Chapter 63 - Search and Destroy (2)

The girls had listened to everything that was being said and were surprised about how much information that Shallot seemed to know. Weiss always just saw him as a goofball that would hit on everyone in their team except her for some reason.

Yang always thought he only cared about his libido mostly and training. She also thought that he was slightly overprotective of them. Blake always thought that he spent most of his time training and traveling but didn't know what he learned in his travels.

While Ruby wasn't that surprised since Shallot said once while wearing a white doctor's coat while working on the scythe with him Saiyan that he is a great warrior and scientist. He was also wearing a red bandana on his head for some reason.

Oobleck: "Have you told anyone about this so far Mr. ??? Do you have a last name Shallot?"

Shallot: "No I don't. Wasn't with my parents long enough to get a last name."

Dr. Oobleck goes quiet thinking about that then says slower than he usually talks.

Oobleck: "Sorry to hear that."

Shallot: "It's fine. They are probably dead at this point."

Weiss: "YOU CAN'T SAY SOMETHING LIKE THAT ABOUT YOUR PARENTS."

Shallot raised an eyebrow at that.

Shallot: "It's most likely true though. People of my "kind" usually don't make it to old age before they are killed going off on a mission. Even the children know that the missions have a high mortality rate."

Shallot: 'That's not really a lie. Most Saiyans that aren't strong enough die on their missions and even the children that are sent on destruction missions if they have a low power level.'

Oobleck: "Kind?"

Shallot: "I come from a tribe of warriors who are always fighting so death is something to expect."

Everyone's eyes widen hearing that and stay quiet until they arrive at their destination with Ruby holding onto Shallot's clothes tighter and Blake snuggling closer to him.

After another 45 minutes of flying the ship starts slowing down letting them know that they have arrived.

They all walk off the ship and start to survey the area.

Oobleck: "You still may be students, but as of this moment, your first mission as Hunters and Huntresses has begun! From this point forward, you need to do exactly as I say! Do you understand?"

Dr. Oobleck looks at Ruby.

Oobleck: "Ruby! I thought I told you to leave all of your bags back at school."

Ruby turns and looks at Shallot that has his duffle bag with him and she can see glowing eyes peeking out of the bag at her.

Ruby: "But, uh, you hadn't told us to listen to you yet. So I didn't."

Oobleck: 'She's not wrong...'

"Very well, Ruby; leave your bag here, we can pick it up upon our return. You too Shallot. I have already prepared everything that we will need for this expedition."

Ruby: "But I, well uh-"

Oobleck: "Young lady, what in the world could you possibly have in that bag that could be so important to bring it with..."

Dr. Oobleck stops as the bag's zipper opens and out pops Zwei's head, causing everyone except Shallot to stare at the uninvited guest.

Shallot slides his duffle bag slightly further behind himself making sure that Merlin isn't seen.

Ruby looks towards Shallot for help when Merlin also sticks her head out of the bag starting to feel cramped.

Merlin: "Nya.."

Ruby whispers to Zwei through the side of her mouth

Ruby: "Get back in the bag."

Shallot just picks Merlin up and holds her not caring at this point anymore. He's taking Merlin with him whether Oobleck likes it or not. She also knows how to hunt since he tested if animals in this world could use ki.

Shallot: "I have nothing to hide."

Shallot places her on the ground just pets Merlin with Merlin purring and starts rolling around with Shallot squatting down playing with her.

Zwei merely barks in response saying that he won't be silenced.

Oobleck: "We're here to investigate an abandoned urban jungle teeming with death and hostility, and you brought... a dog and a cat?"

Ruby: "I, uh..."

Oobleck: "Genius!"

Dr. Oobleck backs away long enough for Ruby to give a confused shrug before speeding past and snatching the pet away from Ruby, who tumbles to the ground as Oobleck spins Zwei in the air. Canines are historically known for their perceptive nose and heightened sense of sound, making them excellent companions for a hunt such as ours!

Cats are descendants of tigers that have been domesticated and have evolved differently then their large feline companions. Even though they are castly smaller they still contain their hunting instincts of their predecessors."

Zwei barks happily in his hands and Merlin tilts her head up in pride before going back to rolling around for being rubbed.

Dr. Oobleck looks towards Merlin and she stops rolling around on Shallot's legs and arches her back hissing at Dr. Oobleck as soon as he was planning on charging towards her. Dr. Oobleck looks impressed at the cat for noticing his movements and decided to not move closer to her.

Ruby had enough time to react to everything and sprung up releasing Shallot's arm while yelling out.

Ruby: "I'm a genius."

Weiss and Yang both facepalm at their grinning leader.

Blake: "So, what are your orders, Doctor?"

Blake had already let go of Shallot after exiting the ship so that she could stay on the look out even though she knows nothing will happen with Shallot here. She also knows that he doesn't want her to become overly reliant on him so she can react to any situation.

Oobleck: "Ah, yes, straight to the chase; I like it!"

Dr. Oobleck suddenly lets go of Zwei, suspended in the air for less than a second before dropping down, to put his hands behind his back for a serious pose.

Oobleck: "As you've been informed, the southeast area has been marked as a recent hot spot for Grimm activity. Now, there are several possible explanations for this behavior, one of which being... Grimm."

Ruby was just as confused as her teammates for the redundancy.

Ruby: "Uh, what?"

Shallot looks up towards a Beowolf Grimm he can see in the distance and points a finger at it.

Shallot: "He's talking about the Grimm over there."

Shallot then charges a ki beam on his fingertip and blasts it towards the Grimm causing a small explosion in the area where the Grimm was standing.

Everyone's eye open at that except for Merlin and Blake looking as if nothing happened knowing that that was the common result if Shallot isn't playing around.
