Chapter 178

Vorbuk could see the look in Aoki's eyes. It was like the man had gone insane. His eyes were filled with a sense of distress, desperation, joy, and a bit of pain.

Pain.

Aoki was in a state of chaos internally and could not control himself which only caused a sense of pain to what mental stability he had left buried beneath the surface. The fact that he could not control himself from acting on pure instinct to kill everything in his way made him a living disaster. Aoki was already someone Ashley could not kill on his own. If they were not careful around him they would quickly lose their lives without knowing how they even died.

"Oh?" Aoki was surprised to see another vampire wandering around with the food that so willingly came to him on its own.

"Locate the king!" Vorbuk shouted at the prince from within the shadows.

Prince Leo understood what Vorbuk wanted. Wasting time with Aoki would only become more dangerous as time went on. The vampire would eventually be able to exhaust them completely the longer they lingered around him.

"We need to locate the king of Theapan as soon as possible. If we spend too much time dealing with him we will be the ones at a disadvantage." Prince Leo told Ashley.

"Yes!" Ashley did not object to the instruction.

"We need to find a way to separate from him." Prince Leo muttered as he wielded his sword.

After sending his fire mana into the blade of the sword Leo concentrated on the vampire. Black shadows being sent forth from the wolf into the fire on his blade. The black flames were like a phantom flame. Ever since Vorbuk's growth the flames when he aided the prince had become denser and more dangerous. As if the shadows were enforcing the flames. His shadows were dominating the fire the prince used on his blade.

This man is dangerous. Ashley thought to himself as he observed Aoki.

Giving a glance momentarily in Vorbuk's direction he remembered his masters decision to capture the vampire hostage later. Gnashing his teeth together he bit down his desire to shred Aoki apart. It was too early for him to complain about his master's opinion. He understood why his master would want Aoki. The man was from the royal palace and held a high position among the kingdom of Drethia. He would be a useful tool in the future causing Ashley to bury his selfish desire for the time being. There is still time for him to observe.

"Watch out-!" Ashley quickly moved.

CLANG!

Ashley's scythe collided with the executioner's dagger. The force behind Aoki's attack was so strong that Ashley could feel his scythe vibrate in his hand. It caused a slight ache in his hand. That feeling quickly faded as he saw a dark light swinging through the air below their weapons.

Whooooshhhh!

Prince Leo swung his blade towards Aoki. Ducking low so that his attack would aim towards him from below the collided weapons the vampires were fighting with.

Unable to keep up with Aoki's movements Ashley was still able to see his movements vaguely. Witnessing as Aoki moved back out of the way of the prince's blade. Holding his dagger firm in his hand. The vampire re-positioned his stance and moved forward again with more tenacity.

"The precious little prey has some fight in it." Aoki laughed out loud.

"Shut up!" Ashley's eyes flashed with rage at the fact that Aoki was looking at Vorbuk as mere food. "Do not compare master to something like prey!"

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

Ashley and Aoki's weapons collided repeatedly as a ferocious pace that prince Leo could not follow. Due to Vorbuk being ranked higher then the prince he could just barely keep focus on what was happening.

"Master? Who? The blond guy?" Aoki clicked his tongue at the thought.

"Hell no! Not that punk!" Ashley denied instantly as if disgusted at thought.

Why do I feel wronged here? Prince Leo thought to himself as his expression dulled. He could not remove the sense of being insult that he got from Ashley's over reaction to the executioner's question. His eye twitched.

"Let's cut the ground with your sword. Use the flames to minimize his movements!" Vorbuk said to the prince.

Snapping back to the current situation Leo held his sword firmly in hand. Swinging it forward with a strong force. The flame began being pushed outward from the sword. It happened so fast that nobody had time to react to his move. Dark flames began to swallow up the ground in a straight line.

Black flames spread out across the ground making the vampire's range of movement smaller. As he realized his range had shrunk the executioner became more annoyed with them. Fire was something that vampires detested. Ashley was not as worried because he could use his scythe to take advantage of flames. But he as well could not personally get too close to flames. It was something that all vampires disliked dealing with because it was dangerous for them.

Twirling his scythe around in the air Ashley shifted and stood with the blackened flames behind him. Taking advantage of the flames of the black flames. His weapon spun in his hands like a baton. The black flames slowly engulfed around the blade of his scythe. Igniting it as his blood weapon darkened in color from the flames.

Ashley looked like an elegant demon lord amidst the battlefield and flames. The look in his eyes was colder then Vorbuk had ever seen his servant get. Ashley was losing his patience to deal with Aoki. He was becoming agitated. His own fangs could be seen as he held a look of scorn directed at the enemy.

"Ashley!" Prince Leo and Vorbuk shouted in unison. Vorbuk knew that Ashley could not hear his voice call out to him but he did so on reflex due to the expression on Ashley's face.

"Fufufufu!" Aoki found his anger to be exciting. In his current state the struggle that they put up was becoming more enjoyable for him. "What fun! What excitement!"

"Master, you and the prince go on ahead. I will delay him and catch up." Ashley's words made the prince hesitate.

"Get master out of here! Now!" Ashley shouted once more at the prince.

"Trust him. That's why we came out together with him. He should at least be able to escape if he is on his own." Vorbuk reassured the prince.

"Alright!" Prince Leo shouted with a bit of frustration at the thought of leaving Ashley behind to move forward first. Though the more he considered it the more he knew they were right. He was not like the vampires who had such fast speed.

Turning to run Prince Leo dashed behind the wall of flames that he and Vorbuk had put across the battlefield. Entering the trees as they headed away from the temple to locate the king of Theapan.

Seeing his prey on the run the executioner dove forward to chase after them.

CLANG!

His dagger blocked an incoming attack from Ashley's scythe. Both of them glaring at each other. Ashley eye's were filled with scorn for the executioner still. In Aoki's eyes he could only see the desire to devour those two whole if he could only get his hands on them.
