Chapter 52: Decision

Walking around the Iron Blade sect was Ken Hai and Fa Ken the two were telling each other of what they did during the months they were apart.

"So you came back after four months travelling?"

"Yes Fa Lin and I got a bit homesick plus I've been gone for a bit longer so we returned."

"I see, speaking of Fa Lin where is she?" Asked Ken Hai, Fa Ken simply replied "She's at the Golden eye Pavilion, she has classes today."

"Eh! So she goes there too?" Ken Hai asked "Well yes she's the sect Lord daughter my uncle."

"I never knew that. That's surprising." Ken Hai reply with a bit of surprise in his voice, Fa Ken then got up. "Why don't I show you around the city."

"Sure I don't mind."

"You should try the food though it might not be as good as yours. By the way after the tour can you cook a couple dishes?" Said Fa Ken as a bit of drool ran down chin.

"Hahaha! Sure why not." Laughed Ken Hai as the two walked off.

- Later -

Walking around the shopping district Ken Hai followed after Fa Ken. "This is our shopping district. Here you can find shops and vendors selling all kinds of items."

"Oh! Old man Lee is selling his special roasted Blue tailed duck! You should try it Ken Hai."

"Alright then." As we walked over the old man at the stand smiled "Oh! Young master Fa Ken thank you for coming to this old mans shop!" He Saud as he bowed. "Here these are on the house." He said as he gave us two skewers with duck meat on it.

"Old man Lee you shouldn't be giving away your merchandise so easily! Here!" Fa Ken then gave the old man some silver. "This is too much!"

Fa Ken only smiled "It's good enough old man, I heard Li'er was sick again that should help pay for medicine." He says the old man could only bow and thank him. Fa Ken is seriously a good guy I'm starting to doubt this guys isn't the reincarnation of some hero are something. Is this really even a cultural world?

Taking a bite off the skewer I assess it. "Hmmm, I see. Old man you should go a bit lighter on the salt add, add a bit more crimson beat pepper corn and bit of fire heart pepper."

Hearing this the oldman raised an eyebrow. "Old man Lee you should take Ken Hai's advice he's a master chef!" said Fa Ken.

"Alright youngmaster Ken I'll take his advice,." said the oldman with a bow but as we walked off he thought 'Ken Hai? Where have I?'

A bit later we came across a couple people standing around a large cloth with a multiple large rocks on them.

"Fa Ken what are they doing?" I ask. "Oh they are artifact gambling. Those the rocks contain artifacts found in ruins from thousands of years ago. With just a silver piece your able to buy one, however if you may get something completely garbage which is why it's called artifact gambling."

'Reminds of the shitty gacha system in fgo. When I played the Puzzle and Dragons Game I got about 5 gods in a week and they are 5 stars! Fuck Fgo!' (Yes this happened to me and gods are way stronger than most monsters.)

"I see I wouldn't mind buying one then." I said as I walked over and scanned them all. "Be careful Ken Hai I once lost all my allowance on this and had to go hungry for a couple days." he warned.

"Thanks for the warning." I thank him as I kept scanning the rocks. 'Trash, Trash, Trash, that's just the hilt of a broken sword, those pills were incredibly amazing but they are expired atleast I have the ingredients and is that rock just holding the poop of a martial beast, oh it's still alive.'

'Oh there's something good.' I then pick it up and payed the old man. "Let's open it!" says Fa Ken when suddenly.

"Ahhh! I'm sorry, please don't hurt my family!" shouts a man as he gets kicked in the face.

"Tut Tut! Little mortal you shouldn't have flaunted your daughter and wife in front me." said a teen who looks about Fa Ken's age, he was wearing beautiful blue robes and he held a fan in his hand.

He also had blue and a black hair with a bluish hue, he had two men with him who I could only guess was his body guards. Who is-

"That's Yan Hi!" said Fa Ken as he gritted his teeth.

"Please youngmaster mercy. Let my family go!" He begged but his pleading was only met with a kick to the face from one of the bodyguards.

"Hmph! Just shut up and die! Kill him!" said the Yan Hi as he ordered his guard to behead the man. I was about interfere but it happened before I could do anything.

He lost his life, everyone on the street turned away, ignoring what happened as they went back to their business they all had either scared look on their faces or conflicting feelings.

"Take his wife and daughter to my quarters, I'll have fun with the both of them tonight." he says he looks at the mother daughter pair who were crying. They were grabbed by his guards.

"No let go!" shouted the mother as she tried fighting her way out of the body guards hand but it was no use. A foundation realm is many times stronger than an Olympic athlete or a body builder there's now way she can get free.

"Father Father Father!!!" the little girl cried her eyes as she saw the dead body of her father.

Seeing this play out I was shocked, really shocked, shit like this didn't happen in Red iron city without punishment.

Then I was reminded, that this was a cultivation world, a dog eat dog world. I was naive, it was just luck I've managed to interact with so many good people and even then I just simply avoided dealing with shitty people.

Screw the rules, screw keeping my abilities a secret. I'm done, I'm not gonna let innocent people suffer like this! I was once like them too!

"Stop!" I was stopped by Fa Ken who placed a hand on my shoulder. "Don't do it, you'd just make enemies of the Lightning Spear sect!"

"Bu-" I looked at his arm it was clenched so tightly it was bleeding. I used an invisible X-ray rune on my eyes to his arm was covered in veins he was obviously angry.

- Later -

"Unlike Red iron city, most places treat mortals like they are disposable toys." said Fa Ken as he looks at the bandage around covering his hand.

"I see, so that happens a lot."

"No but sometimes..." he was quiet for a few minutes. "I'm sorry you had to see that." he said but I shook my head. "No you were right and if you didn't stop me, his sect would've targeted you and your sect, since we're acquainted."

Hearing this he sighed and hanged his head low. "I love this city and it's people, but every time I see something like this happen to the weak, I always get so-!" he big his lips as he clenched his fist.

"Angry." I reply he nods. "But I can't do anything, all my life I've been propped up as some kind of genius, yet I can't even protect an innocent person, all I can do is only to hold my head because I'm afraid of offending a much bigger faction that'll seek revenge on my family!" he says pain fully evident in his voice.

This guy is way too god for this world. Why'd did someone like him had to be born in a shit world like this?

"Isn't that just pathetic?" he asked me with a sad smile as tears rolled down his face.

"No it isn't. In the end power is what rule this world, so you need even more power than those with so much power they can flatten mountains. So it's simple get enough power to topple this dog eat dog world.

Make a world where both mortals and cultivators get equal opportunities and rights. But remember they are many types of power, power to destroy entire cities with a punch, power to influence the masses with a single word, the power of wealth and the power of connections.

Hearing my words Fa Ken gained a resolute look on his face. It seemed he made decision, so did I.
