Happiness Never Last Forever

"Ah..."

I stare over my mother's lifeless body for a moment, as I begin to feel concern. I feel the tears spring to my eyes, as I realized what happened. Her remains were only an upper part of her; his head and right arm were left. Other than that, her left arm and lower part are already eaten by the monster.

"Mom..."

I fell on my knees as I nuzzle her shoulder, gently at first, wanting to wake her up... But the tears begin to fall, as I realized something terrible, and I begin to sob hysterically, as I stare at my mother's lifeless body.

"Mom!!! PLEASE, wake up... I BEG OF YOU!!! WAKE UP..."

I begin to cry in earnest.

The tears continue to fall, as I watch her eyes grow cold, and the light fade from them. I can't believe it... How could this happen? How could I possibly go on with my life, knowing that I will not have your warm, embracing arms to hold me, anymore?

I know that I will never stop missing you, for the rest of my life. Even so, I continue to cry, as my life becomes a little less brighter, now that you are gone from it. I wish that I could find peace in such a world...

『Chloe...』

I suddenly heard someone calling out Chloe's name. Turning my head to look around, I saw that I was alone while my sister couldn't be seen at sight.

She's probably still alive... No, I need to make sure myself that she's still alive! With this little inspiration in mind, I forced myself to stand and leave my mother's corpse behind to find my sister.

"There's someone there!" I noticed that the old man, who summoned the monster that killed my mother, spoke to his companion. I wanted to kill him, reap him to shred, however, I stopped myself from going further.

I need to make sure my sister is alright.

This is my only goal.

I don't care what happens after that.

Whether I kill everyone here or I get killed, as long as I can make sure that my sister is okay, I'll gladly even commit a mass murder today.

All for her.

I need to make sure.

If ever I'm too late and find out that she's dead, then this world can just disappear.

This world wanted to turn Athan into a villain, right?

Then, I'll gladly become one.

I took a step forward and clenched both of my fist. Almost immediately, the world around me were drowned in immense mass of darkness. Whispers emitted from the black mass, and the air around the surroundings grew denser.

I am calm...

I'll calmly dispose these people that gets in my way.

BAAAM!

An explosion that produces a massive shockwave imploded. With just one single step, Athan demolished the structures around him and even glass exploded. After the dust settled, the people from another world was trying to look for him as it didn't see a trace of him.

Athan, already flying, used a wall as a foothold and his legs were tensed like a spring. Now holding a giant spiked metal bar that weighting a ton, he rushed at their presented opening and swung with all his might for a grand slam.

His weapon bent at the impact as the swing sent the four flying across the streets. Creating tremors as he landed, "Not yet." He stepped on a small metal pipe as it flew for a few meters, then kicked it's end and sent it flying towards one his enemies.

The pipe penetrated the old man's stomach, and was then followed by Athan's strong kick towards his cheeks. The kick sent him flying towards the others as they caught him.

Athan was about to take another step further when suddenly,

『Chloe...』

The voice in his head reminded him of his main goal before he went out of control again. That's right, I need to save her first... He thought to himself, raising his right arm and creating a huge hand that was made of barrier above the sky.

"I'll wrap this up," he says, slamming his hand to the ground. The huge hand above the sky begun to make it's way to the four, demolishing the structures as it went down.

BAAAM!

Just when the hand was about to crush them, a strong force of barrier suddenly appeared and protected them. Unlike Athan's blue colored barrier, the barrier before him appears to be silver and was much more thicker than what he can summon as shield.

"So that's why you went missing since yesterday, huh..." Athan let the hand dispatched into particles and turned his head towards the bushes from the distance.

"Bing bong~!" Suddenly, Leigh walked out from his hidden spot with one of his arm raised towards the four. It obviously appears that he was protecting them from me.

Betray... No? The original Leigh became Arthur's most loyal companion after he saved him. There's no way he'll betray them... Athan knew this and unless this person in front of him was different, there was no chance of betrayal between them to happen.

Too much impostor are being revealed these days.

"You..."

"Kufufufufu..." Leigh, who was in questioned for being an imposter or not, chuckled as he covered half of his face with his hand.

