Life goals
Lijuan was amused to see such a scene, both of them were standing like kids waiting for candies. She chuckled and said, "Mom, dad, I wanted to tell you both that your little girl has grown up and she can understand things better now. If I do anything wrong or going in a wrong path, don't hesitate to stop me or scold me. I don't want you guys to treat me like a kid anymore and give in every time. Be stricter and say no if you don't want me to do it. I can't be this willful anymore. I will have a disciplined life to be a great personal like dad".
Hearing to Lijuan's words, both Lee Jianguo and Hua Mulan felt that something was wrong. Their daughter seems to have grown mature over night or something happened with her without the knowledge of both of them which has forced Lijuan to become mature. She is just 14 years old and not even an adult to have faced life and death situation to make such decision.
Hua Mulan spoke first, "Did something happened darling? Can you tell mom and dad about it? Did anyone hurt you or made you suffer? Or do you have any issues that you can't even tell your parents? No matter what it is, your parents will not judge you and push you away. Just tell us if something is wrong, ok?"
Yes, little princess. Tell us what happened? Who did what to make you like this? You don't have to think like an adult and change your life. You are doing perfectly fine princess. Did someone said something bad?", Lee Jianguo continued.
Lijuan thought that if she speaks up first and then do it, her parents will accept it. She believed that even her parents were annoyed by her behavior, so they will be happy when they listen to her admitting her mistakes and wanting to become a better person. But she never understood parent's perspective, whatso ever she did to them she was still their own kid. They never judged her because of her bad behavior. They only thought it was normal for kids to throw tantrums and fight. Somewhere in heart she previously blamed her parents as well for her stupidity, they should have corrected her when she was wrong instead of giving her everything she wanted. Now she understood, her parents just wanted her to grow up the way normal kids would do, all the things I did they considered it as rebellious period and I will get better as I grow up. I had such a good parent and both of them are genius in their own fields. How could they ever expect to give birth to a fool like her. She took sometime to calm her emotions and finally said to her parents,
"Mom, Dad, it's not that someone did something or something bad happened to me. I just had a thought, what if I continue to have such temperament and willfulness and cause some big issues. What is I never learn from mistakes and grow up to be a dumb person? Before the start of our summer vacation, our class teacher asked us to think about one question, he asked us to think about what will be like in the future if we continue to do what we are doing currently without any changes. Not putting enough efforts, not concentrating, reading for the sake of reading without goals and no idea about future. He asked us to think about it carefully and come back as a new person with goals and ambitions. As high school students who are going to have a busy and stressful period, he wanted us to have a goal to focus on so that we won't give up midway. A goal can help us to stay strong and keep going. First, I couldn't understand why is he telling so much to kids like us who can't understand the depth of his advice. I kept on thinking about it everyday since then and finally I could understand the literal meaning of it and I imagined myself as a willful and spoiled princess, with no knowledge and only money. I might not able to live for long and I will not bring any glory to my parents' name. So, I decided to change. You both will support and encourage my changes right mom and dad? You won't think I am weird right?"
Lee Jianguo and Hua Mulan were both surprised to know that their little daughter had such deep thought process. She actually took a different meaning of her teacher's advice. Even though they felt that there was something more to Lijuan's changes, they did not question it any further. Her changes are for her own good. They will focus more on her from now to avoid any unforeseen events to happen and make their daughter to suffer. They will think it as whatever happened is for a reason and it's good for their daughter's growth right now.
"I support you unconditionally darling. If anything happens, come to mommy and tell directly. Don't hide anything from us and suffer alone. You might have grown up but for us you are still our little daughter!"
"I agree to what you mom said. I support everything you are going to do as long as it's good for you. Don't worry about anything my little princess. If anyone bullies you come directly to dad and he will help you teach them a lesson.. hahahah!".
