CHAPTER 22
At the next land,some girls from the castle where there already.
They were inside a building, that the monsters there had made,cleaning it up for Reed,since he was coming.
Lucy was among them.
She was glad that she followed them,so that she could be close to Reed.
"At least Deborah won't be here", she laughed, sweeping dirts outside.
She was gathering all the dirty together, when the beast,which Reed rode,dash and passed her.
Enthusiast,she stood to watch him come down,so that she'll rush to him,like a good girl,to act as if she wants to help me.
The beast stopped close to a tree,and that's when Lucy began to run towards the beast.
She hasn't even reached the beast,when her eyes became widened on seeing Deborah with Reed.
Deborah looked rough.
Her hair was scattered, covering her face,making her look like a monster.
She turned to look at Reed,who bursted into laughter all of a sudden.
She was angry," Keep on laughing ",she said out in anger.
He got down from the beast and turned to help Deborah down.But she was still sitting on the beast,looking angry.
" Are you planning on spending your life there?".
"Yes!,that's what I'll do", she folds her arms,and turns her face away.
" Don't be stubborn. Get down "," No",she refused again.
She was acting stubborn in front of him,because of what he did.
Seeing that she wasn't answering him,he decided to get her down, in a different way.
He faced the beast, who was scratching it's face on the tree.Slapped the beast had on the back,causing the beast to roar out loud in pain.
Fear gripped Deborah when it shouted.
The beast thought it was her,and he flinged her off his back.
She screamed and almost landed on the ground.
But luckily for her,Reed quickly caught her.
Her heart was beating so fast,because of the beast.
She wondered what made it so angry all of a sudden.
Then she got her answer,when she looked at Reed,who winked at her and said,"Kicked out already?.You haven't even started building ".
" You..!",she frowned at him,and released herself from his arms.
"What kind of a friend are you?", she asked, trying to arrange her hair well.
Reed then said,helping her out," The deadly one I guess",he smiles.
Deborah moved away from him,still looking angry.
Reed sighed and said,"Sorry".
Immediately he said that,Deborah paused.
She took a glance at him,then faced the other way,with a blush.
She arranged her hair well,pretending to be upset,and turns to leave.
Quickly, Reed held her hand back and said,"Sorry".
Deborah, who was facing the other side,wanted to laugh.
She composed herself well, and turns to look at him,"Its good that you're sorry for your mistake",she said.
Reed then said, "What mistake?".
" What do you mean by that?",she looked confused a little.
He scoffs and says,"Do you think am sorry about what happened to you?,No!!.Am only sorry because I didn't get the chance to see your scared face.It always makes me happy".
Deborah's mouth dropped open.
She became angry again.Reed chuckled and walked pass her.Only for him to see Lucy,standing and looking.
She was furious.
Seeing the two of them,playing like that,made her so mad.
Reed walked towards her,looking surprised, "You're here?".
Lucy smiled and said," Is it now a crime to be here?",she blinks at him.
Reed turns his face away,and walks into the building.
Lucy was happy that he spoke to her, but angry that he brought Deborah along.
"They were even riding the same beast,and talking like they were friends".
She looks at Deborah, who stood close to the beast,waiting for her friends and thought to herself," If I don't do something about Deborah, she'll take Reed away from me.Maybe when I get back,I'll find a way to speak to mum.She'll help me ".
She enters back into the building.
Later,the remaining beasts came in.
The Prince's own was the first to come in.
He stopped close to Deborah and came down. He helped Esther down too,and she rushed to meet Deborah.
" Wow!,it was fun. I've never experienced such a ride before.But how did you get here so quickly?, i didn't even see you and Reed again,what happened? ",Esther asked.
Deborah smiled and said," It's nothing. Let's just say that we got here in speed".
"Oh!!,I see", she exclaimed.
The prince then asked Deborah, as he walked up to her," So...where's blue eyes?,did he run away,knowing that am coming?".
Esther then said,"I don't know why you and Reed always quarrel,right D?","Right!",Deborah agreed.
Esther then laughed and said,"But I won't forget last nights battle,it was hilarious ".
She kept on laughing.
