Chapter 28: The assignment

With the design of the new shop done, now I need to focus on what to do for the assignment school set us...

Yong Zhen ge texted me a few hours ago and he tweak my design a little I think it looks ok. Professor Chen wanted everyone's theme to be something that meant very special to them. Since Yong Zhen and I grew up in different cultural backgrounds we wanted to let everyone see our own culture through our work. Yong Zhen was Japanese and I was Chinese hence we decided to do something related to myths and legends. Although we grew up in different places I've found out through research that both of our cultures have many similarities.

Yong Zhen didn't have a clue on what to do so I chose to remake this jacket design I would one day make in the future. In the future, I know that pair of jackets sold out quickly. Originally I had decided to do a light peach Double Dragon and Phoenix Sukajan Jacket however Yong Zhen suggested tweaking the colour scheme. To have the embroidery done in peachy pink and have the jacket's main colour as Midnight Blue. Then on the inside would be a blouse sort of like a Qi Pao*(1) design just without the bottom dress. Originally I had no clue if we should just leave it like a lighter shade of blue but then Yong Zhen ended up suggesting to me that we embroider a dragon a the back and a scorching phoenix on the front to suit the jacket. We planned to use a golden thread for the back and front so it would stand out more. However the bottom we planned to use the same fabric as the silky jacket for the trousers. And on the front, there should be two pocket pouches to store things. The back should have two as well. The colour of the trousers would probably be midnight blue. The trousers would be made out of tracksuits. And Yong Zhen paired the shorts quite well. So it would be suitable for men and women. Hopefully, Professor Chen would give us a good grade we are happy with, which would ever be a grade A or B. Preferably the A.

I just realise me and Yong Zhen have a similar style we design like. Perhaps I would ask him whether or not he would join my company and work with me. Our assignment piece could maybe our first piece. With all the talk I believe we should get down to business. "Guys, I'm meeting Ying Zhen today in the textiles room. By the way, Cheng Li it's your turn to cook dinner. So what's on the menu?" I notified them as Fang Feng turned to ask me "Alone?" I laughed knowing fully well what she meant. I shook my head in reply " There will be another student there," she turned back to focus on her work and muttered, "oh ok,". Aiyo no matter how close friends we're there must be boundaries. Last lifetime I didn't understand that and told Xiu Ying everything. My foolishness hit hard when I died.

We work through this whole assignment for a whole week and we only finished the jacket. I had to cancel everything just to focus fully on this assignment. The whole week has been so tiring. If we weren't in class or canteen or sleeping we would be in the textiles room finishing everything. The most important thing is that I haven't seen Qi Yan in two weeks. I mean we text and all but I'm not liking this. And even when I'm done I won't be able to see him until next month as he's away on a business trip. I had to adjust to his time zone change as well. He should be in Canada right now and it's meant to be freezing hopefully Qi Yan is wearing enough clothes. One day I would like to go to Canada and see the piles of snow. Maybe he'll take me. I'm not sure I'm a big fan of a long-distance relationship. Qi Yan hurry up and come back!! I miss him!!

Uh, Snap out of it hui Qing you still got to get this done and over with by then maybe Qi Yan is home...
