Where Is My Humanity!?

" Congratulations Megumi, you passed the test."

The familiar voice echoed throughout the vicinity, instantly prompting him back to his senses. He looked around to see where it was coming from, but apparently, there wasn't anyone close by; not even their presence could be felt.

" You mischievous snake, I knew from the start that you had a hand in this." He said, still looking around the place in search of the voice he just heard.

" Hold on now. There's absolutely no need for you to start jumping into conclusions just because it's me, boy. I've yet to tell anyone what you made me do for your information." The serpent said, slowly crawling up towards him from behind.

Being his father's familiar and of great power as well, it was left behind with them as some watchdog, a mere guard for him and his sister.

He came to know it a few years after his birth and it ended up using his disadvantage as a way to prey him into his hungry seeking for power. It was the one that orchestrated the plan with Yuki, and it already knew that he had some sort of connection with her.

But he had yet to tell him about the system or even anything consigning the binding. This meant the mischievous entity was left at a standpoint and was simply using what had happened as a form of blackmail to try and get the truth of the strange phenomenon between both of them out of him.

He had simply used the fact that Yuki was able to awaken her external talent as well to rid himself of the guilt, but memories of what happened would come flashing back each time he laid eyes on the damned creature.

It wasn't that what he had done was wrong in most ways, but it was defaming to the picture his family had set for all these years, and the snake was using it as a way to fill him with guilt.

" Shut up, you piece of shit; now show me the way out of here." He ordered, promptly turning to face the crawling beast.

" Follow me." It hissed, crawling past him.

The snake continued forward to the place where the routes split up. It turned towards the southwest route and he slowly followed behind it.

It was minutes later in their slow journey that he caught a glimpse of a building that was only a few more meters away from them.

" A beach house?" He mumbled as he continued forward.

Finally arriving at the building he was amazed at how large it was. It was a decent beach house with a white exterior.

The servants quickly came to his aid as soon as he arrived which he found quite strange. They all had certain routes they followed based on their shifts for the day and unless asked to, none of them would do anything outside their objectives and routines.

It was obvious that someone had ordered them to do whatever it was they were trying to do. Offering to help him take off his clothes and scrub his back? What the hell were they thinking?

Aside from his mother, there wasn't any other female who had seen him completely nude and he wasn't planning on it happening either way.

" I'm fine on my own." He rejected their offers as he slowly walked into the house.

He marveled at the sight of what he was seeing — the interior walls were painted the same color. Strangely though, every other thing in the room was mostly white aside from the flat screen to his right.

Ignoring the beauty of the house for a moment, he turned his gaze towards a key that had been given to him. It had a number attached to it.

From the looks of it, it would appear that he would be staying in room five, and one of the servants already told him that it was already cleaned up and arranged in expectation of his arrival.

One of them had offered to show him to his room but he immediately rejected the offer and instead took the key. He was used to having bodyguards behind him, and he also liked the feeling it gave him, but anything other than two people walking close by behind him seemed a bit too much.

He proceeded towards the stairs, taking each step slowly as he adored the care that had been put into building such a masterpiece.

" Megumi." A familiar female voice came from behind him just as he was about to finish going up the stairs.

He would remember that feminine voice even after a hundred years, with the last time he heard it being immediately before he was forcefully brought to the godforsaken place.

" Yes, mother." He answered, quickly turning around.

" I'm sorry for bothering you; you must have been on your way to your room. Go take a shower now, okay? We'll be having lunch shortly." She said, looking straight at him with a brimming smile.

He paused for a moment after hearing what she said. For the first time ever, he was being so formal, and it happened so unexpectedly.

He called her ' mother,' which seemed very strange to him and never for once happened, both in his past life and after his reincarnation.

" I will mo-mother."

Quickly, he ran straight to his room after saying that. He didn't feel like he was in control of himself after everything that just happened.

It felt like his limbic system had undergone some sort of disorder. His level of emotion had reduced considerably in the past few hours and he couldn't even force a smile onto his face once again.

" What the hell is happening to me?" He thought, slapping himself repeatedly with his gaze fixed on the mirror.

He hurt himself, read some funny memes, and tried to remember some sad parts of his life, but nothing happened like it usually would. His face remained expressionless as ever.

After minutes of a fruitless check on his human emotions, he dashed out of the room in search of a certain something.
