Chapter 1 ~ Them

Oriele looked up. Closed her eyes. Counted down, trying to stay calm. Opened her eyes. Saw it, just sitting, motionless. She panicked, thinking it was dead. Looking closer, though, there were signs of its chest moving.

Trying to use her voice for the first time in a while, Oriele whispered. "Are you okay?" No response. She got up and walked over after stretching her legs, wondering how long she had been there.

"Hey, is there something wrong," she asked, worried. "Are you okay?"

That's when she saw them. Oriele got up, choosing to leave behind the body, and fled, not once looking back. Then she remembered, the stains on the person's clothes. She chose to ignore them incase she was wrong, but the chain of events made her believe. The person was dying, if not already dead. It was only a matter of time before those things got it, ending its life. She instantly felt guilty.

But it wasn't her fault. It was theirs. She was innocent, she had to be. It couldn't be her fault, she was unconscious the whole time she was there. It wasn't her. It wasn't.

Oriele tried to convince herself, letting her guard down. When she checked her surroundings again, there was a thin, frail figure laid in front of her. It had dark shoulder length hair, knotted and tangled. Oriele screamed.

"Oh my god! Wtf is that? Why is it here? Shit, that scared the living fecks out of me!"

Regaining her composure, Oriele took a deep breath in, slowly exhaling. Her sudden outburst seemed to have woken the thing up, as it turned its head around to look at her. It didn't blink as it watched her, and it smiled.

The smile started on the thing's cheeks, passed its eyes, and finally stopped spreading. It opened it mouth and revealed a mouth full of sharp teeth. The endless rows of gleaming weapons startled Oriele, making her scramble back.

It slowly crawled up towards Oriele, shoving her into the wall. Still smiling, it screeched, calling the other things over. Oriele could hear the high pitched scratches of nails on tile rushing towards her.
