Katsura Masaru, a high school freshman who doesn't attend school, meets a god one day in a pure white space. He is informed that his entire class, 1-A, will be summoned to another world as heroes. "…But I'm a recluse." It seems that even Masaru, who was at home, got caught up in the transfer to another world. For a shut-in like Masaru, a world of swords and magic is excessively hard mode. The gift he received was called "Home." It granted him the ability to access a mysterious space that resembled his home but wasn't actually his home. However, Masaru realized the usefulness of this "Home", and proceeds to abuse the shit out of it.
The slightly worn-out door disappeared silently as I passed through it. Looking back, there was nothing there. So this is what happens when I leave my house…
Incidentally, I could summon my house again without any problem. Seeing my house standing in the middle of a grassland was quite surreal.
When I checked my status, I found that summoning my house required 20 MP.
There was no limit to the number of times I could do it, so I planned to retreat into my house whenever things got tough or if I was on the verge of death.
In fact, I might as well use my house to recuperate whenever something unpleasant happened. Being suddenly transported to another world, it was probably best to be overly cautious.
My current outfit was likely very out of place in this world. Trying to look somewhat appropriate, I wore a plain white shirt and faded, distressed jeans.
I had borrowed my dad's Inverness coat, thinking it might be cold, but it was actually quite warm since it was spring. It seemed silly to waste 20 MP just to put the coat away, so I decided to endure it.
On my feet were the sneakers I used to wear to school. They were lightweight and breathable, making walking effortless. I had regularly applied waterproof spray to them, so they were still mostly clean.
"Wow… so much green…"
The sight before me was so overwhelming that I could only manage a simple comment. I felt the solid ground beneath my feet, heard the rustling of grass in the wind, and the distant calls of birds.
There was a strange, green smell in the air, mixed with an earthy scent like after a rain.
It was a natural setting that I would never see living in Japan. Being surrounded by nature made me realize just how small I was.
Though I couldn't just easily shake off the habit of being a recluse, feeling like an idiot for shutting myself in over trivial matters, I felt my heart lighten a bit.
"It's so vast… just green as far as the eye can see… definitely another world…"
Muttering to myself had clearly increased from being cooped up in my house even in another world, I began observing my surroundings.
The grassland I had come to seemed quite expansive, with no end in sight to the left or right.
Wait a minute… Did my eyesight get better? I could focus on distant objects incredibly easily.
Squinting, I could see the veins on leaves far away. My eyesight, which had barely kept me from needing glasses, seemed astonishingly sharp now. Probably not just 1.0, but more like 2.0 or 3.0.
There were other changes in my body too. Moving lightly, I found my movements were much sharper than I remembered.
"After a month of being a recluse, my agility is definitely better than I expected."
It seemed my body had become something special upon coming to this world.
While I probably couldn't break rocks with my fists, I felt like I could run 50 meters in under six seconds.
Maybe it was thanks to the god who restructured my body. Thank you very much, god.
As I lightly prayed to the sky, I thought I saw an illusion of the god giving me a thumbs-up.
"OINK OINK OINK!"
"What the—?!"
Just as I was finishing my prayer and about to eat the snack I had brought, a loud noise startled me. I instinctively ducked, looking for the source of the sound.
…I had completely forgotten in my awe of this world that it was a place inhabited by monsters. The danger here was on a whole different level compared to modern Japan.
I was only level 1. If this world followed a "you're only an adult at level 100, level 1 is for kids!" kind of rule, I could be in serious trouble right from the start.
Raising my head slightly to get a view, I gulped at what I saw.
"Snort…"
In the distance was a bizarre creature that looked like a giant pig's head attached to a heavily muscled human body.
That was a monster.
With my enhanced hearing, I could even hear its breathing clearly.
It looked exactly like an orc from fantasy novels.
So, my first encounter is not with humans, but with a monster…
I knew I could retreat to my house if necessary, but my body was tense with fear. My palms were sweating profusely.
Should I run or fight?
I had to choose carefully…
