Chapter 266

Vorbuk arrived at his study. It was more of a room where the king would do his work privately. Besides the king's personal aid no one was allowed inside the room without permission and supervision. The walls were lined with books that were not for outsiders to view carelessly. Personal and private documents were kept in the room in order for the king to go over within privacy.

Once he was outside the door he could see the knights standing guard outside the room. The closer he got to the room the more he could hear the feint sound from within. It was obvious that the Guild Master Seon and the slave merchant Damien were already inside the room awaiting his arrival.

"Master~" Ashley rushed forward as he had been standing outside with the knights for him to arrive. He simply could not allow his master to open the doors on his own when he arrived. It felt beneath the king. As his master's closest servant he wanted nobody to look down on Vorbuk.

Vorbuk felt himself tense up when he saw the polite smile on Ashley's face, "You were waiting?"

"Of course, master~" Ashley replied. "Shall you enter now? They are both waiting for you inside."

"And Daryl?" Vorbuk quickly asked.

Ashley nodded his head as he answered, "He is taking care of the knights in preparation for his departure for Brolan's kingdom in the mountains."

"Yes, he is experienced with the terrain so he should be able to prepare the knights well for it." Vorbuk thought over how Daryl had traveled the twelve kingdoms over the years.

If anyone knows how to prepare the knights it would be Daryl. He had experience in fighting all kinds of beasts and people for his survival. There was also his knowledge on the terrain throughout the continent. Even if Daryl was a low level fighter his skill was with his sword and knowledge to keep himself alive.

"We should not keep them waiting much longer." Vorbuk said as he started to step towards the door.

Ashley opened the door to the room while announcing his arrival, "His majesty, King Vorbuk, has arrived."

The moment Vorbuk's feet stepped through the door Seon and Damien quickly stood from their seats and respectfully bowed to him. "Your Majesty."

"I seem to have kept you waiting." Vorbuk said as he made his way over to the king's chair at his desk and sat down. In front of him were various papers and a feathered pen and ink. It was a complicated way to write but with his natural talent in the arts he had quickly adapted over the months to using the feathered pen.

"It was no trouble, your majesty." Damien replied while hearing the sound of Seon clicking his tongue as if in dissatisfaction with the situation. Everyone couldn't help but glance over in his direction.

"Does something displease you rabbit?" Ashley's sharp tone cut through the silence.

"Watch it fangs or I will-!" Seon started to retort back at Ashley.

"Seon." Vorbuk's call caused everyone to go silent. "I trust you will be able to handle the dwarves when the time comes?"

"Yes," Seon replied honestly, "but may I ask why you are going to bring the dwarves into Theapan? Moving them from the mountain to the kingdom itself will cause a huge ripple among the way people live here."

"That is what I want." Vorbuk was not unaware of the fact that the dwarves had lived in the mountains for generations.

"Hm?" They all silently listened.

"The dwarves have knowledge beyond many races. Things that are built by them have more uses then simply one. They could not only help the knights in weaponry and armor," Vorbuk explained, "dwarves could very well help the growth of the kingdom itself. Not only dwarves but other races as well in the future could become very useful."

"You want Theapan to become open like Cista Kingdom?" Seon asked.

"Do you not think we could all benefit from living together?" Vorbuk asked in return.

"I do not know how well the continent will take such a change." Damien spoke his opinion.

Seon was in silence as he had seen his fair share of war over the years. He could not imagine the continent ever coming to a phase of peace. It was a bloody world where the races did not live openly with one another. Cista Kingdom was the only kingdom that had achieved something peaceful among the races. Could the continent really come to something similar to Cista Kingdom?

"My service is never cheap, your majesty." Guild Master Seon did not care about his personal opinion on the new Theapan King's dreams. There was only one thing standing between him and a job besides his moral opinion over the task and that was if the payment was worth it.

"You damn rabbit-!" Ashley started to swear but silenced instantly as Vorbuk raised his hand to silence him.

"Would you be interested in raising your influence more?" Vorbuk could see the light in Seon's eyes as he became curious over those words.

"You mean-!" Seon started to verify those words.

"We will be dealing with the God Chynir in the future. Naturally that means increases in territory.. I will need someone I can trust dealing with information for me." Vorbuk knew how tempting those words would feel for Seon.

If he could really expand his territory by taking over Brolan as well as other territories it would give Seon a chance to increase his own influence. The guilds in those lands would be up for him to grab hold of. It was beneficial to his own growth and survival during the upcoming war against Chynir.

Seon's bunny ears twitched as he thought deeply about it before responding, "Very well. I will deal with taking care of the dwarves being brought into Theapan."

"There is one more thing I wish to ask you for." Vorbuk added on before stepping over and whispering something into Seon's ear.

"Are you serious?" Seon asked only to see Vorbuk giving him a serious look in silence.

Seon sighed and left the room leaving him and Ashley alone with Damien.

"Your Majesty? Did you have something for me?" Damien asked unsure of what he was needed for. The whole conversation had been aimed mostly towards Seon while they were talking. What reason could there have been for Damien to be here?

"Do you have connections that can get me into Drethia Kingdom?" Vorbuk bluntly asked him now that they were alone.

Damien hesitated before asking, "Do you mean a pirate?"

Pirate? Vorbuk thought to himself before a familiar voice replied to him.

[ Pirates are people known among the kingdom for smuggling people in and out of territories as well as expensive and rare products. ]

[ They are seen as criminals who work in the dark. ]

"Yes, a pirate would be perfect." Vorbuk smirked as he thought a pirate would be perfect for helping him sneak into Drethia. He could not trust the Grand Duke Heket entirely. It was time to start planning out his next move for Drethia Kingdom. The threat that kingdom held against them was not a little one. With a king that was already ranked as a demi god he would need to sneak into the palace carefully without getting caught.
