Quest for Hikari - Episode 11

[ ~ Chapter • Start ~ ]

I and Sill sat down on a bench at the park, while I nonchalantly took a meat bun from one of the bags that she had carried with her.

"You were looking for me earlier, right?" I asked her before I took a small bite from the meat bun on my hand.

Sill looked at me with her usual smile before sighing.

"The kind gatekeeper told me you were inside, so I decided to try searching for you in the middle of my errands, thankfully you found me first before I did." She replied, before I took another bite from the meat bun.

"So, found anything about Hikari? If not, did you find anybody that befriended you?" I gave her another question, in which she looked a little deep in thought.

"Eh.... About Hikari, none so far. But there was somebody that I befriended, even though she was friendly, she was rarely a little forceful. Her name is Sarma Lilismary, an upperclassman and a secretary of the Student Council."

The moment I heard that name, I closed my mouth before I took another bite from the meat bun.

.... Sarma Lilismary.....

That name sounded familiar. Was she a side character to the game?

"Aside from all the search and investigation, I went to the Coliseum to climb up the rankings, currently, I'm at the rank of 7 and would fight a rank up the next day." I said.

We spend a few minutes talking about random stuff, like me wanting to travel to the Free City of Custom a few months after the investigation, find the Legendary Sword Chaos, make my own Toushin, and several things more that currently wouldn't make sense.

While Sill looked like she didn't believe me at first, due to question marks appearing above her head, I just didn't care much.

"... M-Master.... I don't even know what you are talking about, aren't those just from books?" She spoke with utter confusion and disbelief, before I looked at her with a deadpan stare.

"Shut up. I met one of the Legendary Five from those books several days ago, and I'm planning to visit him soon enough after we finish our investigation." I spoke, before staring at her.

".... Well, I'd just say that maybe several things in those books I read about history might be real, and you're about to be late." I spoke before showing Sill the time on my wristwatch.

Realizing that she was really about to be late, Sill stood up and took the bags that were beside us, before bowing her head in front of me.

"Be safe, Sill." I said, seeing her jog to the path to Paris Academy.

Sighing, I spent my time thinking about what I should do before I eventually stood up and devoured the meat buns.

.... And so.... three days have passed since then. I had risen up the ranks pretty easily, while the rankings kept changing as there were new fighters in the ring.

I fought Jean Giovanni, an alternative version of Jean Gangvang II who is quite popular with a lot of the females, and aside from that, somehow I feel like he would be easily befriended. Also, he's a very fast fighter, using rose petals to distract me while using his short swords to deliver quick strikes towards me. He was still defeated by me anyways.

There was also Hubri Matsushita, who used arm blades, he looked like a cyborg.... and there's Ninja Master.

He has a lot of ninjutsu and even speaks as of he was in a Kabuki theater.

Yet he was still defeated.

When I was outside the arena, there was already a commotion brewing.

"It's Yulang Mirage! She's here to meet the Rising Warrior Zance!" A man said just as he noticed me with excitement in his voice.

The crowd arranged themselves in two rows as a woman approached me.

She has short blue-green hair and revealing golden armor and a cape, though her armor was similar to the Royal Guards, there was little difference between them. Her body was well fit and she had toned skin.

Yulang seems to have a smirk on her face, as she halted just as she was a few feet in front of me.

"You must be Zance.... or is that not your real name?" She asked, assuming that my stage name wasn't my real name like 90% of the people think of.

"My real name is Rance, a wandering adventurer from the Free City of Ice. Nice to meet you, Yulang Mirage. " I replied, as we both shook hands.

"You're probably tired of fighting weak opponent's like you face several days ago consecutively, so I'll just say this: Challenge me tomorrow, Rank 4, Zance!" Yulang shouted, grinning like an excited battle-hungry warrior.

"Heh. Consider that done."

The crowds that had formed near us shouted in excitement rivalling that of Yulang Mirage's, as eventually, we split up and I was going back to the Bistro Bar to plan for the fight tomorrow.
