Arrival to Anshan

---- 2 Months passed -----

As I looked out the window of the carriage I was being escorted in I suddenly saw 2 men on horses ride up to the lead rider speaking to him before eventually riding off again this time back into the direction of what I believe is to be the main city.

I turn to one of the advisors that was brought with me to accompany me on the journey along with a few other guard.

"How far are we off from the Capital, Anshan?" I spoke while continuing to look out the carriage

"We are not far off now. Only a few minutes will be left." He replied while looking at his books

I nodded before returning to my mind thinking about something. Before it was interrupted as I saw the small capital of Anshan show up. Although being a Capital of a city it didn't look as impressive as the future capitals such as Persepolis and Pasargadae. Even then I didn't mind getting the luxury of finally living in the castle from now on.

As we edged nearer and nearer to the castle a member of the cavalry rode up next to us and told us that we have arrived at the gates and in 2 minutes I shall be meeting with my true father and that I should not make a bad first impression.

Slowly as the carriage advanced through the city I saw people looking at and staring before continuing what they were doing before either that being shopping for ingredients or working the city looked as lively as Ecbatana although it didn't look as rich but it sure seemed to be vibrant in culture. Suddenly the carriage stopped with a screech before the door was opened for me and let me out to meet my father Cambyses The First.

The palace was not posh compared to modern day palaces it had pillar and four square rooms jutting out each side as well as a second floor but that was a palace back in the day. Well it should be as that was what I found when I was digging the old site of Cyrus. As I approached the palace I had to walk a flight of stairs while the advisor also followed me. As I got to the entrance I saw him. My father sitting on his throne waiting for me to enter and approach.

I entered the hall and when I got near I bowed pointing my head to the ground to show respect as he had a higher position than me even though we were family. The advisor however remained standing.

"My name is Harpagus and I am here to bring you your son by the order of Astyages The King Of The Medes." The man now identified as Harpagus spoke in that of a loud but respective tone.

"My son?" He said questioning before standing up and approaching "I thought he was dead but it seems he was not I am happy and relieved. I will be able to have my country ruled be a kin of mine for another decade" He spoke in a relieved tone but as if he was on the verge of tears.

"Stand Up my son, you do not need to show me such honors after all we are family" He said. I of course followed the orders and received a hug from him. It felt like my ribs were breaking as he by no means was a small man. He was by the looks of it 6'1, 180lbs, a man that could tower over anyone during this time period.

Harpagus looked at us before telling us that it was time for him to go but he will be in touched with. 'As over the two months me and Harpagus told each others stories and how much Harpagus hated Astyages but could do nothing about it especially after he killed his child and ate him unknowingly during a feast of Astyages. The only reason he knew was due to being told by Astyages who seemed to show no remorse. This tells me that atleast Herodotus was able to get some parts of the stories correct or that maybe the story was made to match that of Herodotus.

Although I did not bother as that would cause to much of a headache'. As I continued to think I was nudged by my father to see Harpagus off. Which I of course did as me and Harpagus became friends over are journey despite our differences. As I waved to Harpagus as he was getting into the carriage my father whispered to me that he will be showing me around and to get me some new clothes as the current clothes were cheap cotton fabrics and leather. To this I obviously agreed as it would allow me to view the city while also getting to enjoy the views .

As me, my father and his guards set off to get some new clothes made for me ready.

"My son you never did tell me the name you were given by the people that took you in. So do tell?" He asked me intrigued.

"They gave me the name Cyrus and I will make sure to wear this name with pride and make it a name feared and admired by all." I boasted in a jokingly manner . He then proceeded to ruffle my hair

"Im sure you will." He said replying to my comment

"But first to make you great we must get you an education to make you worthy of being the King Of Anshan" He said loudly and proudly when mentioning Anshan.

The second I heard education my shoulders slumped and my head fell low. The second he saw this he told me that it should be nothing to worry about as I will only be taught about the are of riding cavalry, archery and most importantly honor and respect of the gods.

"Why not about how to manage the armies or like swords, spears and shield?" I asked .

"That is something you will learn after you master all the points I have listed. Of course I also forgot something most important managing your wealth. So that is something else you shall be taught in your journey of kingship." My father stated

"Now tell of all the gods you currently know of. Cyrus" My Father inquired

'Shit, I only know of three. Better than zero I guess' I panicked before calming my self "Ahuramazda the creator god. Arta The Truth and Drauga The Lie" I answered

My father hummed before smiling

"Good at least you know of some. I thought the bastard Medes wouldn't teach you any gods name." He said proud of me before slapping my back

"I will be training you in your archery and horse riding so don't think I will hold back as you were meant to start learning at five so you've had five less years of practice." He said with a smile before walking ahead of me and proceeding to enter a Dress maker. I proceeding to follow him inside. Where I saw all sorts of rich fabrics.
