63. Finding the temple

"Then that changes things. He wants me alive" said Raina and she started to run towards the two Hydra agents on the road but May prevented that from happening as she struck the two Hydra agents by her van.

Diego assisted the team with Coulson to enter Castillo San Cristóbal, a garrison that was built above the hidden city, but he would not enter because of stories of it being haunted and that those who entered did not found an exit. Leo Fitz decided that he could work for Jemma Simmons, but not with her, making her leader of the science team. Morse constantly compared Coulson's style of leadership with that of Nick Fury, but Coulson let her know that he was chosen as director for a reason.

In San Juan, not knowing of the potential danger, Mack is lowered down to the city. He touches a symbol on the ground, and it starts glowing, causing great pain for him. The team pulls Mack back up, but he is overcome with rage, his eyes turn red, and he attacks them. Morse manages to subdue him, and he falls back down the shaft to the city. Coulson then orders the entrance be blocked off.

En route to San Juan, Raina tells Skye that her father, a crazy murderer now aligned with Hydra, is quite misunderstood. She claims that he found her in Thailand when she was a lost soul, and showed her that she could be something else. However, all he ever wanted was to be with Skye. Raina also explains that the Obelisk, or the Diviner, was left on Earth by the alien race the Kree to decide who is worthy to inherit Earth. Only one of these people, like Raina and potentially Skye, can go to the city with the Diviner and unlock its true power.

Realizing that those not worthy should probably not enter the city, Skye attempts to warn Coulson and his team, but their communications are jammed by Hydra, who had followed a tracker embedded in Raina.

Ward's POV

"Sir, Mr Whitehall would like you to retrieve Raina. He is connecting to the SHIELD jet and letting them know we're sending someone. Are you ready?"

I don't acknowledge him as I stand up and make my way to the door. Our jet is already approaching and connecting with SHIELD's. I gather my strength and make my way down.

The first person I hear is May. She's not going to let Raina off the plane. Tripp is wondering how they were found.

Might as well let them know it's me. Maybe May won't shoot me. "Raina's tracker." I answer Tripp's question loudly. "Old frequency SHIELD used during the Cold War. What can I say, I'm a history buff."

Tripp, Hunter, May, Skye and two men that look exactly like Eric Koenig all have their guns pointed at me. What the hell? I know Eric was a triplet but seeing them and remembering that there is another one really surprised him a lot. It's Scary as shit as to how they all look exactly alike.

The Hydra operatives followed him down the stairs keeping their weapons trained on the people he loved. Grant sighed audibly. Will this ever end? He faced Skye and May, hoping against hope that these two women he loved would believe in him. "Lower your weapons," he told them softly. "Anyone shoots, the plane goes down. We all die."

May haven't moved a muscle. "Maybe it's worth it," she said to Grant with a little smile. Although his expression stayed the same, his heart gave a little leap. Maybe she does trust me!

"Let's not get carried away just yet," Hunter responded with a slightly panicked look at May.

Grant glanced over his shoulder at Hunter, trying not to laugh. Leave it to Hunter to be the voice of reason. He then returned his gaze to Skye, trying to communicate with her non-verbally. It must have worked because she slowly lowered her gun. "First you give us Bakshi, now you're back with Hydra? Pick a side, Ward."

Raina's smile was faint. "With pleasure," she said looking directly at Skye.

Grant turned back to Skye. "You too," he said lightly.

Both Skye and May looked confused, glancing with wide eyes at each other. "What?"

"I made you a promise, Skye." Grant moved slightly towards her, hoping his proximity would help soothe her. "I'm here to keep it." Please know what I'm talking about! "You're coming with us." He smiled slightly at her, winking so neither the Hydra guards not Bill could see.

May gave him a significant look, then pointed her gun at him again. "The hell she is! She's not going anywhere."

Grant transferred his gaze to Skye who seemed to know what was expected. "May," she said in a low voice.

He suddenly tired of the rigmarole. They either believed him or not, so time to end this before someone got hurt. "She comes or the deal's off," he said in clipped tones to May.

"Shut up!" May replied. Grant almost sighed but instead just looked disgustedly at Agent Billy Koenig. If the situation weren't so serious, Grant would've rolled his eyes. Koenig really needed to stick with lanyards. Of all the SHIELD people on the plane, Koenig was the only one who didn't truly know Grant, so he was the wild card. That guy really shouldn't be out in the field. I could kill him with just my thumb.

"May," Skye insisted again, turning to look directly at her, "if I don't go with him, he's going to blow this plane to pieces."

"They're Hydra. They'll do it anyway." Tripp looks to Skye. "You can't trust him, Skye," he urges.

I searched Tripp's face. Is he crushing on my girl?

I turn back to Skye, "Yes, you can. Skye, look at me."

"Don't talk to her." May's gun raises a little to my face.

"Skye, I give you my word—come with me, we won't fire a single shot. Everyone gets alive."

"Good one. Is that what you told my brother, before you killed him?" I frowned at one of Eric's brothers. I look at him closely and then look at the other one.

"How many of you are there?"

"Skye…you can't." May warns Skye one last time.

"There's no other way. You know that." Skye lowers her gun and looks directly at May, "Whatever happens, I can handle myself."

There's no other way. You know that. Whatever happens, I can handle myself." The two women shared a look, with May finally nodding at her to give permission. Skye dragged her gaze away from May, glared at Grant then shoved her gun – unnecessarily hard in his opinion – into his palm when he held out his hand for it.

"Oh Skye," Raina said in a perky voice, "don't forget your tablet. You know, the one with the map of the city on it." She smiled as she turned to climb the stairs.

'Thats what I was waiting for' Grant thought as he moved and picked up the tablet while also leaving a little something for his friends at SHIELD to find.

After which I follow both women up slowly.

"I swear to God, Raina." I hear Skye threatening.

"What Skye?" Raina turns to Skye once on deck.

The men all get back to positions.

"Nobody fires on that aircraft. Let's go. We got what we came for." I command.

I grab Raina by her arm and yank her to a seat. "Sit down and shut up, will you?"

She gives me an angry look and yanks her arm away.

I see some men hesitate. "I said let's go."

"Sir," one man dared to speak, "we're not shooting?"

"No, she's our insurance policy," I point at Skye and then at Raina, "and she's the mission. Let's go. I won't say it again."

All the men scramble around.

Skye gives me a confused look so I just ignore it.

I see one of the men pick up his phone. No doubt contacting Whitehall.

I start walking away to find a seat when one of the men walks behind me to grab Skye and starts to drag her not something I am ok with.

I drag him off her and start wailing on him. It only takes about 4 punches before I realise what I'm doing and drop him on the floor.

"Don't touch her again, do you hear me?" I pull him close to my face so he can see the threat in my eyes.

He nods and I drop him back on the floor.

"Nobody touches her!"

[A.N - I haven't watched Accelerator for a long time now and his powers will be harder for Grant to understand as the guy doesn't even know what they are so don't say why h isn't using them more]
