As the bandit burst through the main hall door, his warning cry of "Something bad is happening!" seemed almost redundant. The battle raging in the square was nearly over: legions of skeleton soldiers, packed as tightly as ants in a colony and seemingly indestructible, had all but seized control of the area, driving the desperate bandits uphill.
In Moon God Village, the tide was turning under the guidance of the bandits' small cadre of leaders. They crouched behind the railings on the corridor outside their cave, using it as a makeshift barricade. Armed with crossbows, bows, and arrows, and pelting the advancing skeletons with stones, they managed a fierce, if frantic, defense.
The village itself was a marvel of defensive architecture. Even if the outer walls fell to an enemy, the mountainous slope carved into the hill served as a formidable secondary barrier, supporting the bandits in their desperate final stand.
