Chapter 300

Vorbuk sat in the carriage with Queen Sylica as she prepared to stand up once again. Before she could move an inch the door to the carriage was opened by Prince Leo.

"A new carriage has arrived, Vorbuk. Shall we leave in that one? They said the issue with the wheel could take a while to repair." Prince Leo spoke as he looked up at both of them where they sat.

The wolf nodded, "Yes, we shall return for now in the other carriage they brought for us."

"What about her majesty?" Prince Leo asked while glancing over at her.

Queen Sylica started to climb down from the carriage. When the prince noticed her coming out he reached out his hand for hers. It was a gesture out of respect to help her down. Once her hand was gently in his own the prince's face flushed slightly. Guiding her down carefully out of the carriage.

She smiled politely at the prince, "I will be taking my leave."

If Vorbuk was a human he felt like his expression would have dulled. He felt like things were weird between the prince and the queen. Choosing to ignore it he lay there quietly and did not speak a word.

"Leaving?" Prince Leo muttered the word out loud. He thought that the wolf was trying to coax the queen to stay with them at the palace.

What happened while I was outside the carriage? He thought to himself.

Queen Sylica did not say anything in return. Turning to the carriage to look at the wolf inside she bowed respectfully. The wolf was in the middle of getting up so that he could climb out of the carraige as well. Without a word further she decided to leave them both behind.

"I thought you were trying to get her on our side? I guess she was more difficult then we hoped for." Prince Leo could only imagine the wolf had failed to convince the dragon to help them.

"At least she will remain in Theapan for now. I think she will come around eventually." The wolf replied to him while jumping down from the carriage before continuing, "Do you have a thing for the queen?"

Prince Leo took a step back to avoid the wolf bumping into him from the side. His expression was one of shock at first before blushing at the question. Hiding his face behind his hand he responded, "I do not know what you are talking about. When did I ever say such a thing about her majesty?"

She is a dragon so her age is irrelevant because she doesn't age like a human does. It is not impossible... Vorbuk thought about it. In fact the prince could probably end up with worse.

"Would you get that thought out of your mind already?!" Prince Leo could tell from the look on the wolf's face that his mind was still thinking about it. It made him feel uncomfortable the more he knew the wolf thought about it. He did not want to talk about the queen any further.

Climbing into the temporary carriage together they started to head for the palace once again. Prince Leo watched the wolf as they began to move. The beast was watching out the window at the surroundings of the Theapan Capital as the carriage moved. It was peaceful briefly.

"Master~!" A familiar voice called out suddenly from outside the carriage causing them to jolt from their conversation.

The wolf turned and looked to see Ashley climbing inside the moving carriage from its door. Prince Leo could feel his heart racing from the sudden startle. It felt like he would never get use to how Ashley like to appear out of nowhere.

How long has he been following? No, when he got word we were leaving he probably followed us. Prince Leo thought to himself as he glared at the vampire. Not seeing the vampire was not enough to presume he was not there. However, Vorbuk did not seem surprised to see him.

Has he grown use to the vampire already? He seemed less surprised then he normally had been.

"Do you not have anything better to do with your time?" Prince Leo could not stop himself from asking out of annoyance. He wanted to kick the vampire right back out of the carriage door as he was climbing inside. Holding in his desire to slam his foot into the vampire's face he quickly helped him inside before he could cause a problem for them.

Ashley smiled brightly, "I am always using my time to benefit master."

"Enough, what does he need?" The wolf asked the prince.

"What do you want?" Prince Leo asked the vampire since he could not understand Vorbuk in wolf form.

"Wh-What is going on?" The carriage driver outside was startled by the sudden occurrence.

"Everything is fine! Keep driving and do not interfere!" Prince Leo called out to the driver before turning to Ashley to add on, "Are you trying to cause an accident?"

"I overheard news that the pirate has officially arrived at the Theapan Guild with guild master Seon." Ashley relayed the information he had received. As a servant to Vorbuk he kept his attention split among several places. He was always doing what he could to be useful to his master. That included eavesdropping when necessary and secretly meeting with those important to Vorbuk.

As king Vorbuk could not always be the one in charge of meeting every single person that he made deals with. Ashley was perfect for stealthy tasks because he was capable of coming and going without being noticed by others. That left him the role of filling in when Vorbuk could not take care of a task himself. With his loyalty the beast did not question him. Though that did not mean he trusted him completely either after the things he had done in the past.

"Will you being going to meet with them?" Ashley asked as he sat down beside Prince Leo while ignoring the prince's expression of distaste for being so close to each other.

The wolf shook it's head as he looked at the prince, "Send him to Seon and have them arrive at the palace tomorrow to meet with the pirate."

Prince Leo sighed heavily as he realized he was being the middle man between the two of them to communicate. It annoyed him to the bone. He might have been training with Ashley for a while now but he still disliked the vampire. The two of them were like fire and gasoline the more they both interacted with each other.

The prince still gave Ashley the message for the wolf. It would have been too much to ask the wolf to shift in order to keep himself from talking to Ashley.

When he gave him the order for the wolf, the vampire did not delay in taking care of his master's command. Ashley stood up and jumped from the moving carriage in order to head for the guild. The prince had to stand up and grab the carriage door in order to close it behind the vampire.

While closing the door carefully as the carriage moved the prince muttered under his breath, "That crazy-!"

The wolf watched calmly from where he lay inside the carriage. He found himself getting less and less surprised by how the vampire acted around him.

Will those two ever get along? Vorbuk sighed to himself.
