THE ASSAULT OF TARAH CITY
"The Skeleton King's death is probably the only thing not planned or expected by the Queen, or she at least thought he would cause havoc for much longer", I replied to her.
"Will the quick dispatch of the Skeleton King help us in our city's defense?" Illiwyn asked me.
"That will help a little, but our greatest help will come from the city's early preparations", I replied to them.
"I don't understand", Eless asked.
"Didn't you realize that Iras was gone for a very long time. He won't abandon us in battle unless it is important. Something is going on between him and Oriese and he didn't tell us yet", Anitor replied to her.
"Is it true? You sent Iras to prepare against the demon invasion beforehand? Before anybody knew the demons were invading?" Illiwyn asked me.
"Just say I have a hunch", I replied to her.
Suddenly, something remarkable happened in the Conjurer Court of Drachia which answered Illiwyn's query.
----
Pieces of hexagon panels suddenly magically appeared in the sky.
Through the artful combination of hexagon-shaped pieces, they form an intricate and formidable dome over the city of Tarah.
Each shield panel was made of a translucent material, resembling a shimmering, iridescent crystal, with a faintly ethereal glow. The hexagon pieces interlock seamlessly, forming a tessellated pattern that covers the entire perimeter of the city.
Despite their delicate appearance, these shields possess incredible strength and resilience. They provide a formidable defense, capable of repelling magical and physical assaults alike.
"Shield of Enimus"
The Conjurer's Court, the highest authority for templar conjurers in the Ten-Kingdoms, would have means to fortify itself with defensive enchantments, such as the Shield of Enimus.
Yet, even with such formidable defenses in place, the demons remained undeterred by the magical shield shrouding Tarah city.
Scores of demons pooled their infernal energies, unleashing fiery conjurations from the depths of hell itself. These dark incantations coalesced into blazing beams, piercing through the protective barrier encasing Tarah city.
The demonic flames, the pinnacle of infernal magic, relentlessly assailed the city's magical shield.
-----
"What is the magic dome suddenly conjured over the city?" I asked the Control Freaks.
"This is the Shield of Enimus, named after the magic arraye's creator, Supreme Conjurer Enimus", Illiwyn replied to me.
"This is part of the defense system of Tarah city, if it was ever invaded, operated by the Conjurer's Court although it has been years since it was ever used", Eless added proudly.
"Are you sure the shield is strong enough to protect against the bombardment of the demon's fire?" Chash asked.
"The Shield of Enimus is cast from the greatest arraye of the Supreme Conjurers' magic which took years to construct and perfect. It can defend the whole of Tarah city against the onslaught of invasion from powerful armies", Anitor told us.
"Even the strongest shields can be exhausted and broken by relentless assaults, how long can the shield last against the demons?" I asked him.
"Hopefully, long enough for reinforcements arrive from the apostle's garrison in Starri city", he replied to me.
"We can't wait for the reinforcements from the apostles arrive, the battle could have ended by then", I told the Control Freak.
Over at the gate of Tarah city, the demon's army assembled.
The enormous Flesh Meat monsters became the de facto siege equipment of the demon army as they stormed the walls of the city, smashing its shields with their powerful fists and claws.
As they smashed on the shields at the wall, the energy reverberated across the whole section of the shields, weakening it much more than the fiery bombardments from the demons.
"The meat monster will break our walls by the rate they are smashing our walls", Chash told us, and he instinctively acted.
----
Suddenly, a large sword fell on one of the Flesh Meats, breaking it into half, the left part of the monster froze while the right side, burns.
"Dominon of Ice and Fire"
Meera cast her magical mirrors that was reflected on the enemy with shattered shards while Cassandra rushed to fight against the invaders with her cursed Zavalla blade, wounding and killing many.
Golden Knights appeared before us as they rushed to attack the enemy with their long and broad blades, conjuring harmful and violent slashes of perfect magic of Order as they swung their blades.
Many demons and soldiers from the demon army were stopped by us after we joined the battle at the gates of Tarah city.
----
"It is useless to kill the enemy, their broken bodies are gathered and mended by the Flesh Meats again", Eless told me worriedly.
Despite killing and maiming many enemy soldiers and demons, even in their conditions, the broken body parts could still play a role in the battle.
They were gathered by the monstrous Flesh Meat, sticking to him like his flesh to be used again to increase his heap and fortify his flesh.
"We need holy light and fire to destroy the dead bodies in the battlefield, so they don't end up reinforcing Flesh Meat", I told the Control Freaks.
Suddenly, large spotlights were brought out on the walls of the city that reflected intense light on the battlefield. These weren't ordinary lights, but the holy light of the Church.
"Lantern of Holy Judgement"
"Let me shine on the creeps", Eless shouted to us as fire rained from the sky.
The showering flame wasn't particularly intense, but they managed to burn the dead bodies and limbs of the defeated enemies before they could be taken by Flesh Meat.
Realizing that burning the dead bodies in the battlefield was a great strategy for this battle, Cassandra rose into the air to join Eless as she cast her own showers of flame. The conjurers on the walls also added with their fire conjurations.
"Our fire is not enough to stop the Flesh Meats", Cassandra complained to me.
The battlefield before the gate was covered in flames but the enemy was relentless. The corpses in the battlefield could be destroyed by fire but once they merged into the Flesh Meats, they became indestructible to flame.
The Flesh Meats continued to smash the walls and shield of Tarah city, and they were having some success.
