Rationalist: Reborn or Retarded?

The first six chapters are about MCs past life. It can avoided as it wouldn't have any effect at the beginning of the story. ---- In a room that is dimly lit not by an electric bulb but by an esoteric object. An infant about 6 months old lying in a cradle. Just by looking at him one could see clear traces of confusion in his face. 'What is this?...' He couldn't understand, as his memories are fuzzy, yet he realizes he knows things that he shouldn't know, things that didn't make sense, thinking in a language that he didn't even know the name of. In a magical world filled with esoteric flora and fauna where Magus, Weapon wielders and Martial artists reign, it's the story of a boy, Jayce, growing up trying to find a balance between his emotions and hyper-rational thinking he obtained from the 'knowledge' and 'awareness' he inherited as an infant, which forces him to analyze and decide everything in an overly rational manner.

Reasoning and Reactions 2

Taylor, this time, is completely wrong.

Though there might be a bigger ploy in the background, it's not that Clara doesn't want to share with him. But rather she herself wasn't aware of it.

Forget about the ploy which is this whole competition, Clara wasn't even sure what that was, that makes Jayce so special to the Transcendent of her family. All she heard from him was that he was special and should be pushed to his limits.

Clara didn't or more precisely couldn't argue with the head, who literally came to visit her in her dreams. She knew for a long time that Transcendents cannot be assessed with common sense, but she didn't want to jeopardize her grandson's life. So, she kept it to herself, only trying to analyze Jayce in the hopes of finding more. This was informed to her when Jayce was just two years old.

A year passed, seeing Clara not taking any action. The head came to visit her again but, contrary to her expectations, he wasn't angry at her for defying his orders, but just assured her that it should be alright for Jayce and revealed some information. Hearing his words, Clara was shocked.

A Transcendent would not give their words wantonly to someone. So, if the head was this confident, then that shows the level of trust he had in this idea.

Clara steeled her heart, and planned for this announcement ever since. She allowed the maids and the others to divulge him some information regarding everything he asks about but reminded them not to go overboard.

Yes, it wasn't that, Jayce who managed to learn about these stuff coincidentally, but a planned leak of information.

Clara was well aware of Jayce's situation because of his mind being overgrown for his age. Thus, she decided to announce it today on his birthday, which was celebrated along with the quincentenary of the Roderick family.

She knew it would be hard on Jayce, even if he was a genius child. He's, after all, 5 years old. But if what the head told her was true, then it's the best course of action.

"...you should go and have a talk with him."

Clara nodded at Taylor's comment.

"By the way, did you call me 'tail' in between the conversation?"

Clara, who remained unfazed by the tsunami-like aura of Taylor, suddenly flinched.

She avoided eye contact with him as she said,

"I.. did not."

Taylor's eyes narrowed,

"Hmph"

Then, with a scoff, he disappeared from his place.

Clara, seeing this, could only shake her head wryly.

'sigh... I still have to go talk with him..'

....

By the time, the conversation between Taylor and Clara ended. The world of awakeners was shaken at the news of a Roderick family child being announced as a potential candidate.

The families, organizations, cults, even the royal family were dumbfounded by this unprecedented event.

....

Klaasan family.

In a pristine white room which seemingly has no door, a man with green hair can be seen levitating in the air while meditating.

Suddenly he opened his eyes, his eyebrows furrowed, shock and confusion visible in his face.

But soon it turned into a look of longing and melancholy as he thought of something. He uttered in a lonely voice,

"Tyra"

....

Royal palace.

The emperor and empress were seated at a coffee table. They were both clothed in a loose night dress indicating they were asleep until a while ago.

The man had hazel brown hair and eyes with a full beard and the woman had dark brown hair with black pupils. Now both their faces were filled with confusion as they pondered about something.

"Why did we not get any information regarding this beforehand?"

The Emperor Madison muttered.

"The federation doesn't inform any of us either. Could it be a sudden decision or ...? "

Queen Diana pondered.

But alas, this news is entirely new and odd even for them.

A five-year-old candidate? Sudden announcement without any prior information? Human Federation and their own family's transcendent not informing them?

All these are new occurrences that happened, and left them completely bewildered.

"Should we try to divine this? After all, Mia is also of the same generation."

The Queen asked, with concern etched in her voice.

....

In Alverin household.

A burly man is standing on the drill ground. He wore track pants and his upper body was left bare. He held a long sword in his hands.

Contrary to his burly stature, the man's face was delicate like a woman's dream come true facial features with long perfect eyebrows, thick eyelashes, his skin glowed like it's made of porcelain along with his pink lips accentuating his shoulders, long pink hair was unkempt with no beard. The difference in the body packed with muscles and delicate face gave him a rugged yet delicate stature.

Right now, his face was blank. But his mind was all around the place as he absent-mindedly stared at the drill ground.

'I just came to train at this hour for a refresher but hearing this, bye bye my good mood.'

He lamented the fact that his mind could no longer concentrate solely on the training after hearing the news of a 5-year-old Roderick's appointment as a potential candidate.

....

In human federation, a meeting is being held. Unsurprisingly, none of them were talking about the news of Jayce being declared as a candidate.

They were not even discussing in real, all of them were just in a state of silence as they were communicating through their minds.

There were a total of 5 Transcendents, everyone belonging to the paragon families of the Asper of Empire.

A blonde man with a full beard and short hair along with blue eyes looking like a youth in his 20s - Roderick family head.

A woman with long black hair and black pupils that seemingly sucks the very light around it- the Hazelwood family head.

Another man with pink hair and maroon colored pupils - the Alverin family head.

A green-haired man with a clean shaved face looked middle-aged - the Klaasan family head, who's also the one leading the discussion today.

Wait! Why are there only 4 of them when there are actually five of them in the Asper Empire?

[That guy didn't attend the meeting today either.] (Hazelwood family head)

[Yeah, how busy he could be that he couldn't even send a will to attend the meeting.] (Alverin family head)

Everyone knew that guy was doing it on purpose, knowingly, that it would annoy them.

After some other trivial issues were discussed, just before the end of the meeting. Everyone turned their attention towards the Roderick family head.

He knows what they were implying with that look, he replied curtly,

[Don't worry. As I've said before, I've thought it through.]

Everyone then turned their attention like there was nothing more to talk about in that matter.

Yes, it's about the candidate announcement. It happens every once in a while that they couldn't care less unless it went overboard. Like what happened in Jayce's case.

[Sigh... I hope your candidate won't end up like mine in the previous round.]

The Klaasan family head sighed and said that before concluding the meeting.

----

In Roderick Mansion.

It was now midnight. Jayce, with the help of his family members, was able to manage all that nagging and ruckus successfully.

He also asked about the meaning behind what his grandmother said, trying to get some information, but much to his dissatisfaction, they either played dumb while hiding their confusion and inner shock like his parents and uncle, or they were not simply aware of it.

'sigh... There goes my plan of leading a life in the shadow, like some sort of hidden boss.'

The primary plan he had weaved for years had now derailed from its course.

It was more than an hour since he came to his room. He racked his brain to think about the feasibility of other plans he had as backup.

But with this new variable in the play, which, he doesn't have an idea of what role it plays or why him or now. He can't really make any progress.

'I need some information! All sorts of information regarding this, but where could I get it?'

A while passed, as he was intently thinking about those things. His room's door was knocked. He didn't even have to guess, as his grandmother's voice resounded from outside the door,

"Jayce, it's me, grandma. Can I come in?"

The person responsible for all of this came right in front of his door.
