Chapter 4:- Journey to the leaf
That day, after lunch, I put mom to sleep. Since she can't move her body anyway it'll be easier for both of us if I carry her while she's asleep. Afterwards, I wrote a small letter for Konan to let her know that we were heading to the leaf village because Konan was the only person in this village that would even bother checking up on mom. After that, I prepared enough food for the journey and stored it inside a scroll using a simple sealing jutsu to keep it fresh. And later that afternoon, we set out for the leaf village. And surprisingly enough, the constant heavy rain that the hidden rain is known for had stopped that afternoon, making it easier for me to carry mom while she was asleep. Although I was surprised to see Pain not interfere our departure given his way of ruling. "I guess he doesn't consider me enough of a security risk to stop me. Not to mention we live outside the damn village because of the villagers treating us like shit! I guess I'll keep his abilities a secret as well. Jiraiya's death will be necessary for Naruto's character development." I murmured as I began running.
I ran day and night for the first 4 days without stopping unless mom needed something. It was another advantage of having Uzumaki genes, near limitless stamina. I decided to keep my sharingan activated in case I get attacked or I spot a leaf Shinobi because it'll be helpful if I found one. They could get to the leaf faster than me and would probably be useful in getting Tsunade to help as soon as we reach the leaf. And luckily, after I entered the massive forest surrounding the leaf village that day, I noticed someone in the corner of my eye while jumping from tree to tree the next day. As I moved closer, I immediately recognized the person.
"Flak jacket with the Uzumaki symbol in the back and white hair. And his chakra also feels strong. It must be Kakashi."I thought as I followed him. Suddenly, he stopped and turned around.
"If you need something you should just ask. You've been following me for way too long to be someone that wants to kill me." He said calmly. "She doesn't look good."
"You must be Kakashi Hatake. I've heard a lot about you. My name is Kenshin Uzumaki, a genin from the hidden rain. This is my mother. I need to get to the leaf village, soon. Because I believe the hokage is the only one that can give her the treatment necessary."
"And I'm supposed to just believe you? The hidden rain isn't exactly known for being cooperative with others. How do I know that you're not lying?"
"Look I don't have time to explain right now. Her condition is too serious. If you don't trust me then it's fine, it's the hidden rain's fault. But please understand, I have no other choice. Even if just for a day, I want to keep her alive. I've lost too much already." I was getting desperate because of his skepticism even though the rain village is kinda at fault for this. "Besides, I'm related to the leaf village as well. My father was a Shinobi from the leaf."
"And what exactly does that prove?"
"I guess it proves nothing. But I have no intention of harming the leaf. If you don't want to accompany me then you don't have to." I replied before beginning to move towards the leaf village myself. "If he's not gonna help me, I'll get there myself." I thought as I moved. I could sense Kakashi following me closely with my sharingan. "If you have something to say then say it."
Kakashi increased his pace and caught up to me. "I'm curious about your sharingan. To be specific.... Who you took it from."
"I didn't TAKE it from anyone. It's mine. My father was an Uchiha from the hidden leaf." I replied coldly. We didn't speak much for the rest of the way except for Kakashi occasionally asking me stuff. Although his skepticism was evident, he didn't stop me. He simply said that he would help me get her treatment but he or a jonin from the leaf would always keep an eye on me for as long as I would be in the leaf which I had no problem with. If it lets me gain their trust or at least make them not suspect me anymore, it's fine.
[The next afternoon]
The leaf village gate was in our sight so we picked up the pace and soon reached the village. We noticed Izumo standing in the gate.
"Take her to the hospital immediately. Izumo, you go with them. I'll bring Hokage here as soon as I can."Kakashi said the moment we entered through the gate before heading towards the hokage's office. Me and Izumo took mom to the hospital and Tsunade soon came, accompanied by Shizune and Kakashi.
