Xuexue came back from the town by ox cart as the sun had already set.
Mo Xiaoqiang and Madam Xie sat in the courtyard waiting for her all day.
Any rustling sound outside the door made them stretch their necks eagerly, hoping for Xuexue to appear soon, and they had unconsciously come to see her as their pillar.
There was a faint sound of footsteps outside the door.
"Could it be Xuexue returning?" Madam Xie stretched her neck to look.
"Mother, Mother."
Chuner and Xiao Gougou came bounding in happily.
Madam Xie was clearly disappointed and said listlessly, "Chuner, be good and go play outside with Xiao Gougou."
"Mother, Xiao Gougou and I came back to get some watermelon to eat." It seemed Chuner was hungry from playing outside and came back looking for something to eat.
"There's some in the kitchen, help yourself."
"Okay!"
With her consent, Chuner and Xiao Gougou hand in hand, skipped toward the kitchen.
Madam Xie again stared anxiously towards the main door.
