Mason's car pulled into the long driveway, the familiar surroundings of his father-in-law's house coming into view. Ellen found herself staring at the large house as they neared the entrance. She shifted in her seat, her eyes narrowing slightly as she turned her head to look at Mason.
"You really didn't have to drop me off here, Mason," she said. "I was perfectly fine staying at home."
Mason glanced at her, a small smirk curling at the corner of his lips. He didn't seem fazed by her complaints, and there was a hint of playfulness in his eyes as he pulled the car to a stop. He put the car in park, then took a better look at her.
"Don't lie, Ellen," he said. "I know you like it here. Besides, this way I'll have peace of mind while I'm away."
