying attention to his presence.

Hans crouched in front of his young lord and slowly tried to pull down the book to see his face.

"Young master, you can't skip another day of training… The head will be very disappointed, and so will your father… The battle for honor is coming soon…"

The young lord ignored the rattle of the old butler in front of him and raised the book up to his face again.

Even after being ignored, Hans refused to give up. He tried once more to remove the book from the hands of his young lord, only to be stopped by his cold stare.

"I don't want to train. Leave me alone."

It didn't sound like a child's response at all from Hans's perspective. Although the young lord acted cold in front of him, he could only hope he would change.

Hans was about to stand up and give up, until suddenly, footsteps resounded from afar. The steps were rather rushed, catching Hans's attention as he slowly shifted his gaze in that direction, only to see the young lady he also served running at full speed towards them.

It didn't take long until the young lady made it in front of them.

"Haaahhh… Haghhh… Aghhhh…"

The young lady seemed to be looking so pale after running for so long. She swiped away the sweat on her forehead with her delicate small hands, as she tried to catch her breath.

And after regaining her composure, she glared at the young man and pointed at him before giving him a scolding.

"Kendrick Chronohart! Why are you reading books right now instead of training!?"

It seemed like it was going to be a big problem for Kendrick.
