Chapter 105

- For your age, that kind of strength and speed is amazing," he praised Ryo, "You could be a genin right now, considering your iryo-nin license.

- Thanks, I worked my ass off to get this result," he smirked back.

- Let's see what else you have to show for it," Kei nodded and rushed into the attack, hardly holding back.

For about a couple of minutes, the opponents exchanged blows without hitting the target, until the larger shinobi caught the moment, and using his physical advantage and height, made a slash and punched with his left straight into his stomach, throwing Nara back a dozen steps. Only after a couple of moments did he realize that such a blow could kill not only a child, but also an unprepared adult.

- Oh, fuck!

But no sooner was Kei startled than Ryo, who had flown away, moved and with some difficulty got to his feet and put his green-glowing palm on the spot where the blow had struck. A few moments later, he stood up as if nothing had happened, and rushed in to attack. As he fought off some fairly skillful combinations of blows, albeit somewhat simplistic, Shibatori noted absently that this was going to be a long D-rang mission, one that would take a lot of work not only from his students, but from himself as well.

Three hours later, the five were resting on the ground, breathing heavily and all covered in bruises and abrasions that were beginning to show. Four of them were covered, because the fifth had simply healed all his injuries, to the envy of the others.

Tired somewhat less than his team, the tokubetsu jonin shook his head, marveling at Nara's stamina - even for a pure-blooded Uzumaki, it was too much. Given the Iryo-nin's profession, the boy would be an unkillable machine on the battlefield in five years.

He would need two or three more years of practice to perfect his style, and no one would vouch for the outcome of their next fight.

Of course, the title of special jounin was not given for the pretty eyes, but the ten-year-old's potential was amazing, as was his willpower. To get up after every beating, heal, and then rush back into battle, not everyone could.

- So, Genin, you can consider this mission a training session," the teacher said, getting up from the ground and shaking himself off.

He was answered by the long groans of the trio, who couldn't even move. After two hours of sparring with the teacher, it was their turn.

The Genin had to use teamwork to try and somehow get the much stronger and faster opponent. Except they were getting hit back a lot harder than they had the first time around.

- Don't moan at me, or I'll have you practicing until lunchtime! - Shibatori frowned, and under his gaze the team rose to their feet.

- Not a bad workout," Ryo nodded in satisfaction, "I hope you'll take my mission next time, I usually order them once every week or week and a half.

He was answered by the horrified looks of the Genin and the laughter of their teacher.

- You bet, kid," Kei nodded, smiling, "maybe I'll drop in on you without a mission-it's not often I've had to work so hard in training. Especially in the last few days.

- I don't mind," Nara nodded, "give me your scroll.

Burning a mark on the scroll with his chakra, which surprised the tokubetsu jonin, he said goodbye to the team and headed deep into the clan quarter.

Shaking his head, Kai signaled his students to follow him and headed out of the clan's training grounds towards the gate. So far, this was D-rang's best mission yet and he would do his best to make sure that the next one like it went to him.

I sat down at the table in my room and unfolded an old, tattered and torn scroll, studying it carefully. It was in almost the same place as the seal I was looking for, but it looked much more damaged.

Whether it was just the way it was, or whether it had been stored under unfavorable conditions, I was glad that the contents were clearly visible. Because the scroll contained a very familiar, at least to me, title: Shikon no Jutsu. It was the one Kabuto had used when he'd tried to get close to Sasuke in the hospital.

Judging by the barely recognizable markings in some of the fields, this technique was created by Tobirama Senju and served as a prototype for Edo Tensei, at least in the initial theory of moving a chakra particle into a dead body and giving it a semblance of life.

Most interestingly, Akatsuki used something very similar - Shoten no Jutsu - only at a higher level. Most likely, Orochimaru had given them the necessary information for the technique during his membership in the organization, or had already had a hand in perfecting it himself.

At any rate, the fact that I carried the scroll unrecorded in one of the seals plays into my hands. Maybe it's the only copy in the public domain and Orochy will have to chip in for another bit of knowledge. Either way, this kind of jutsu will come in handy for me in the future.
