A kings sorrow and a moons origin

I grinned. Life continues. Times arrow moves ever onward.

Abstinent fathers make absent fathers.

Abuse breeds nothingness.

Nothingness breeds fear.

Fear breeds torment.

SO! For those reasons I did the only thing I could do. The only thing I would do. I tensed my muscles. Let the fear flow. And ran.

Through the beautiful backyard where my children played and away from the house where a false wife was made.

"DAAAADY!" Yelled a little girl to my back.

.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.

The sun had vanished from the sky and My legs ached I had not let up in my run for a moment.

The sounds of the forest were exquisite.

Birds chirping. Brooks babbling. And bawling. Shrieks of self loathing.

What?

I reached my hand up to my eyes. And instant after the moment I touched them my eyes grew wet with tears.

~I'm crying.~

My mind could muster no more than that mute statement. A statement quickly drowned by the raging torrent of present and history tearing through my….. self.

:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;:;

Soon my body ran out of energy to cry. And I slept.

When I next awoke I saw the fading visage of the moon.

~Moon goddess. She'll find me.~

With what I think of as an unconquerable will. I rose to my feet and marched through the forest. I had to put as much distance as possible between me and the coming moon.

I am Luna. And I love a man who has never spoke a word. How did I meet this man?

So. One day I came across a crash sight.

I was there to pay back a debt I had taken out. Long ago a kind man told me that he would love me. For a price. And he did. Until the money ran out.

But when I arrived to pay off my debt I saw something I would have never expected.

Before me was three men. One man was burnt beyond belief. He laid on the ground his head face down. Any fool could tell that he was dead.

Next there was a short man with a small goatee. He had an aura of strength about him. As if he could crush this world with a single twitch. He sat in front of another man with a solemn frown on his face.

Finally there was the man that I would love. He was also on the ground. His limbs twisted and his spine bent. I would have thought he was dead too if not for the steady rise and fall of his chest.

"Ummm. Is he okay." I asked the small man.

My hair was rustled by a burst of air as the small man's head snapped in my direction with a loud pop.

He looked at me with rabid eyes. I almost felt like I had killed a lover of his or something with how intensely he glared at me.

"What's the date!" He screamed

"June 28th!" I belted back.

"Haaaa. Two days. What have I been doing." He pointed at the twisted man.

"Could you help me carry him?"

~pfft like you would need help.~

I don't know why. But I helped him anyways.

🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑🌒🌓🌔

I followed him around for almost a year as he looked for different ways to save Greg. Finally at the dawn of the first year of searching for a cure I asked him a question that had been burning within my mind.

"Why do you care so much?"

He looked at me with a dejected smile.

"This man. There's something different about him. When he speaks. The world almost seems to go silent. As if it's listening to him."

He's useless. That man never gained the ability to move. Even when every bone in his body was repaired. Even when we rebuilt his body cell by cell.

What makes him so different?

🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕

Two years.

Craig has given up. He got a job running this mining company. Called Greg's magical mine. We decided I would be the one to take care of him.

Craig sent me money. Twenty percent of the companies profits. He called it an ownership fee.

I became something of a nurse for that twisted useless man.

I would take care of him. And Craig would send me absurd amounts of money to do so.

🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕

It was too much. I couldn't take it.

No matter what I did. No matter how hard I tried. No man could ever loved me. Ten times I had fallen in love. And ten times I had been betrayed.

Some wanted me for my money.

Some wanted me for how I looked.

Some wanted me because they thought I would be easy to betray.

But no one truly wanted me.

I cried over the useless man's body.

Despite what I might tell myself. At the end of the day. I was worthless in comparison to him. Even as a catatonic man that could not even think he had done more than me.

Because he had once done <something>. He had a past that had mattered.

I had done nothing. I was nothing.

The tears fell with greater force.

A hand wrapped around mine. It was the useless man's.

I'm not sure how he did that. I never saw him move after.

But. Just after that moment. I was in love.
