Reborn Online

Raishaun Inkosi was dying to play the hit VRMMORPG, Reborn Online. He eventually plays the game but little does he know the name Reborn means more than what he bargained for... In this game, you don't get to choose your race or class. The system chooses that for you using your genes and brainwaves. Once complete, you are reborn with the race and occupation you were always meant to have. I will be posting this story on Royal Road.

New begginings

After I had explained to my parents who I was they eagerly wanted to see my place so we all went back to the New World, however, you log in where you logged out, so I told them I'd meet them in the forest close to my base. To get to the forest of Pantelan where I was, from Draggoz city where they were would take at least a days worth of travel by foot for someone of my parents level. Thus I had a day to kill before I saw them and that was exactly what I was going to do. I hadn't played for a whole month now the likes of even my parents had higher levels than me.

I needed to level up and to do so, I decided to put my knowledge of this world to use. Method one was a way to temporarily boost your agility. There is a common plant that grows amongst the grass, if the stem is consumed you will gain + Agility for 1 hour. The amount is dependant on the age of the flower. 1 year and down is +1, 5 years to 9 +2 Agility, 10- 100, +3 Agility.

When the average player looks at the Agura flower they will see that it's a common plant and look past it. However, I with a bit of knowledge know that all though it is common, it is useful but not all powerful. The plant acts as a sort of drug, whereby the more you consume, the more you need to consume the next to achieve the same result until eventually it has no effect. Furthermore, although +1 Agility can make a difference in the lower levels it hardly makes any difference at the higher ones.

After I remembered a way to get stronger, I walked up the stairs to the exit of my domain.

[Do you want to exit your domain ]

[Yes/No]

I looked down the torch lit stairs as I wondered if I had complete everything I could inside. Early this morning at 12:05 am I went into the laboratory and did some research on The Ija and the Imp. Once this was done, I could unlock the Ija which was next in line after Imp. As well, as being able to create more Imps and stronger ones.

The system worked in a troop space sort of manner. At the moment, I had 2 troop space [2/2], this meant that I could own two Imps which both cost one troop space. The Ija cost 2 troop space which meant that I had [3/2] and was working in overload. An epic evolution didn't factor in whether you had enough troop space or not, however, when you upgraded your troop space, it would immediately fill up where needed. It also didn't factor whether you had the next demon unlocked or not.

So in total, I was doing research on the Imp. After 11 hours, I would be able to add more AP to each stat then before when creating it. Also, I was unlocking the Ija, so that I could create more Ijas without having to depend on an evolution, this would take 12 hours to complete. Lastly, I was upgrading the troop space from 2 to 10, this would also take 12 hours. It was 10:00 now, therefore I could go level up for 2 hours, then comeback and do what I needed to and head out again. This cost 80 system points in to total.

Seeing that, I had done everything I could, myself and my minions left my domain, [Yes].

Immediately, a square hole opened up, I could see the clear blue skies, above me and the three hanging moons in the sky all in the same phase but different sizes.

As I looked at them, I took a deep breath, they were breath-taking. I had always been a selenophile and now I was feeling the euphoria times by three. Before I didn't appreciate them enough but now that I knew they were real I couldn't help but notice. Especially the closest one to this planet, that this worlds calendar was created from. Currently, it was in the New moon phase and its spender held no bounds.

Once I looked down again, I couldn't help but think that there was something to me beginning my new life on a new moon. However, after a few seconds, I brushed away the thought and began moving deeper into the forest picking up Agura Flowers wherever I saw them.

While I was walking, I looked at the Shadow Imp, " Do you know where the bases of the demons are, I do not want to walk into them, yet?"

"Yes, my lord. We are currently in the middle of them all. If this forest is a rectangle then in the middle is a circle with a diameter of 1km, they call this the neutral zone. 5 kilometres to the south, west, north and east of us is where they are. "

"Well done, you're really proving yourself useful!"

[Loyalty with [Shadow Imp]: Nameless has reached 90. This Imp will die for you if you ask it to.]

I smiled when I saw the notification, it didn't want it to die for me, however, it was nice to know I had a loyal subject.

I then picked up a stick from the ground and looked at my minions, " I hope you are ready because it's about to get rough here! After I'm done with my preparations a bunch of low level creatures are going to swarm us. Don't let me down!"

Immediately, I could see the fire arise in their eyes as they gripped their weapons tightly. Weapons I surmise they stole from enemies they had defeated while I was away. This was good because I only had 21 SP left which wasn't enough to buy weapons for them.

Anyway, using the stick I began scribing sigils into the dirt by injecting my mana into the stick and then into the sigil.

When I was testing the game, I could choose my race, class and level every time I logged in. While sifting through the various options, I found a secret class: [Sigil Master]. It intrigued me so I choose it and made myself level 100 so that I had the various skills of the class unlocked already. One of those skills that I had the mana for was <Draw Aggro>. This was a sigil that acted like a homing beacon to monsters within a 500 meter radius of you. The level of the creatures was dependant on the amount of mana put in.

I knew I could cast it, because I had the ward/sigal affinity. Technically, even if I didn't, I still would have been able to cast it because anything was possible as long as you had the knowledge and AP. However, having an affinity surely made it a whole lot easier.

I continued drawing the sigil as sweat rolled down my face; even with my knowledge and my affinity casting a spell outside my class was challenging. Five minutes in and I was still busy, I had to be very careful with the amount of mana I was infusing, I didn't want to draw in creatures I couldn't handle. Also the shapes and sizes of the symbols had to be near perfect. Since I was doing a spell outside my class, the [System] didn't help me at all. I was using my eidetic memory recalling how everything looked. This was a process that took time, however, one that paid of in the end.

Immediately, the symbols on the ground shone with a blood red colour as they began shifting around. Eventually, it stopped and a faint red glow emerged. Once I saw this, I knew that it was complete.

[Congratulations! You have cast a spell from a class outside of your own for the first time!

[You have levelled up X3]

I saw the rewards a sense of accomplishment arose inside of me, however, I had yet to complete my preparations so I couldn't see my new level... Again, I began drawing in the sand, this time I was preparing a trap. I knew I would level up after scribing that sigil now my mana was full again and I had more than before. Thus I decided to be a more ambitious with this one. It was only a tier 4 skill but required a lot more mana. This skill took three minutes to complete.

I then took my axes from my storage ring and began inscribing on them too. It was a basic <Sigil of Sharpening>. It increased the sharpness of my weapon by 50%; I drew the same sigil on both of my minions weapons.

I looked at my work and was satisfied anything more would be overkill, thus the games could begin. I took the stick and poked on the triangle symbol of the <Draw Aggro> sigil. Immediately, the faint blood glow shone brightly painting the trees in an ominous colour.

A few moments later, I could feel the rumbling of a stampede on the ground. They were coming!
