Chapter 11: Track (2)

The two left the building carrying a box and and a case of tools and equipment. It was already dusk and the sun is half way behind the horizon, making the sky bleed.

They get to the car and put their things on the trunk and without further ado they rode the car and left.

Marissa' s apartment was a one of the buildings in community around the university, a car can reach one point of destination in thirty minutes.

The sky is already dark when they get there. But the doctor was flabbergasted to what he saw.

" Where you the only tenant of this building?"

asked him .

" No? I saw a couple ones when I left for school but that's about it"

Marissa look at him and answered.

" There are no lights on any window , means that there's no one inside them , it's only about 7 PM so there no way they are all asleep."

The building was a standard two story apartment complex with three rooms on each floor. There are a window each facing the front entrance and as doctor said there are no lights behind them.

The building is all dark an eery and a cold wind blows from it.

" I-I have never notice it , I just assume on time that the tenants were office worker or call center agents like those show on TV, but now -, no wonder I didn't saw any one even for months of living here."

" Hm"

The two slowly walk inside the premised and climb up the stair slowly , the emptiness of the place made their every move echoed around. They felt uncomfortable as they felt malice on the ambiance around them. They move more slowly than usual involuntarily.

No one talk between them and the unusual silence made them more vigilant.

They reach the door of the apartment. Marissa pulled out her key and opened the door slowly,

*ekkkkkkkk*

the sound of the door were more sinister to hear than a usual creaking. She tried to feel the switch and turn on the lights, when it was turned on they step inside.

* Slam*

As they both have step inside , the door slam form behind them. This made them look back in shock , they calm their heart and face forward again to continue but as they face front what welcome them was more horror as they saw kitchen knives were flying at them.
