Chapter 148: History of Totems

" Let me talk in detail, maybe you have heard some of these things. During the mid to late totem age, under the leadership of four Sacred Totem Leaders, the rest of the Totems guarded every species on land like their subjects.

This continued on till humanity awakened magic, after a few decades or so humans rebelled from the Totems and slowly established their own civilizations and magic association, this is true outside China as well, Totemic creatures existed for all ancient civilizations, they were just called different, Titans, Asuras, Djinns, Gods and such.

After the human rebellion a few Totems died and the rest went into seclusion and a few decades after that both faced an extinction level threat and worked together again, this time both were barely left alive.

Most of the Totems died without guardians and their vessels were lost out to time, but some preserved and still continue the old tradition were Totem and humans work together under the guidance of Totem Guardians.

In my opinion this is and could be a great asset to our country if we can bring back a few Totems like the Totem Mysterious Snake or the Totem Snake of short.

I have a few clues to the locations of various Totems, I plan on visiting them some day and would like a Psychic mage with me to effectively communicate with them, so I am kind of trying to recruit you".

" I have heard about these tales about Totems but never with such detail what else do you know about the Totems". Jiang Shaojun persistent interest meant that he agreed in principle to what Cao Guang was pushing forward.

" The Four Sacred Totems all have their own line per se, a few select Totems they blessed or sired, like Totem Snake had a few brothers supposedly all descendant from the Black Tortoise of the North.

Another example is a creature called the Divine Deer, in the records passed to me, it was blessed by the leader of the Sacred Totems, the Azure dragon.

And so, there are many tales about their existence and life that I know, the reason why I insisted on coming here was so to visit this very temple, in the abandoned side of the temple there is a an ancient shrine to a Totem.

That shine contains the vessel of a totem, I plan on retrieving that vessel and finding a new guardian for it, as for why I need your help is that I can't touch that vessel. It is guarded by a Ward, I can only direct you to break it, so how about it shall we?"

The trio snuck out of their rooms and went to the abandoned side of the temple and found the shrine he was looking for.

It was a traditional Japanese shrine constructed purely out of wood but the whole structure had been overrun by vines, creepers and moss.

In the middle was a wooden clapper with sim shades, there were no plants or creatures near the clapper as they avoided the it like fire.

Cao Guang put his arm forward and saw the yellow lightning of the ward come against him.

" See it won't let me touch it".

" What should we do now? The only way to take the clapper even after breaking the seal is probably to gain it's acknowledgement right?"

" Correct, after I guide you to break the Ward, Shaojun should guide Gao Xuan into the inner world of the wooden clapper believe me it has one, from there on it is up to you" said Cao Guang looking at Gao Xuan.

" Me but what do I do to gain it's approval?"

" It could be anything in my opinion, strength of the soul, you are an Advanced mage with an Advanced level soul or elemental affinity, you have Earth, Light and Water elements maybe that's what it's need or maybe your character, like I said it is upto you, but my guess is probably character and Elemental affinity".

Cao Guang's merely confused Gao Xuan or inflated his confidence as he stepped up and dealt with the Ward under Cao Guang's guidance.

" This is it huh?"

Jiang Shaojun had already briefed the guy about what to do, since Gao Xuan wasn't the owner he couldn't enter it's Inner world but since it was also ownerless there was a loophole, if not it would remain so untill the end of time.

The method was to meditate and enter it as the same way one would enter the Summoning plane only with the help of a capable Psychic mage was this possible.
