Black Widow Brotherhood Raid (2)

In this chaotic night battlefied, Arthur shot his sixth arrow before locking down someone.

[You have successfully killed [Level 7 Acolyte - Crimson Karl]. You have received 180 EXP]

Arthur smiled inwardly. He was familiar with most of the names that popped in his mind. After all, after living three years in a tower of three hundred inhabitants, it was not a very difficult task to remember names.

Crimson Karl was an infamous tyrant, who possessed high achievements. He was roughly thirty years old, and he had used his clan to make trouble for William twice in the Alchemy Laboratory. The strong bullied the weak.

Crimson Karl had mastered three spells, including one defensive high-grade blood-type spell. Unfortunately, the man hadn't had the time to finish casting his spell, and an arrow pierced his lungs. It only took several seconds for the ice elemental particles to freeze his veins. Once the poison had reached his heart, death was inevitable.

[Ice Poison Aura - Enchant-type High Grade Rank 0 Spell

Effect: Enchant a weapon with Ice Poison, elemental ice particles that spread through the victim's blood. It deals 15 points of damage over ten seconds, for up to thirty seconds. Afterwards, the damage dealt is halved for the next thirty seconds and so on. Inflict the [Frozen] Ailment on the victim, reducing his physical agility by 60%]

Unless the acolyte possessed magical resistance, an antidote, or more than 5 points of vitality, surviving a shot enchanted with Ice Poison Aura is impossible.

Arthur gave up on supporting Allan and Bjorg, who seemed to be doing fine in spite of the many acolytes rushing towards them. There were no more than thirty acolytes in the human settlement anyway. There were roughly a hundred soldiers too, but they were not at a level where they could threaten battle-hardened acolytes.

Arthur smiled as he rushed forward.

[Rick Crimson - Level 10 Acolyte]

Rick Crimson, one of five intermediate-rank acolyte of the Crimson Clan. Well, considering that one recently died in the orc battlefield, he was one of the four strongest individual in the Crimson Clan. His status were incredibly high, as he occupied the [Seat of Justice], meaning that he had the power to judge people in the Crimson Magus Household. This role was incredibly lucrative, for people gave him bribes in exchange for leniency.

The man was already well over fifty years old, and he could be considered an elderly. However, in the path of magic, the higher your age, the better your skills. It was much different to the knighthood path where your physique would start declining at a certain age.

Arthur knew that arrows would not work against Rick. The man was wearing a defensive magical artefact, a ring that protected him from arrows. It was like an electromagnetic field, preventing normal metal from reaching him. Spells too, were weakened, although not to the extent where they would be stopped altogether.

Any magical artefact could increase an acolyte's battle prowess by leaps and bounds. Arthur didn't hesitate as he moved forward, activating his [Moonlight Ring], which increased his strength attribute by 50%. Instantly, he could feel his veins enlarging, allowing a higher blood supply to his muscles.

He was feeling incredibly powerful, more than he ever was. This burst of power allowed him to reach more than 16 points of strength, which was on par with giant magical beasts. Unsheathing his medium-grade enchanted sword [Celeste], Arthur charged forward and unleashed his strongest knight killing technique: [Heavy Vertical Strike]

Rick Crimson saw Arthur coming, but he lacked a mobility skill. As for his agility, it was at a staggering one point, four times less than Arthur.

[Fire Shield]

It was defensive skill that created a shield of Earth and Fire. Most knights would not be able to get through it, and they would even get burned in the process, making it one of the most efficient defensive spell in the Ivory Tower Library against body refinement acolytes and melee monsters.

However, Arthur could not be considered normal. His strength had long since surpassed the limits of mankind. His magic power was extremely potent, and after casting [Ice Poison Aura] on his sword, it possessed a lethality that was never seen before.

Up until now, he had only used this combination of skills twice. The first time was for the Old Witch, against a body refinement acolyte from the Arcane Faction. The Second Time, it was an independant intermediate rank acolyte guiding and protecting a team of Arcane Faction craftsmen.

[You have dealt 48 points of damage]

[You have broken through the spell [Fire Shield], which absorbed 30 points of damage]

[You have broken through the [Magnetic Ring] field, which absorbed 10 points of damage]

[You have received burn injury]

[You have lost 1 HP]

[You have inflicted [Ice Poison Aura] on the opponent]

'What terrifying layers of defense...Even advanced acolytes would find it difficult to break through it...'

However, Arthur was not finished, as he unleashed a [Power Thrust].

Rick could not believe it. His two layers of defence had kept him alive in dozens of battlefield. Even as a beginner rank acolyte, he had survived the barrage of missiles from two intermediate rank acolytes before.

Yet, Arthur broke through it in one single strike.

As the blade of the enchanted weapon reached his heart, his eyes revealed pure shock. He still hadn't processed his defeat.

Arthur smiled as he received the notification:

[You have killed [Level 10 Acolyte - Rick Crimson]. You have received 380 EXP]

[You have cast [Soul Seal] on [Rick Crimson Corpse]. Successful chant]

[Flask has become [Cursed Soul Flask - High Grade Magical Resource]]

'Only two more to go...', Arthur thought
