Chapter 111

"They're late." Parker glanced around the crowded room inside the Rec Center, his heart pounding.

Sending Ella to confront Maddie was bound to go one of two ways. Either Ella would work her charming sweet magic on Maddie and win her over, or his plan would backfire and Maddie would distance herself more. After tearing him a new one.

"Women are always late." Jason, wearing his firefighter turnout gear, took a pull from his long neck bottle. "Take it as a good sign. If my girl hadn't succeeded in your mission, she'd be here by now."

True. Maybe.

Last time Parker had been this nervous was in high school. Again, Maddie being the culprit. Entirely different reason this go-around, though. He'd made some progress in regards to her. He really hoped his pushing wouldn't set them back. Having Ella in her life would do so much good for Maddie, and vice versa.
