Maya dragged Jax over to his car and had him get inside. She forced the driver to drive off from the school.
"Skipping school now, little nymph?" Jax asked impressed.
"I've had a bad influence in my life lately," Maya fired back.
"Got a sharp tongue too," Jax noted. "Why are we skipping school, Maya?"
Maya felt a sharp pain in her heart. The boy had called her many things in their time together but he had never once called her by her name.
To hear him call her by her given name stung. Nicknames were his thing, he rarely called anyone by their names. She couldn't begin to imagine why he would call her Maya. And not one of the many names he calls her.
"You ghosted me for two months, jerk," she spoke up. Jax raised his eyebrows at the name-calling.
"My name is Jax," he pointed out to her. "I don't care, you are a jerk," Maya uttered.
