Vincent couldn't believe what he was seeing. He truly had a bad luck. He had just entered the level 2 area called Riverflower and there was already players interrupting him.
"Hey boss, that bearded man is a NPC. We can't rob or kill NPCs. It's too risky," a male Rogue whispered to his party leader.
"I know, I know. But can you see that man in a robe?" he said pointing to Vincent, "he's a player."
The other 2 players finally understood their boss actions. NPCs are quite strong inside Rise, and attacking the wrong one could enrage lots of them, and no one wished to be hunted.
"Hey, you. Can you please come down so we can have a nice and warm conversation?" the trio boss said, and the three of them laughed.
"Insects. No matter where you go, you'll find them," Vincent said while slowly moving his right hand.
"What did you say?" they looked enraged after hearing that, but then, something extraordinary happened.
A huge Fireball was shot in their direction. Vincent decided to aim at the Rogue, who was the DPS of the group. The element of surprise was truly awesome, and the Rogue didn't stand a chance, getting turned into ashes by the Fireball. A insta kill.
[Fireball casted]
[126 DMG]
[Player LostDagger killed by The Seer]
They all looked astonished. What had just happened?
Vincent was level 5, three levels above the entire server, and that gave him a huge advantage. Rise worked in a way that if one had levels advantage, they would do more DMG and receive less DMG. Against mobs or players. It also worked the other way around. That's the reason why monster with more levels than the player would grant bonus XP after being killed.
"How can this guy one shot LostDagger? That's bullshit," the boss started to wonder if he had misjudged and the hooded man was also an NPC. For him that was the only explanation for such power.
"Don't you guys recognize me?" Vincent said, stepping out to confront them.
"Th.... The Seer!!" they stumbled back. There wasn't a single player who didn't recognize that name. It was already a legend inside Rise.
"Please have mercy on us, Mr. Seer," it was a funny sight, but Vincent didn't show mercy.
They wanted to kill him and rob him. Every time you die in Rise one would lose XP, and eventually lose a level. Dying had a huge impact and everyone tried to avoid that, even more at higher levels. It wasn't a big deal for them at that moment. They were only level 2 so it was acceptable to die at that stage of the game.
Vincent then casted another Fireball, aiming at the other Mage. Both of them gave up on fighting so Vincent just shot Fireballs at them and finish the job. It wasn't a big deal to become PK or red name in Rise. One only needed to kill monsters to clear its name again. The only problem was that the guards inside villages and cities would attack you on sight, but that didn't matter for Vincent as he didn't plan to return to White Oak Village soon enough.
Some players did notice the fighting between The Seer and the other unknown trio. Word quickly spread in the forum, and one player who didn't share his nickname had also recorded the fighting. Everyone inside Rise was astonished. They begin to ask other Mages if the Fireball spell was that strong, hoping to change their class. Surprisingly, most of the mages couldn't even cast a proper Fireball, claiming that it was difficult to get the symbols right.
"You said that it's difficult to cast a spell but how can The Seer one shot people? Are you Mages lying to us?" another player replied.
Vincent knew that his fight would somehow end up in the forums, so he couldn't lose time. Players would soon go after him. Some just to see the legendary player that he was, others to kill him to reduce his levels.
"One more reason to get that skill, damn it." Vincent thought while running through a green field. The herb Spicy Flax had only a few locations that it could be found inside the Riverflower area. Vincent knew all of them. He quickly decided to go to the safest of all, behind a waterfall. It was cliche but the herb could be found in a cave, behind a waterfall. He decided to go for it. Other players wouldn't found him there, and if he was not mistaken, there was a treasure chest there too, so win-win.
Mean while in the game forum, a post was trending top.
"HUNTING PARTY TO KILL AND REDUCE THE SEER LEVEL BACK TO 1!"
