Alaric lived with us for the next year. After that I moved with him back to the Vampire Kingdom. Where I spent three years learning about my new race. I officially gain the rank of Lady last year. I was a Baroness. Granted that was the lowest rank one could have as a Lord or Lady for the Vampires but at my age it was something of note. Especially since I was still labeled as a Lower Vampire.
My Dads and Brothers visited me from time to time. For the most part I was alone. Although I had Ruby. My talk with Mor had told me how to hatch my egg and how it worked. I had gone to a beast Dungeon with a feline boss. My egg naturally had some kind of cat hybrid inside that would be influenced by my magic. Magic I had to feed my egg with daily, until it hatched.
A griffin. She was a lower griffin, without wings but I loved her none the less. There was a chance she would gain wings once she got older but it was unlikely.
I looked at my current quests as I ran a hand down her back. Alaric would be mad if he found out I had snuck her into the house again.

"Back to the Stables," I told Ruby. She rose and stretched. Then she jumped out the window. I needed to find Alaric. I was confined to the grounds without his say so. It was starting to piss me off. The way I was treated here. By the staff, guards, and visitors. I was Alaric's pet Beloved. Nothing more. My title meant nothing. I was a Lower Vampire with an Origin Vampire Beloved. I stepped out of my room. As always the hallway was a ghost town. Not a single soul in sight.
I sighed and started walking. I had grown out my hair. Not by much but enough to braid when I felt like it. It fell to my mid back now. I had grown it out for my Debut into Vampire society. Based on what I had seen and heard having my hair like this would make me stand out less.
Alaric was feeding when I entered his office. The man he was feeding on yelled when he saw me. Which of course made Alaric turn. "Calm down Kennedy. This is my Beloved Aurora. No one else would dare enter without my consent," he glared at me as he said it. I rolled my eyes at his accusing tone.
"I need another donor," I told him. His eyes flashed with fear, "I have already fed from Marry, Susan, and Oliver yesterday. Henry already fed me today. I need more donors. And I want to see the temple of Nefer."
Alaric had 'convinced' me last year to start taking donors. What he didn't know was I had done it for the quest. "Excuse us Kennedy," Alaric said, standing up. Kennedy bowed to Alaric but only nodded at me as he left. Alaric acted like such a hard ass in front of most people. He sighed when the door closed and waited as the sound of foot steps trailed away. I approached the couch and sat. "You need more than one."
I sighed and leaned my head back against the couch. I glanced at our Affection. High- 80%. It had improved a lot over the years but had gone stagnant over the last two. It was late into my twelfth year that I had started taking an interest in having a partner. A Consort. It had shifted my attention from Alaric to everyone else in the manor.
Unlike Dads who had a modest home, Alaric had a manor. It was befitting his status and supported a few dozen families. Most of whom were Human. Private tutors saw to teaching me everything I would need to know. Dancing, Math, the poise expected for the Beloved of a Viscount. That was when things had started to change.
"I don't know. Humans don't recover as fast and I refuse to feed off othe Vampires."
Alaric started to pace. "You are starving!" I clenched my jaw at his words. He was right. It was listed under my conditions. "You need more blood and Humans aren't enough."
"Just one more Alaric. We can figure something else out after my Debut. But we can't keep putting it off. I need to visit the Temple of the Vampire God. He is the God of our Race. He may be my Patrion."
"He's not!" Alaric yelled. His eyes glared at me. This was an old argument. This is what had changed things.
"Are you going with me or not?" I asked him. We stood there glaring at eachother.
Finally he relented. "The Spring Debut is in 3 days. Let's go." We moved quickly on our mounts. Nefer's Temple was Red as blood. It was covered in blood I could smell it and it made my fangs drop down. It was a tall pyramid. We had to walk up the steps to the top. Once there we had to walk within. Fire lined the sides.
Nefer... he was one of the five large gods. Inside Pures greeted us. Males and females. One stepped forward. He stared at me. "We have been for you, Beloved One. Come Nefer awaits."
"Wait here," I told Alaric as I followed. The statue of Nefer stood tall. That wolf at his feet. A bowl of blood waited there.
"This way," the Pure called out to me. I moved to follow him through the doorway. Inside was a wolf statue. It had fangs like a Saber tooth tiger. I placed my hand on it.
Nefer smiled at me, "You kept me waiting."
I scoffed at that. "My 'Beloved' kept you waiting."
He laughed and leaned his head against his fist. "You are upset with him."
"His people treat me like a pet! He treats me like a pet. He complains when I disobey him or when I voice my opinions. I thought you said women were treated better here! Yet, the male that you all have tied me to for the rest of my unnatural life only tells me no now!"
"You are weak and the boy is afraid."
"The boy is over a thousand years old," I pointed out.
Nefer laughed. "A boy nonetheless. You are both frustrated with eachother. It is to be expected. Although you do have the choice. You could always find yourself a different Beloved." He shrugged. "Now then I have a blessing to give you. Also pick one of my Pures. They will make a good blood donor for you. Pick a few for all I care."
"How do we get along?" I asked.
"You must come to understand him if you are to get along. You are a child to him. You are weak and refuse to hear him out."
"I hear him just fine!" I snapped. "He does not listen!"
Nefer slammed his hand down on his throne. "Quiet!" I srunk in on myself. He sighed, "Children are always so hard to deal with. You will be a child for years to come. Your body is still that of a child. Give it time. The two of you will get back to where you were. Go check you Blessing. Look among my Pures." I blinked and I was back in the room with the statue. "I will go gather all the Pures," I heard the man who had brought me here say.
-Blessed By Nefer, Blessed By XXXXX
-Title: Mistress of Blood
>Blessing:
- Blood of War: You growth is increased. Blood from warriors (Knights, Paladins, Etc) will grant a higher increase to stats. They will also have respect for you as one who carries a War Gods Blessing.
- Kissed by Blood: Nefer's Pures offer themselves to you with the blessing of their God. You are seen as a small extension of him.
-Patrion God: Unknown, Nefer
Alaric was not going to like this. Maybe I could keep most of it secret. I nodded to myself. That would be for the best. There was still a good bit about my blessings and skills that went unknown to him.
With that thought in mind I left the room. Dozens of people kneeled at the feet of Nefer's statue. His Pures. All bare chested. All male. Many showed scars. They wore tight dark red pants. I had to admit they appealed to me. Alaric was watching clearly confused as I moved through the rows of men. It was in the second row that I stopped. Amber eyes watched me. I found myself reaching out to trace along the scar on his forehead.
"Does it hurt?" I asked him.
"Not anymore," he said. His voice was soothing to my ears. Almost jovial. "It is an old wound." The mark had come from a beast. That much was clear. A canine or feline. Maybe a bear.
"Would you like to come with me?"
His eyes widened at my question. "It would please me greatly Mistress."
"Join my beloved while I look over your brothers." He rose with a smile and did just that. Nefer wished me to lay claim to at least one of his Pures. He had definitely wanted me to take more than that though.
In the fifth row there was a group of males. Three of them. All of them had ink. I didn't know this world had tattoos but these four had them. They watched me as I circled each of them. "Why do you have those markings?" I asked them as I came back to the front.
"We earned them. Like all of Nefer's Pures we are warriors."
"Come along then. Four of you should be enough to satisfy Nefer for now." They rose to follow me back to Alaric. There were a few males who looked disappointed by my decision. Others seemed bored as they went back to their duties.
I looked at Alaric and smiled, "The Gods have answered your prayers and forced my hand." He looked sick to his stomach at my words. I ignored him and made my way out.
