Be aware of rushing water

I had only one goal from that moment. A mantra that constantly repeated in my mind.

"Free him. Meet him."

Over and over I wished for those two things.

I abused every method available to attain that dream. Witches, shamans, random homeless men on the street. Goats urine, lizards bladder.

Just giving him a good old slap. The power of love. But no matter how hard I tried, nothing worked.

But despite this I didn't give up. You never give up on love.

I turned to the only other method I could think of. The one I had been saving for last.

Gods. Specifically giga chadus. The god of wishes. If you sat and prayed in his temple for two nonstop years while only taking breaks for food sleep and other human necessities. He would grant you a single miracle made to be granted to another. But it would only work if it's your heart's desire. Meaning the outcome of this action isn't even a question for me.

So I sat. And I prayed.

And one day it happened.

I kneeled within a marble church to a statue of an inhumanly endowed woman.

"O lord. Please allow Greg to awaken once more. O lord please allow Greg to awaken once more." It was a sound I repeated so much that I would sometimes get confused if I couldn't hear it.

*crack*

I remember clearly The moment when the church vanished. Every last bit of it disappeared. Even the buxom woman.

I now kneeled upon white grass, below a similarly white sky. Off into the distance I could see nothing but more grass. I was in the largest field I had ever seen before.

Before me stood a man wearing a Hawaiian button up shirt with the buttons undone. He had at least thirty gold chains around his neck, weird dark glasses upon his eyes, cargo shorts on his legs and socks with sandals on his feet.

He slammed a fist into his chest so hard that grass as far as the eye could see was rustled.

"Ehahagjahd." He let out a deep hacking cough.

Then stabbed his hand out. I was so confused by his previous actions that it took me a moment to realise he was gesturing for a hand shake.

I reached out awkwardly. And shook his hand.

"Greeting! It is I the great god of wishes!" He yelled.

I titled my head to the side

"No the god of wishes is a girl." I said

He grinned

"No. That is just a random statue I had made. I like having hot girls in my shrines." He said with a shameless smile.

I cringed . ~No way is this the god I have been praying to all this time.~

"So what wish do you want granted?"

And like a broken record. I repeated it again.

"O lord please allow Greg to awaken once more."

He put his hand to his chin and nodded a wide toothless smile on his face.

"Mhmmm Mhmmmm."

"A bit of a loophole there. But yup that just barely passes."

He snapped his fingers and the world. Well. It snapped.

Next thing I knew I was kneeling in an sick house. Before me was Greg's catatonic form. I had checked him into this sick house two years ago while I prayed.

The god of wishes held his hand over Greg's body.

"Wait!" His head snapped in my direction

"Getting cold feet?"

I shook my head.

"No. But before you heal him. Can I ask your name?"

The god grinned.

"My names Larry." I nodded. It was a strange name for a god. But it wasn't worth the effort to bring it up. If I got mad he could refuse to heal Greg.

He put his hand over Greg's body. His hand began to glow with a bright light. It pushed away a darkness that I had never noticed was around Greg's body.

And then that darknes quickly came back.

A sludgy lightless substance creeped up Larry's arm. His face grew pale and His eyes sharpened into dots as his left hand clenched into a fist.

"AH!"

His arm fell to the ground with a wet plop.

He turned to look at me with a sad smile on his face.

"Sorry Luna. But I don't think I can help you. The thing that's keeping this man unconscious is. It's not something I can touch defeat"

And so I ended back up in the church. At that moment. I well and truly gave up.

I resolved to do the only thing I could.

Surely if I loved him enough he would love me back. Right?

I had just found civilization. After days upon days of roaming through the forest. I had found a town. It was hidden within the trees and could easily be classified as quaint. But regardless. I had found a town.

The first thing I did was speed walk over to the well.

I hadn't drunken in days.

The well was a traditional mediaeval well in every sense. From the rope and pulley to the cobbled sides.

On the well there was a sign. It read.

"Keep a firm grip on the rope. Rushing water below."

Not one to be bogged down by signs I lowered the bucket into the well.

Next thing I knew the rope that was once slack pulled me

Forward. And I slammed face first into the wooden roof on the well.

And like that I was unconscious once more.
