Chapter 301

Ashley went to the guild in Theapan Capital where Seon worked as Theapan's guild master. It was what his master had asked him to take care of. His attention still remained on sensing his connection to his master. The more he focused on that connection the more he could tell that his master was getting further away as they headed in opposite directions. It made him uncomfortable to know his master was getting further away from him but he had a task to take care of. There was no choice but to ignore it and hurry back once things were done.

Arriving at the guild he felt troubled at the sight of it. A place full of different mortals coming and going. Whether they were doing missions or gathering to meet up with other guild members it seemed like the number of people who worked for the guild had increased since Seon had taken control over the guild locations in Theapan. It was worthy of someone who had control over the guild chains in two separate kingdoms. The guild's success was rising after Seon took control and their efficiency had improved. When it came to money that was where Seon's talent and interest belonged.

Though he hardly uses the money he earns on his own interests, Seon truly worked to earn a profit. Ashley could tell at a glance that he guild master put a lot of work into earning money. However he had looked into Seon enough on his own accord to know that where Seon spent his earnings was rarely on himself. He was an honorable mortal who spent his earnings in other areas.

He is basically a wandering relief fund for the sick and wounded. Ashley sighed to himself. That was probably why Seon could easily win over people to work for him through the guild chain. It was also probably his reason for so easily being won over by Vorbuk.

Knock! Knock!

Ashley tapped on the guild master's window. It was on the third floor of the guild's building. Inside the room through the glass he could see Seon sitting in his chair with Edwin his butler. They were both startled as they flipped around to look at the window.

Edwin, the demi goat stormed his way across the room. Swinging the window wide open his hands reached outside. Grabbing the vampire by his clothes roughly.

"Master, how should I deal with this intruder?" The goat huffed with his face close to Ashley's as he glared at him right in the eyes.

Seon stood up and held his hands up to stop Edwin from tossing the vampire down from the window, he was not sure why the vampire chose to knock on the window on the third floor rather then use the door like a normal person, "Wait, Edwin, he works for King Vorbuk."

"He was disrespectful," Edwin snorted slightly as he spoke further, directly to the vampire, "There is a door for a reason."

"It was crowded and a waste of time." Ashley bluntly spoke his opinion on coming to see Seon like a normal person would. He was not normal and not interested in becoming like the others. It did not matter to him in the slightest.

Seon's bunny ears twitched as he rushed forward and grabbed hold of Edwin's arm from the side, "Edwin, let our guest inside. I presume he is here to meet with the pirate captain. You should go and bring him here for me."

Edwin hesitated before yanking Ashley's clothes roughly so that the vampire fell. He landed face first on the floor of Seon's room in the guild. Edwin did not pay any mind to the vampire's grumbling and groaning from his landing. Instead he casually closed the window back tight. He did not want Master Seon to catch a chill from the wind.

"Must you be so rough with our guest?" Seon asked his butler with a sigh as he watched Ashley wordlessly stand back up on his feet. The vampire simply dusted himself off without a word as if he was unfazed by Edwin's behavior towards him.

Edwin snorted without a response and left the room while saying, "I shall go and retrieve the pirate captain now."

When Edwin was gone the guild master turned to Ashley, "Are you really going to let your master go to Drethia?"

"... I follow master's command." Ashley could not deny that he felt strange about allowing his master to go to the Drethia Kingdom.

It was a dangerous place known as one of the most dangerous kingdoms. The thought of his master going to that place chilled him to the core. He could not hide his expression as it darkened at the thought of it. Having been born in Drethia and living there when he was a younger vampire had left a dark impression on Ashley when it came to that place. It was a kingdom that left both him and Aoki scarred for life.

Seon could not understand him and asked, "You have already done some horrible things in order to protect him, Ashley. Are you worried he will resent you even more if you help him again without permission? What if he dies out there this time?"

"I will protect him because I am going with him." Ashley was willing to do whatever he had to in order to protect his master's life. He would not wait for a new master when he already found the one he wanted to serve. It would be impossible to find a master who respected him as much as Vorbuk had done for him.

Seon knew the vampire was determined to earn back the respect of his master. Even if going to Drethia was a high risk to them. The vampire was determined to not anger his master further and simply chose to protect him as much as possible from the threats out there. He could never go as far as Ashley did for the beast. It almost made him feel guilty that he couldn't even consider it.

His loyalty makes even me exhausted just from seeing it. Seon sighed internally as he thought to himself.

"A piece of advice," Seon picked up a glass off his desk as he sat down and brought it to his lips, "I would make sure that you keep a careful watch on him over there. You should not need me to suggest such a thing since you have been there, Ashley, but I too... Have seen how horrible that place is."

Guild Master Seon had dealt with Drethia during missions for the Cista king when he lived over there. There were many times where he had to take care of stray vampires that left the Drethia Kingdom. Vampires from Drethia Kingdom were violent beyond mere killers. They had long served under a king that followed the God Chynir.

If Vorbuk is not careful when he enters Drethia he could get himself killed before realizing he was under attack. They do not merely kill you in Drethia. The vampires enjoyed a hunt and toying with their prey. Few mortals go to Drethia because if you could not protect yourself against the vampires it meant going to Drethia was no better then attempting suicide. If the vampires did not kill you there was also the risk that they would turn you.

A companion beast can not be turned so if the vampires catch him their only interest will be in killing him or forcing him to become their companion. Seon thought about it and found himself worried. He could not understand why it bothered him so much.

Do I care because he seemed to be an honorable man? Seon pondered.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

"Master, I have brought the man as requested." Edwin's voice called to Seon from outside the room's door as he waited permission to bring the pirate captain inside.