Deborah was happy to be in the next land.
It's been long that she visited Granny,and seeing her today would be good.
She excused herself and decided to go and meet her.
On the move,Deborah walked down the lonely path,which she took the last time she visited.
The path was leading to next land,where all the people where.Not where Reed stopped, that was outside.
" Granny would be so happy to see me.I know she'll ask me so many questions, like,Reed is back, who freed him? or,I hope my friends won't take him away from me?,you know am still a young girl".
She joked and laughed on the way,excited to meet Granny.
She finally got into the land fully,but was left dumbstruck on what she saw,DISASTER.
The place was in a mess.
It looked like a place meant for prisoners and not people.
Deborah was shocked, everything was destroyed.
She spotted some people,working at a corner. Some where carrying blocks,mixing things and so on,so many work.
She walked forward, still looking round,wondering if she was dreaming or seeing things.
"This can't be true.What happened to all this people?".
Her mind went to Reed,and she had a feeling that he was behind it,but she couldn't accept it.
" Can it be..?,No!,he has been staying in the land of peace,but he hasn't harmed anyone like this before.It must be the monsters here that are doing it".
She began to hear voices of children crying sorrowfully.
It touched her,as she turned to her left side,and saw a monster,beating them up.
"Pack those sands properly, Naughty children", the monster ordered them,still beating them,injuring the poor children.
Out of annoyance, Deborah rushed to the monster, pulled her sword out and dragged his leg.
The monster fell down hard,and wondered who dared to fall him.
He looked up and saw Deborah, she was angry.
" Who are you?,how dare you step into this land without permission? ".
Deborah didn't respond back. She only walked up to the children and wiped their tears for them," It's OK,am here ".
The monster got up,looking angry.
He pulled a huge mallet out and said," You'll pay for your deeds girl".
With force,he almost smashed Deborah flat,if not that she moved back with the children quickly.
Angry,she charged at the monster and began to fight with him.
The noise of mallet clashing with a sword could be heard by the people,as they came out from their small shed,that looked Like a cell.
They saw her fighting the monster,and putting him in his place in no time.
The monster fell to the ground,and she made sure he ate the dust.
"Don't you ever trouble those children again,or I'll be your worst nightmare", she warned,stepping away from the beast and putting her sword back.
The people were happy for her bravery and cheered her.
She turned to their direction,and spotted Granny, standing in the midst of the people cheering.
" Granny! ",she called out emotionally, and rushed to meet her.
Granny embraced her with open arms,as she laughed happily," My child?!,how are you?".
Deborah replied,still embracing her,"Am fine.What about you?",she asked,pulling herself away, to see granny well.
Granny was putting on a torn clothes, that looked old.
Deborah was sad,as she wondered what was going on.
"Granny did those monster do this to you?", she asked,looking into Granny's sorrowful eyes.
She couldn't reply her back.
Deborah could understand, as she nodded and said,promising her," Don't you worry,am here now.I'll make sure all this monsters are dealt with".
Granny became happy on hearing that,even the people. But granny began to wonder how she was going to do it,"How my child? ".
Deborah smiled and said," Easy!,I'll go and meet Reed,and tell him what's going on here".
Immediately she mentioned his name,everyone became scared,and murmured amongst themselves.
Deborah noticed it.She saw Granny's expression, and thought maybe granny didn't believe.
"It's the truth. Reed will surely help.He isn't as bad as you think he is.Infact,he has been helping everyone at my land.Am sure he...".
"... Reed is the reason why we're all in this situation now", someone said,interrupting her.
" What?",Deborah said,looking at all of them.
She looked at granny,who nodded and said,"Yes my dear.Reed did this to us.He's taking his revenge on our land".
"Are you sure Granny?", she asked,unable to believe.
Granny looked into Deborah's eyes and said,holding her hands," Just because he helped your people in one thing or the other,doesn't mean he's not planning something bad for them.He hates your land the most,so he must be planning something terrible for them ".
Deborah was shocked.
Could Reed have done this?
But he has changed.
He helped them to cure the poison planted by that snake.It can't be.
Those were the thoughts,running through Deborah's mind now.