Since the artifact that can be used to alter someone's appearance is currently being used by Jack while the Stigma of the White Fox can only be used by someone who was born from the Lohengramm family, then what could have this person have used to become Leigh...?

"...."

Leigh or not, I must eliminate this person quickly if I want to find where my sister is. And I need to so it fast before those people near Leigh could find her.

I summoned more barrier around me that was the same size of a marble and generate some black miasma around it to enhance it's capabilities when dealing damage.

Should I make a run for it...? I probably should if I want to make it on time.

Foosh-!

I launch those little barrier bullets towards their direction, then turned my back quickly to leave. I doubt that my attack could deal any large damage Leigh since his' was tougher than mine, however, I did made sure that my attacks could slow them down.

As soon as my barrier hits Leigh's, the barrier I created released the black miasma inside to block their vision as I ran away. Though I wanted to end them right here and right now, I need to set my priorities straight before it's too late.

As I ran away from them, I look for possible hiding spot that my sister could have used after escaping.

"Huup!"

Creak~!

I lifted a large piece of debris with my right hand and crouched down to look for my sister. "Chloe!" I called out her name, "Chloe, where are you? If you can hear me, say something!"

Since she's not here, I tried to look for her elsewhere. "Chloe!" I tried to enter her burning room, "Chloe, are you here!?" My own room and our mother's, "Chloe, answer me!!" I searched for her at the dining hall, the kitchen, the bathroom, the basement and the attic.

However.

"Chloe...."

It was no use.

Maybe she managed to escape and run to the forest... I ensured myself, rushing forward towards the window as I wrap my whole body with mana.

Crash!

The glass shattered as I landed safely at the ground. Even though I feel tired, feeling really fatigued because I haven't got any rest since yesterday, I was too desperate to find out if my sister is still alive and safe than to worry about myself.

"Just her... I don't care about anything else as long as I can save her!" I screamed on top of my lungs as I called out for her name again.

"Chloe!!! Just answer me please!"

I was too desperate.

If God is real, to which probably is in this world, please just let me save my sister. You can take my life for all I care as long as she remain safe and sound... She can even marry Arthur! I'll even give both of them my blessing!

BANG-!

"Urk-!?" As I was running around the forest, I suddenly stepped on something I wasn't sure what, but immediately found out what it is after the ground I was stepping on suddenly exploded like a landmine.

I was thrown away, with my body came crashing into one of the trees as I flew away.

When I finally stopped myself from flying using my barrier, I hurriedly tried to heal myself and enhance every last bit of mana I have to prepare myself for the last fight.

Without wasting anytime, I used the tree as my foothold and launched myself to attack.

"You've really took your time, Athan!" Leigh summoned a huge guardian that was made out of his barrier, with it's palm prepared to attack. Next, as to what I was expecting, the tall guardian that doubles the size of the tree around us used it's huge palm to attack me.

"Get out of my way!!" While in the air, I twisted my body to dodge the hand incoming towards me and stabbed my sword to it's wrist before running towards it's head with the help of it's arm.

I should have taken out my other sword from my space storage... I'm too late to regret it now, anyway. I held my katana using both of my hand and clenched it's hilt tightly. Unbeknownst to me, I unconsciously used a sword strike that I never known or used once.

"What the hell is this!!?"

With my black flaming blade, I was able to cut through the guardian's thick neck cleanly as if it was like a tofu.

«Soul Parade»

As my slashed went through, the space around us distorted, then it revealed countless of skull that had green colored light in their eyes as they peered at the guardian from the small gap of broken space I didn't know I was able to create.

When I landed on the ground, I eased back away from the falling guardian.

"Let me go...!"

As much as I want to attack with these slashes, I stopped myself to focus my attention briefly towards Leigh and the other three behind him.... Wait, three!!?

Before I could even react, I suddenly felt a hand touching me from behind. "Urk!?" I was about to move away when I felt that my remaining strength got drained by the person's touch.

As my vision went blurry, my mind can only think of two things.

My sister.

And how I'm really fucked from this situation.
