Chapter 147 - Gaming Master

Inside Team RWBYS room Shallot was sitting there watching Ruby play against her uncle in a fighting game. Neo was sitting on top of his lap

"You'll never beat me, old man!" Ruby said while mashing the two action buttons on her scroll.

'Never thought her uncle would enjoy video games.' Shallot thought while the fight was pretty close.

"You're nothing but talk, kid!" Qrow said while mashing his buttons with a pattern to them.

"You can do it, Ruby!" Yang cheered from the side.

The fight music from the game filled the room until Shallot saw Ruby losing.

The screen of the video game Ruby and Qrow are playing shows one of the pixelated ninjas decapitates the other, with the announcer saying "SOARING NINJA WINS! TOTAL ANNIHILATION!"

Qrow grins victoriously at Ruby that he won.

"Ouch!" Yang said looking at the close fight that Ruby could have won.

Shallot sat Neo down to the side while walking over to Ruby while rubbing her back.

"You'll get him next time. I can show you some moves in the game later." Shallot said then leaned closer to her ear. "I can also show you some moves in the bed." Ruby faced turned red while trying to laugh it off while her uncle was here trying to hit Shallot.

Yang came over and took the scroll from Ruby for the next match since she had gotten better from playing with Shallot sometimes even though she could never beat him. \

"Alright, my turn."

Shallot stops them before they could start the match.

"How about you play a different fighting game that's better than this one." Shallot said while running another program from his scroll to the screen.

They could hear music coming. (The Immortals - Techno Syndrome)

Yang heard the music and had flashbacks of bicycle kicks while shuddering.

"I don't think I want to play anymore," Yang said while handing the scroll to Shallot.

"Don't mind if I do." Shallot said while taking a controller out getting ready to show why he is the gaming master and the strongest in fights. Shallot went to the drawer grabbing another controller handing it to Qrow.

Qrow hadn't seen a controller like this and was curious. It had the four-movement button but also two pads in the middle. It had four buttons on the side and four buttons on the front of the controllers.

Shallot went and picked Liu Kang.

Qrow was looking down at the new controls that were on the pad in front of him. It wasn't the basic two-button and movement pad anymore but he could tell that it was a good controller to use. He didn't know how to use it though.

"Can you explain how to play to him, Yang?" Shallot asked her.

Yang got a mischievous smile now thinking that her uncle wouldn't know how to play but she could get an easy win in.

Yang took the controller from Shallot while hitting the circle button and chose another character.

"The circle button is the go back, while the x button is to accept. The triangle and square buttons aren't used unless fighting in the game. The button that looks like a play button is the start button so that you can join as player two." Yang started explaining how to use what was essentially a PlayStation controller.

Shallot was listening to her explaining it until she finished when she chose Sub Zero

"SUB ZERO!" The game announced out.

Qrow went and chose the character that looked like a ninja.

"Scorpian!" The game announced out.

"FIGHT!"

"The buttons are simple. Here's a list with all the controls so that it will be easier to learn," Ruby said while handing her cheat sheet for the game she keeps with her since she always loses against Yang.

Back Punch - Triangle

Front Kick - Cross/X

Back Kick - Circle

Throw - L1

Flip Stance - L2

Interact - R1

Block - R2]

Qrow overlooked the sheet thinking that this game must be complicated.

Qrow could see the ticker going down and moved his character towards Yang's character. Yang had a smile on her face while the Qrow character was getting closer to her.

"Oh, you're approaching me?" Yang asked.

"I can't beat you unless I get closer," Qrow said while he was about to hit a button but Yang already started her attack.

She pressed the back arrow and x then pressed triangle which gave a hook to the stomach of Scorpian. While Qrow's character was in a stun animation she went to the next combo. Down, right, square button which shot an ice ball freezing his character once he was out of the stun animation.

She then went and pressed up and over then pressed the right arrow button again with the square button sending an ice kick. After the combo was finished 1/10th of his health bar was gone.

Qrow wasn't expecting his niece to be this good but he had never played with this kind of game before and thought it was pretty interesting.

Qrow was thoroughly smashed in the game with him chuckling thinking it wasn't in his favor.

"Flawless Victory!!!" The game said which the more Qrow heard it the more it sounded like Shallot's voice but just deeper.

Shallot walked over holding his hand out for the controller. The matches were the best of three and Yang was up by one.

"Let a gaming master show you how it's done." Shallot said.

Yang was about to hand the controller to Ruby when she saw Shallot grabbing the controller but Ruby was on the other side of the room with Blake.

Yang thought that maybe she can win this time since Shallot wasn't using Liu Kang and he always played with him. Yang started her attack but was immediately countered.

Shallot went with the dirtiest move combo he knew. The hack and slash combo.

While Sub Zero was on the counter he had a split second and he would prioritize it. Forward + X, triangle was the first move starting the hack and slash.

Scorpian did a front kick bringing Sub Zero up from his stun before being slashed with the kunai then he disappeared into a portal punching him. While that happened Shallot continued pressing down, forward then x, and the right trigger on the controller making Scropian swinging up sending Sub Zero into the air before he was kicked.

Qrow was watching Yang's health bar going down with his mouth open seeing that while also looking at Shallot fingers tapping each button. While Sub Zero was in the air falling he hit forward X sending a flying kick closing the distance and then tapping square twice sending two punches.

"This is called a combo leading into a juggle." Shallot said like what he was doing was easy. Before Sub Zero could hit the ground pressed back, forward, then square sending a spear out pulling Sub Zero closer then slashing him with a sword making him fall to the ground.

Yang was starting to try to get her character up seeing that 1/4 of her health bar was already gone from that one combo.

"This isn't fair!" Yang said while trying to get her character up.

Soon as Sub Zero was halfway up Shallot continued the combo. He pressed fup and triangle sending a sword strike upward knocking Sub Zero into the air then went back into the hack and slash combo. After that went into a spear move making it so Yang couldn't use any of her ranged moves.

Yang couldn't get a single hit off before she saw the last of her health drain.

"Flawless Victory!!!" The game voice announced out to them.

Shallot handed Qrow back the controller with Yang looking like she wanted to strangle Shallot.

Qrow was thinking that he got the gist of how to play but knew he couldn't win against them in this game so he thought of something else.
