Sick Sister

[Written from the POV of a Villager boy]

"Rina where are you?" I screamed as loud as I could. My sister didn't answer. I called her again. "Rina where are you" I tried to be as quiet as possible. "Erik". I heard a weak voice call out my name.

"Rina" I screamed while running into her direction. Soon I arrived at the edge og the forest. This was the point where we started our hide and seek game. She hid almost next to were I started searching.

My sister lied in the grass heavily breathing. She cried in pain. Her entire right arm was completely red and one point of her arm was black.

I carried her back to the house of our parents. "Mom Dad!" I screamed as I entered the house. My mom stormed out of the kitchen "What happened?" she said as she saw Rina in my arms. After we brought her to her bed my mother asked me what happened. "We just played hide and seek, and I found her like this. "I answered her truthfully. "Go call the village doctor now!" She said. "You father will be back from hunting soon so if necessary, we can send him to get medicine.

I rushed to the house of the village doctor. He packed his stuff and ran with me back to our house. After a examination of my sister Rani he said: "It seems like she came in contact with an "Helianthus annuus" which is an extremely rare and poisonous plant.

"Is there a way to heal her?" I asked the doctor. I can only give her some pain reducing medicaments but the only doctors of healing this kind of extreme dose of poison are the doctors of the royal family because they are the only ones allowed to have knowledge of such a poison.

"Is there another way?" You could try visiting the holy royal church and pray to the go but the nobility claimed the church of the god as their own and the god only answered one prayer of the last 5 kings so far.

"Aren't there other gods we could try?" This question was my last hope. I wanted to do something for my sister.

"Well out of the seven kingdoms only three have their own gods but in every case, they have been "claimed" by nobility. And then there is the Holy cathedral which is located where the borders of three smallest kingdoms meet but your sister would die before you even arrive there."

"So, I'm sorry but I think there is nothing that can save your sister now"

That is what happened two days ago. I was sitting next to the bed of my sister who was heavily breathing. "Why do these nobility assholes think they can claim the power of a god. Just because they are the ones who are in power. A tear rolled down my cheek.

I need to do something. I silently walked out of Reina's room. My parents would never allow me to go to another kingdom myself but I need to do it to save Reina. If there are only one out of four gods receives prayers from normal people then I will have to go there.

I packed a bag full of food and a map of the kingdoms I got for my birthday. I left a short-handwritten letter to my parents.

Then I set off. I sneaked out of our hose and hid behind every corner. If somebody sees me they might tell my parents about it. Somehow, I managed to sneak past the guards. Soon I entered the forest. It was quiet. My father taught me how to her animals and get a feeling for their size by just hearing them. Luckily for there was a track trough the forest which was nearly completely free of animals so that was one problem less. I looked back. "I will find someone to save you Reina!"
